Dr. Lila Emerson is finally free of the shadow of her politically connected family, with her new job in a small town Emergency Room. But her new peace is shattered when she encounters the dangerous, but compelling Striker. He's everything she should stay away from, but all she craves. And since he keeps turning up in her ER, he's hard to avoid.
As Vice President of No Prisoners outlaw motorcycle club, Striker is no stranger to violence. But when it touches the pretty doctor he wants in his bed, he'll do anything to keep her safe. When Striker and Lila are thrust together, sparks fly and passions ignite. Before long they find themselves entangled in a relationship neither saw coming.
The MC can and will eliminate any threat against Lila, but what if they—and the man she's falling for—are the reason she’s in danger?
This was one of the better mc books I've read lately. I loved Striker and Lila was one of the better h's I've seen in a while. She was smart, sassy, funny and wasn't a drama queen. She knew when to keep quiet and didn't overreact to everything. She had common sense and used it, which is rare in most mc books. She was in trouble, she asked for help. I hate in books where the h is being threatened, run off the road, her house gets broken into, etc. and she doesn't tell anyone because she either doesn't want to bother anyone or she thinks it's a mistake and will just go away. That didn't happen here at all and it was refreshing. I loved all the guys in the mc and look forward to the next book. One problem I remember, in the scene when she's talking to Snake, it calls Snake Shiv a couple of times. I could see how that could confuse someone. Shiv is the president of Strikers club while Snake is the rivals president. But that was really no big deal. Again, I really enjoyed this book.
Heads up fellow book junkies and M.C. diehards - a new Biker Club just showed up on my Kindle radar and they are looking good.
This is the first in a series and focuses on Striker, the Vice-president of the Club. He is a gorgeous hero. I thought he was the perfect blend of passion, humour , loyalty and coolness. At 36 , he has played, partied and lived hard. He has always been happy to get down & dirty with Club girls , then he is truly knocked on his deliciously jeans clad ass by the sweet, hot new Doctor in the local E.R.
Lila has made major changes in her life, for good reason, but the last thing she imagined was falling hard for a Biker. I loved these two together. They learn about each other as they fall in love and you could feel the intensity of their attraction palpating off the pages. Much of the drama is about what happens to them rather than between them.
The secondary characters absolutely rock this book. I cannot wait for their books. The camaraderie between the guys and the hilarious banter is brilliantly written.
If, like me , you like an M.C. book that has romance and isn't totally dominated with angst and violence, then check this out. It is more like Autumn Jones Lake's Lost Kings or River Savage's Knight's Rebels rather than the ultra gritty Madeline Sheehan. Even if you prefer the really dark and gritty stuff I would recommend this book because it's thoroughly enjoyable, sexy, well paced and pretty addictive.
HEA? Yes Cheating? No Recommend over 18's only due to sexual content and swearing.
I really enjoyed this biker romance, the hero and heroine were both mature people who knew what they wanted. I liked that they had good communication and talked over any issues. The story was nicely paced and kept me interested too, I will be checking out other books in the series once they come out.
4-4.5 Dr. Lila Emerson is working the night shift in the emergency room when the local biker club of their small town makes a normal appearance due to a injured member. When she goes to see to them due to how they can affect the other patients she see the VP of the No Prisoners outlaw crew is there too she has to try to keep her attraction to him under control.
Striker is extremely attracted to the doctor but doesn't make any moves on her. But when members from a rival club come to make trouble he will not let it touch her. Unfortunately, she get pulled into the trouble and he will now do anything to protect her. And as they spend time together and get to now each other they give into the attraction but both wonder if it will last even as the threats hang over their head.
Okay I seriously enjoyed this book. The heroine was likable and had strength. The hero was alpha but not OTT. The secondary characters were great. I loved Jester, Hook, and Macie. The narrator did a great job to me. He made the characters their own even with their own voices and really did the story and didn't just read it which can be boring. He also could put down the sexy so I appreciated that too. So I will say the reason I wouldn't say 5 star is the heroine sometimes saying things as why it wouldn't work with Striker. I did later understand her issue was due to how she had to deal with her family and those things were planted deep but she really came around and she never was TSTL which made a difference too.
I would consider this more biker lite since it wasn't as intense but was a outlaw club. It had stuff with the MC but that wasn't explored deep but what was more relevant to the story line and what could continue to be brought in future books. It was low angst relationship wise and it had some steam. There is brief OW drama but it doesn't even last but a page or two. But I really enjoyed this audiobook.
I struggled a bit with the pacing and the lack of connection between Lila and Striker initally. However, no shit for brains or TSTL moves saved the book.
