A blockbuster bi-monthly anthology to celebrate 50 years of STAR TREK, featuring short stories across all Treks, by the top talent of today and yesterday! First, a NEXT GENERATION story by Donny Cates and Mack Chater. Unable to decipher a mysterious ship's coded messages, Starfleet has enlisted its two greatest scientific minds, Captain Geordi La Forge and his best friend Data, to investigate. What they discover will alter the course of scientific human history as we know it! Then, an ORIGINAL SERIES story by Sandra Lanz, where a crewmember, stranded on a strange planet, encounters a bizarre alien creature. They must learn how to interact, but how?
This issue contained 2 stories, one TNG & one TOS. The TNG story was real good but I thought the TOS story wasn't that great, but it did have some good artwork. I'm interested & hopeful about the future of this series, I think has the potential to be great.
Created to honor the 50th anniversary of the original Star Trek TV series launch this anthology series pays tribute to not only all the versions to grace the screen but the essence of Star Trek as envisioned by Gene Roddenberry way back in the 1960s this premier issue looks to the future of the Next Generation story line with a tale of Captain LaForge encountering a Star Fleet ship from the future and then Lt. Uhura from the Original Series making an unexpected first contact Showing a great deal of affection for the source this series promises to be a treat for fans
This volume has two short stories, the first being set during The Next Generation and the second being set during The Original Series. I have seen all of The Next Generation, but I've never seen the movies, so I was honestly fairly lost for the first story. It has an interesting concept but feels like it was a small part of what's meant to be a larger story. The second story is cute! It feels more like a finished story compared to the first one. It's just a nice little one-off moment with Uhuru, which is always nice.
Six issues with good short stories and bad artwork. Excepting first issue. Here we find a better issue.
The stories are little fragments of specific moments in different ST series, from the original one to Enterprise. One of my favourites is a tale of John Archer, an excellent job of the writer, and here pencils are not so bad.
I really liked the TNG story. Somehow, it makes sense that Captain Laforge would end up with a bridge full of Datas. I just wish we knew the exact year this takes place. The TOS story could've been better. It felt too short. It was sad seeing Uhura's new friend get left behind.

While I greatly enjoyed the first story, I really thought the second was too short and abruptly ended. I understand why, but the story was just too short for proper character development. We went far too quickly from weird, creepy interaction to best pals torn apart by a cruel fate. Expanded, I think this would have earned it an extra star. I am looking forward to issue #2, though! I'm sure it's out and I'm falling behind, as usual.
Interesting debut to new Trek comic book series. The TNG story was intriguing and I enjoyed the future it was set in--probably close to four stars for its debate on the Prime Directive vs saving lives. The Uhura story was kind of meh for me, though it had plenty of vivid colors.
Meh. Neither story was stellar, and both reminded me why I don't dive into the comics for their eras. Both felt unfinished and lacking, and I'm hoping that the future issues deliver a better punch.
Oh wow! This might be in the running for my favorite ST:TNG episode. And it's not even on tv. Art's pretty decent but relies on a lot of scatter light effects that some might find distracting.
