Gone was fast paced all right. It was just as confusing at some point. I'm left with questions regarding his parents and what he did on Thursday.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Stephen Lightfoot is a quiet, private man. He works in a grocery store but doesn't have anyone he can call a friend. But he does have Anya, his live-in girlfriend.
Anya is a lot like Stephen, She rarely, if ever, leaves the house. She is also quiet and has no friends. Stephen's life is about to turn upside down. When he comes home one rainy night, Anya has gone. Her things are gone and she has left no note. Surely she didn't leave him of her own accord.
Stephen does the proper thing .. calls the police to report her missing.
But is he prepared for what the police will discover?
This is a fast easy read; a short story less than 50 pages. I know it must be difficult to write a complex story within just a few pages. This author put together a well-written story with characters that are very believable. The suspense is there .. like waiting for the other shoe to drop.
If you're an Adam Croft fan, you will enjoy this one.
The beginning of the story is engaging. It is an interesting mystery short-read but the ending was somewhat predictable but a surprising twist makes you jump on the chair. A good read.
Expect the unexpected. When I went into this read I certainly didn’t expect the way the story went and I really enjoyed it. Kept me in suspense from start to finish.
When Stephen Lightfoot comes home from work he’s distraught that his girlfriend Anya has disappeared. He contacts the police to report her missing but gets more than he bargained for when they investigate.
A very good quick read. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
This is a non-stop mystery/thriller that will have you guessing every step of the way. The protagonist, and unreliable narrator, Stephen Lightfoot, is a well constructed character who is full of hidden depths. Gone is a short and straight to the point novella that is impossible to put down. Croft's descriptions are believable and highly relatable throughout, keeping the story well and truly grounded in reality. Everything from the characters to their personalities and traits are disturbingly accurate. Expect the unexpected...
Amazing. When you think it can't get better it does in books. Stephen is a quiet, average man, but his hope and star in life is his girlfriend Anya. When she disappears, he knows something is wrong. Kept me reading to the end and want to get on with the next
Book8/50 was 3.5/4⭐️ because it was such a quick read, I love Adam Croft, and it was good!
Adam Croft wrote and narrators this Kindle Single, and I’m here for it! I listened to this while I was getting ready this morning and after I dropped ERD off at school. It was super quick!
A man with Aspergers has no friends, no family, and no vehicle, but has a job and a girlfriend, he’s got something going for him. Right?
He has the perfect girlfriend. They get along so well. They moved in quickly because they have an instant love they both know will last. But then… Things aren’t always as they seem, are they? Police become involved upon a missing persons report. This report unearths new findings, which can be rather suspicious and sinister. What’s the truth? Read to find out!
I recommend this book for a quick and easy read! It’s interesting and entertaining, and doesn’t take much brain power to follow- which I appreciate every now and then in a book! This is the third or fourth book I’ve read by Adam Croft, and it definitely won’t be my last!
He knows she hasn't just walked out on him. Something doesn't quite add up. But there's no way Stephen could ever prepare himself for the truth...

A very good quick read. Another great book from the author.
This is a short novella of 46 pages about Stephen Lightfoot who works at a supermarket. He does not drive, has no close friends, but he does have a girlfriend. Anya is the light in Stephen's dark life. But suddenly Anya is missing under mysterious circumstances and Stephen's life is turned upside down. Yet, he's determined to find the answers about her disappearance. Intriguing story for a quick read. I liked it.
(Short story that I got through Amazon Prime Reading) I have to confess that I did not really enjoy this story. It was too confusing for me and left me with more questions than answers! Did the character Stephen just make up the whole thing? Was it his Asperger's diagnosis causing delusions? Maybe there's some schizophrenia in there? Did he kill his parents? Why? What was the end result? Sadly, not worth the effort to download and read, in my opinion.

This book messed with my mind. I loved it. Shocking. Twisted. And really good. So much packed into a short story.
It was interesting. It was well written. The main character was very likeable. I understand where the story was suppose to go, but since it was a short story, maybe the last chapter should have had a couple of more chapters before it so it made since. Kinda of like that sentence.
This is a nice Kindle Single to pick up for a rainy night read. Sit in front of your fireplace and have the warmth and the words flow over you. This story will show you that our minds are always playing tricks on us. But this story takes us deeper into a troubled mind. There are a few twists in this story that keep you turning the pages.
This is a psycological ss of a man living in a world of his own making, but he is unaware of that fact until he reports his missing girfriend to the police. The ensuing investigation reveals all to him and to the reader. I am not particularly a fan of short stories; but I am a fan of Adam Croft and I highly recommend anything he writes, "Gone" included.
WOW is all I can say! As soon as I started reading it I got chills, I figured it could go a few different ways but I wasn't expecting that little twist. I had to read it all and I am glad I did not put it down. A must read for Adam Croft fans, he has a good way of keeping your attention and before you know it bam your done reading! The twists, the turns, the roundabouts, it all works.
This book has a weird storyline and I did not enjoy it. The writing style made the reading harder than it needed to be. I found the storyline confusing. This book was to "test the waters" on Adam Croft and I am so glad I did. Now I know not to waste time and money on his other works. Now to read something much, much better.
I became a fan of this author two novels ago, and have found his thrillers to keep my heart racing. This story is short but will hold your attention until the last page.
I loved the unravelling of the mystery of the missing girlfriend Anya. This is the first Adam Croft I have read but won't be the last as I like his style.
I liked the structure of this book and the layers of emotions. Steve arrives home to find it empty and Anya his girlfriend missing. Like an onion, layers peel away to reveal the truth behind her disappearance. A short story that really works.
A few days in the mind of a person with Asperger Syndrome is a scary place to be. Mental illness is something to be taken seriously and I have great empathy for anyone suffering from it and those affected by its results. A very sad, troubling, powerful story.
I loved this writer's style, just as a person going through this would tell it. The suspense grows as the story progresses. I began to imagine an impending outcome, but I was way off !
I feel the ending was rushed. There’s no real ending at all. I get the author wanted us to come up with our own ending, but didn’t really give us very much to go on if you ask me. I feel like I wasted time reading this unfortunately.