I really liked this first book to this series. More than I thought I would. Even though the writing is very simple, as well as the plot, the writing is still clean. Precise. To the point and engaging. The plot was very simple in that it was easy to determine who the villains are, but the journey is still very entertaining and keeps you hooked.
I loved all the characters here, and their set ups in this book. Our heroine, Lila was not a TSTL female, either, so that's always a plus😆
And Striker? Lawd have mercy! Dude was just fire 🔥
The spice factor in this book was definitely on point and just present enough to keep you happy 🥵🥵🥵🥵
I loved the way this one turned out for Lila and Striker, but there were things left undone regarding Lila and her family issues.. I was hoping more would be given there, but that plot line just disappeared altogether in this story.
Also, as entertaining a read this was, it still didn't blow me away where I'd want to stay in this world awhile. ERGO the 4 🌟.
The only other book I want to read in this 5 book series, is book 2, Jester. He was very present throughout this entire novel. He's hilarious 😂 too. So I'm very curious about his story. So I will be reading his book next. The others? Read the synopsis to books 3-5 and just not interested enough to go there.
All 5 books 📚 in this series has me feeling very nostalgic, price wise though. All books are $2.99 (👀, it's my 2010 wallet again! Oh My!) 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ok, Lilly Atlas, I see you. I see you and the No Prisoners MC. I read this whole MC book and enjoyed it. That's a rarity for me when it comes to these stories as I'm really picky and have a real high standard. I really liked Atlas's choice of third person POV story telling. It flowed effortlessly. Her characters were great. And I mean all of them. The camaraderie of the brotherhood was awesome and the woman introduced were great too. The club stuff was lacking and some of it unbelievable but the romance was perfect for a biker story. I really adored Striker and Lila. Atlas made them and their story plausible within the MC realm. Some moments were over the top but overall Striker hit the right notes for me and I'm continuing on with the series.
First time author for me. Really enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to the next in the series. It has a little bit of grit/violence in it but the major focus of the story is the romance between Striker and Lila. She's a ER doctor running from a controlling father and trying to be independent. Striker is the VP of the MC. The chemistry is off the charts between them but it's not an insta-lust-love story. Both come with their own baggage but manage to work around it. Striker is possessive, loyal and protective. Lila is independent and is everything a MC VP would want in an ol'lady. This one is more on the sweet side but with enough grit/suspense to hold. Really enjoyed the secondary characters and looking forward to Jester's book.
Lila moved to Crystal Rock, AZ a few months ago and is a very well liked physician at Desert Community Hospital. She moved away from DC to get away from her family and live her own life. Striker is the VP of the No Prisoners MC. Lila has come to know the members of No Prisoners because the members are often at the hospital getting stitched up or patched up by her. She has also noticed Striker, just as he has noticed her. They are attracted to each other, but Lila knows Striker is not the white picket fence type and Striker knows Lila is the marrying type; Something he is not really looking for at this time. He is fine with his hook-ups, even though he is having a hard time not fantasizing about the doctor.
Striker and Jester, another MC member are at the hospital again one night with Gumby, part of the MC Crew. After she takes care of her patient she is back working on her proposal and he can't help but be around her and talk to her. She is surprised he knows that she has been working on a proposal for the concussion and sports safety program she hoped to have accepted at the local high school. This was the first time they had ever had a one on one conversation. While Striker is still at the hospital waiting for his guy to get checked out, there is a visit from the Grimm Brothers which is a rival MC. Lila tries to confront them and get them out of the hospital. Striker is livid that she would put herself in danger because he is concerned about her safety. In the midst of him being angry and frustrated he kisses her.
The very next night, Jester and Striker are at Lila's home as they have another medical emergency. Lila immediately gets on Striker's bike to go help out the man in need of her help. She is surprised she would put her career and license at risk just to help Striker out. Through the whole procedure of her taking care of his man, Striker feels extremely proud of her. When she is done, he takes her back home and he can't help but kiss her again.
There is a threat and Lila really doesn't know where it is coming from. She has bad history with her family in DC, which is the reason she moved to Arizona, and there is also someone stalking her. She is not sure who is behind these threats. She ends up agreeing to protection from No Prisoners. In return for their protection she will be their doctor on call. Of course Striker knows he will be the one in charge of her protection and takes her to his home.
This was an interesting read as we see a respected doctor and the VP of a MC try to come to an understanding about their feelings. He of course knows she deserves someone better than him with more to offer, and she cannot help be attracted to him because he is so different from anyone she has ever been involved with. In the end neither of them can fight their feelings and when they finally give into what they are feeling, it is steamy. Their chemistry is off the charts. Striker is possessive and very protective of Lila and he is always impressed and feels pride in everything she does and how she handles herself with the MC aspect of his life. Lila is smart and loyal and she finds something with Striker and his MC group that she has never had.
