Ted Stedman had a pretty good life so far. He’s forty-three years old, and still in good shape when something at work happens to put him in wheelchair. He finds his life is over, or at least the one he’d always known. That is, until a research doctor at his own company walks into his hospital room, and offers him a deal that seems too good to be true.
Join Ted as he enters a fully immersive online world, and finds that everything isn’t quite how he imagined it to be. He’ll have his new virtual life, access to the real world, and a game world to explore as well. As if three worlds to keep straight wasn’t complicated enough, he has even more surprises coming his way.
WARNING: This book is an erotic science fiction novel. If you are offended by explicit sex, do not buy this book. There are MF, FF, and MFF scenes of a sexually explicit nature. NOTE: This novel is told in the third person from Ted's point of view
I was born and raised on Long Island and always had two hobbies...
I loved computers, and I read books voraciously.
I've been working in the computer industry for twenty years, and have continued to read a large number of books. On a whim, I started writing erotic short stories online, and to my surprise they were always highly rated, and more than that, I found I loved to write. Since then I have worked at improving my writing, and started publishing on Amazon.
The author builds the story gradually, allowing for the main character, Ted, and his supporting characters to become "real" and not cookie-cutter characters. He builds the suspense of the anti-AI faction gradually as well. Ted's feelings for all of the women in his life developed slowly but steadily; his ambivalence and uncertainty as well as the depth. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
I actually enjoyed the non-erotic portions of the story more than the intimate scenes, of which there are plenty. The worse part is I could actually see the reaction, or more to the point, over reaction of those in charge trying to deal with things they have no point of reference for.
Not much for erotica, but picked it up since it matched some of regular criteria and was actually more than a an erotic novella. Can't critique the romance/set part of the story, but I liked the world Ted was a part of as it introduced a sort of Utopian view of the AIs and not something where they were Skynet, had human fallices, or just slaves (though close). My only technical complaint would be that somehow his VR game was heavily favoring him... What? As a gamer it bugged me, so pbbt! :P
That said, I will probably buy the other two books in the series just to see where the author is taking the story and how it pans out for Ted.
