I didn’t need a babysitter. It was my husband’s idea to hire Gray Wolf Security, his idea to assign Elliott Wallace to watch over me while he was out of town. I’d rather be on my own, but that was the problem, wasn’t it?

My husband couldn’t stand the idea that I might talk to someone outside of his control, that I might have a mind of my own. But I did and I wasn’t about to sit still and let Elliott tell me what to do and how to do it. Never mind that Elliott was probably the hottest guy I’d ever met or that my marriage, a convenient arrangement, was nearing its end. Or that I was a virgin and I desperately wanted to not be a virgin anymore.

The fact that Elliott had a thing against women who cheat on their men wasn’t that much of an obstacle, was it?

I really liked it! I know that a lot of people will not like it because Brooks was married at the time but keep in mind that it is a marriage on paper only. Spoiler alert! The marriage was never consummated!

I don't know how to feel about this one, in general it wasn't bad, but there were a lot of small details that I didn't like, just small things that did not make sense and made it hard for me to get into the story. Also the fact that Elliot kept saying "this is not how we do things in this country, here we don't hit our wives", well, a lot of people do, it's one of those things that don't care about race, status, education, not even gender, abuse can come from anyone, the fact that he blamed it on his race was, well, racist.

GWS 2 is hired to protect the wife of a very important businessman. Elliot is given the task, and he immediately dislikes his charge, thinking that the husband is not worried about protecting her, but to keep her from going to her lover, for he thinks that all women are cheaters. She tries to escape so he decides not to leave her alone again, and while watching over her, he notices that she is covered in bruises, and he thinks that her husband shouldn't hit her, even if she is a cheater. So they start spending time together and he finds out about her brother, who is in a facility being treated for a brain injury. Brooks knows that having Elliot is temporary, but she wants him, and convinces him to have sex with her, and it turns out she is a virgin, that she married her husband because he offered to give her the money to take her brother to a better facility, but her husband is a drug dealer, and gay, and he controls everything she does so she won't have a chance to let anyone know that about him.

Her husband finds out that she went to see her brother and returns early from his trip, he takes her to his office and starts hitting her, so Elliot breaks in and rescues her, taking her away to a safe place. While they are trying to make a deal with the police so she can turn her husband in, while she is giving the police all the information she has on her husband, Elliot find out that her husband took her brother and with the help of the rest of the team he goes to save him, they fight, some people get hurt, and her husband dies. When he dies, she finds out that he left her the restaurants in his will and she is surprised to see that he cared about her in any way, but happy that she has her dream. She and Elliot stay together.

There were a lot of things that just didn't work for me in this book. First, it didn't make sense that her husband, a drug lord with a lot of power wouldn't have his own men to take care of her, I just can't understand that he would hire someone from outside to take care of her, especially a group that already sent one criminal group to jail. And she had all that information on her husband, and the cellphone that she had taken from the guy that was taking care of her brother, why don't use it to call the police and offer the information in exchange of her freedom? She had a lot of chances and didn't take them, not even for the chance of seeing her brother.

Elliot has sworn off women and relationships. He has his job at GWS2 and knows how to be professional. So when he gets a bodyguard job with a local businessman, he immediately knows the wife is a cheater. Or so he assumes. But not everything is as it seems and Elliot and his colleagues get in over their head with the Mexican mafia.

Brooks married to save her brother's life. What she didn't expect is to live like a prisoner with her abusive husband. So when her new bodyguard attempts to do his job she is shocked at the electricity between them. Not only could this be her salvation but possibly be the only love of her life.

OK - not that interesting

The story was not gripping, very vanilla pudding with a few sex scenes thrown in. Gray wolf Security 2 with David at the helm. David gets a call from the owner of some very "in" restaurants in SAN Antonio for a job to protect his wife while he was out of the country. Elliott was assigned the protection detail for the wife Brooks. He realizes that he was not hired to protect but be her jailer.

Love this series

Each book in this series draws you in to the Gray Wolf security family. They are filled with drama, intrigue and love. A great read.

This was not my favorite for a few reasons, I didn't like that the heroine was married even if it was a marriage of convenience. I liked Elliot but felt bad for him a lot of the time.

Elliot doesn't trust anyone, his ex wife and mother had a lot to do with that... Brooks is in a jacked up situation but she put herself there to try and make her life and her brothers life better