This story has suspense, mystery, rival gangs, kidnappings, stalking, some violence, interesting side characters, and the steamy romance between two people from totally different worlds getting together and making it work. She realizes the MC is a family, which is something she has never really had even though she comes from an affluent family.
OW Drama: OM Drama: No Cheating HEA Sweet Epilogue
Randomly found this series on audible and I'm not even mad about it.
Striker introduces you to Striker and Lila. Now they were pretty easy to fall in love with because they were equally awesome in their own way. Lila was smart, sassy, and all kinds of fun to be around. So when they first meet each other, sparks sort of flew but so did the laughter.
The romance and all the characters in this book just made me smile. Not sure what else to say but I did like how Lila used her common sense more than any other character in any other book that I've read before. So that was a huge plus and definitely made me like her even more.
4.5 stars I can't seem to bring myself to give it the full five stars for some reason. Probably because I can't see myself rereading it (I did 3 yrs later) and it's not the most unique MC story I've read. But I reeeally did enjoy it!
Lila was badass and Striker was surprisingly empathetic for such a rough biker bro. The way they played off each other was both amusing and relatable. I was pleased with the various threats and villains, though one of them will continue on through the next book and I really wish he had died painfully in this book.
A couple of editing errors, but not enough to annoy and distract from the story. Lots of sexy times and dirty talk, which wasn't overly graphic but damn steamy all the same.
Oh, I do have one complaint - Lila is estranged from her family and we get one scene where she calls her father. I would have liked a follow up to that. I think that after all we're told about her home life, a scene where she really sticks it to her father would have been great.
Overall this was a great story - especially for an MC story, which are hit or miss for me. If you're into MCs, add this one to your TBR shelf!
(Review posted from my phone, so I apologize for any typos!)
Great start to an MC series. Lila/Stitch has been eyeing Striker since the first time he came into her ER with a member of the MC. Finally they get together, and then lots of drama, medical emergencies, and sexy times ensue. A rival MC to battle with in this book and in the future.
Poor Jester, how many times was he gonna get to see Stricker's white arse...lol
This was amazing. I loved Stitch and Striker together they were awesome. Shit happens, and boy, did the end make my jaw drop. I can't wait to read the next book.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED Lila and Striker together and individually. Striker was all-purpose without being overbearing, and Lila was so level-headed and sassy. the perfect amount of take no shit and understanding. Female characters like Lila don't come around often. The supporting characters, were just that SUPPORTING they didn't overshadow the main characters. if all Lilly books are this good, I will definitely be reading more.
Bad. Not much else to say. This is a wish fulfillment story: she's (of course) a very rich, gorgeous and intelligent ER doctor; he's perfect too. Great body, a killer who whines because she's too perfect for him. There's lust/love at first sight. They have no problems, no adjustments to make, the MC is fake and so is the town. I'm not sure what is worse, the cheesy-ness, the absurd lack of reality, the shallowness or the utter boredom. At 70% I'm bored to the point of tears.
First let me say this book wasn’t bad. But at times for me it fell short. I was confused when it was suppose to be one talking/thinking and it was the other. I did happen a few times. Overall it was a good storyline but at times fell flat to me.
Jester! My man. I liked this but if I'm honest I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if Jester wasn't in it. 3 stars for Striker and Lila. Bumped to 4 because of Jester.
This is my second book from this author. I really enjoyed the first, so I was intrigued to see how this one would go.
I’ve been on an MM spree for a while... so delving back into MF felt a little generic. This was also insta-lust, which is fine, but I prefer the characters to dance around each other a little more.
I got about 10 chapters in, but this just didn’t grab me.
Author writing style flow beautifully. Smooth and easy read for me. Strong and smart H/h. Funny, hot and romantic. Good storyline with wonderful supporting characters.
I love biker lite romances and this one definitely fits that description. For the safety gang, you'll be glad to know that there's no cheating, break up, or OW/OM. While there is a club girl who tries to make trouble, she was shot down within a page or two. And while there's violence, it's nothing too graphic or cringe-worthy. And of course, there's an HEA at the end.
So why did I rate it 3 stars? There was definitely a lack of connection between me and the main characters. I felt detached and I wasn't even that worried when they were in danger. Now, as a couple, they were pretty sweet, especially Striker. He wasn't the typical mc H that cussed a lot and felt like he should be tough all the time - not showing his feelings to the h. Instead, he was affectionate a lot of the time. He never tried to push her away (not until towards the end at least). And he wasn't afraid of being committed to only one woman.
