Adrienne is sent to Spain to obtain a portrait of a women for her boss, however when she gets to the town from her past she realizes she has a lot to learn about herself. I felt this book read really fast and there where parts that were a little confusing for me. There were ask parts that I had to know what was going to happen next. There is some traveling between time which was pretty cool. Over all it was a book I was glad I read and you should make your own decision on it
** I received this book in exchange for an honest review **
An interesting read that had a lot of plot twists that were totally unexpected. There was a nice flow to the story that was a quick read at only eighty four pages but I felt I didn't really get to know the characters as well as we could have. There wasn't the depth to the characters of Adrienne nor Rodrigo that I've come to expect from Solon and Rodrigo's wife/ex-wife who showed up here and there didn't really seem to be necessary to the story except to give Adrienne doubts of where she and Rodrigo stand especially given Rodrigo's actions. The premise of the story was heartwarming and the museum in Spain as a backdrop was different along with the importance of the portrait. There are lost loves who reunite unexpectedly from twenty years before and seem to pick up where they left off, or do they? Twisted heritages. Unknown relatives. History repeats itself several times in the story and there are some surreal moments as well. Dona Clarita and Anthony's love story was true to form of the one who got away. There was some closure but the ending was too abrupt. I didn't realize I was at the end of the book while reading it on my Nook until I got to the author's acknowledgment page. There was enough meat to the story that it could have been longer than it was. Solon is an author I've read before and enjoyed her books. My favorite book was The Assignment and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
This is a great short read by Geraldine Solon that has all the feels and emotions you get in a full length novel. This is my first read by this author and I can promise you it won't be my last! I really enjoyed this story because it was unlike anything I have ever read. Refreshing and well written!
Adrienne is an art historian that has been sent on an assignment to get a paining back by her boss. When she gets to the destination, she realizes that the person she is trying to get the paining from is non other than her ex. Rodrigo is not the mayor and runs a winery as well. Rodrigo is going through a divorce when Adrienne arrives and it is in the ending stages so not final just yet. The sparks fly between these two and keep us entertained by wondering what is going to come of their relationship. Is it just a temporary flame again or could their actually be something there that could last?
We go on a roller coaster ride of emotions with Adrienne and all the while she is finding out some secrets with Rodrigo's family from the portrait that he doesn't even know. I love how the portrait takes Adrienne back to the days from when it was painted and gives her a glimpse into the past. So neat!
The characters are very well developed and the story flows really well. You will not be disappointed that you gave this one a shot, I promise. Unlike anything I have read before and really good!! I can't wait to see what is next for Geraldine Solon!!
A love affair that lasts thru the ages, even after death and a former love that flames back to life!
Adrienne Roche is an Art Historian on a buying mission for her boss, Jack Porter. He has sent her to Sierra Dunes, Spain to buy or steal the portrait of Dona Clarita that had been painted by his grandfather in the 1940's. To her consternation, Adrienne discovers that the portrait is owned by a former flame and that it is of his grandmother. Rodrigo Morales had been the love of her much younger self but she had left him to pursue a career and had married another man.
Both of them are now divorced and Adrienne finds herself falling in love again, but there are obstacles in the way. The least of which is the disputed ownership of the portrait and the reappearance of Rodrigo's former wife.
When Adrienne experiences the lives and events that surrounded the painting of the portrait she finds all the answers she has been seeking!
This was an intriguing read that combined romance, mystery and a little paranormal into a satisfying and very well done read.
When Adrienne got the chance to go back to where she had many happy memories in her youth, she though that would be the perfect escape after her divorce. But when she arrives in Sierra Dunes, Spain she learns that the painting she is after belongs to her old flame, that she hurt when she left him. Rodrigo is intrigued when he sees Adrienne and sends a note to have her come to the museum after it closes. Adrienne is not sure if she should bag the assignment to get Doña Clarita portrait and go home. Late one night after she had fallen asleep she began to learn some of the secrets the portrait held and the story behind it.
A story about a painting and the significance it has. Adrienne reconnects with Rodrigo after many years apart. She has been sent to purchase the painting from him. Rodrigo has no desire to sell this painting as it has a family tie, and he cannot part with it. As the story progresses, we learn more about this painting and the secrets it holds changes lives forever. A good story that kept me interested throughout. Read through Kindle Unlimited.
A quick read but I found it very interesting. The characters are intense and there is an undeniable attraction between Adrienne and Rodrigo. Mix in plenty of mystery and this is an remarkable story line. True love is hard to find but even harder to keep. This story shows true love can transend time and second chances are possible!
I voluntarily reviewed this book and all opinions expressed are my own.
The Portait by Geraldine Solon....This was a great short story beautifully written with heart and love. The story flowed nicely with some mystery, art, love, romance and wonderful characters. I enjoyed watching the story unfold between Rodrigo and Adrienne. This was my first book by Geraldine Solon and I can't wait to read more by her. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
I loved this story. It has it all, a mystery, a love story, and a hint of paranormal. This portrait ties so many lives together. Well written, with great characters. I voluntarily reviewed this story and have not been compensated in any way.
DNF'd at the halfway point because I just couldn't buy into the story. It seemed to move way to quickly to be believable, and I just didn't care for Adrienne.