The h was pretty ok too. I was even less invested in her though. She wasn't TSTL at all. She also wasn't bitchy or too much of a smartass. She was actually pretty cool - she didn't get angry or blame the H for whatever trouble was happening to her. She wasn't bothered too much by the crude jokes or the OWs during a party. She just did her thing. I just can't pinpoint why I didn't love her.
The plot of the story was pretty ok. Nothing inconsistent or flawed. Just a tad predictable. I kinda knew what was going to happen next so there were no hidden surprises for me.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, if you're looking for a quick read while waiting for an appointment or riding the bus/train to or from work. It'll keep your mind off things but it won't consume you. Will I reread it again? Probably not.
This was the book that got it all start for me and my affair with the No Prisoners MCs. Striker was VP of the MC and he took his job very seriously. He also took the safety of one sexy little doctor very seriously also. Dr. Lila Emerson made her way free of her family and her new life came with a few challenges and a few issues of the crazy type. She just was not completely sure which was which.
Watching Striker fall for Lila was good. Watching Lila gain her independence from her family and stand up for herself was good. Watching the two of them together and their MC family was what made this great for me. A read I will return to again and again.
Narrator Review of . . . Acer (No Prisoners MC, #3) . . . Both of the narrators for this bad boy, mc, contemporary romance have hit the nail on the head with their perspective performances. Noah Michael Levine he just hooked me from got. I have followed this series on audio since book one and to say that I am on the edge would be putting things mildly. I love his voice. The smoothness that flows and allows for flawless transitions. He has pitch and diction down for both the male and female characters. He gives the character Hook that perfect accent. Just on his voice alone makes me want so much more of the No Prisoners MCs series. Erin deWard did a fabulous job with both male and female characters. I could distinguish between characters and gender. The flow of the audio was perfect. It kept pace with speed variation. There were no hiccups or skips.
I highly recommend this read to any and everyone that loves MC romances, Bad Boy romances, romances with a hint of dangers, and slight suspense.
I enjoyed this story. It had some twists that I didn't not expect. It was interesting how the romance between Striker and Lila developed and grew. I also like how Lila fought for what she wanted and didn't let the "I am breaking up with you because I am not good for you and you deserve better" line. She called completed BS on that and got right up in his face about that!! About time a lead woman stepped up to the plate and knocked the hero off his I know everything high horse.
The sex was hot!!! Lot's of steam once it happens. There are no games and back and forth the characters are straight out open and let it all hang out.
What I liked: 1. Jester, Gumby, and Hook- three of the No Prisoners men 2. Lila's nickname: Stitch 3. The storyline 4. The no BS games between the couple: Lila & Striker
The only thing I wish had played out better was the stuff between Lila and her public figure of father. There should have been more involvement there in some way. It could have beefed up the story more.
Overall, I enjoyed this story and can't wait to see what happens in Jester's book with Emily.
Re-Read: 09/27/22 4.5 stars. I love a woman who is good under pressure. And Lila is definitely that woman.
Her and Striker are so good together. I really enjoyed all the banter with the guys that she had goin on, and the fact that she had a brotherly sort of relationship with some of the other guys in the club.
So glad I reread this book. I really love this author’s style and the way she writes the women in her books to be strong and so so loyal even in the most impossible situations.
Dr Lila meets biker bad boy striker in the A&E department. After agreeing to help a club member out after hours she calls on their help to protect her from a stalker and becomes embroiled in the No Prisoners MC club.
This book just didn’t hit the mark for me. I’m not sure I am into the whole MC genre in the first place but I feel this was not the strongest example of one.
I felt Lila was quite soft and naive, especially considering she was a doctor. I found her ‘project’ a little homespun and annoyingly ‘right on’. She just felt a bit prim and cosy. AND she gave into her instalust almost instantly.
Example of her inner struggle:
‘I am a sensible doctor. I can’t possibly fall for a scary biker who probably commits dubious crimes. Hmmm... he’s probably slept with a lot of women though so he’s probably good in bed. Schwing!!’
I just prefer a bit more push/pull.
She also seemed to dive headfirst into helping out the MC which realistically would threaten her career, her standing in the community and her project. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted her to help them, but I expected a little more thought; some reticence or persuasion going on. But no. She was just all in.
I stopped at 45% when she did some slut shaming and criticised a biker girl for wearing slutty clothes and shoes. It just made me find her frumpy, old fashioned and hypercritical after she herself walks around Striker’s house in her skimpy pyjamas.
I know that I might have expected that I would love this series just like I’ve loved her other one. But honestly I was hesitant. What if that one was different and this one didn’t land with me? But I shouldn’t have worried because man she delivered. This couple was everything, a brawler and a Doctor?? Come on how good is that? The only thing that could make life better is instantly continuing on and getting Jesters story because that’s my baby.
