From a young age, Aubrey Grayson devoured books with alarming alacrity. Ignoring her mother’s pleas of “Come and watch TV with us!”, her most frequently uttered response was “Just let me finish this chapter!” She dreamed that one day, she could write stories just as entertaining as the ones she found at her local library. When a middle school teacher informed her that her writing suffered in comparison, little Aubrey gave up on the dream of living a life full of words, and found solace in something she discovered she liked just as much – numbers! As she grew, she eventually embarked on a career in corporate finance, complete with a shiny, expensive MBA. But as God is wont to do, He pulled her off this path a few years in, and gave her back her dream of writing. She hopes you enjoy reading her work at least as much as she enjoyed writing it, which is to say – a lot! Aubrey Grayson lives in Texas with her own Prince Charming, and three not-so-little children.

I knew I was going to like Aubrey Grayson’s debut novel from the moment her hero Nicholas Daventry declares his elderly aunt’s masquerade ball harem girl costume “ague-inducing“. I fell head over heels in love with it (and with Nick) about the time he dubs the heroine “his very own Cinderella“. Legacy Redeemed is sweet and funny and romantic, and it reminds us all that redemption is offered lavishly.

The wry humor had me chuckling often, particularly at Nick’s dialogue with himself. I’ve already mentioned the ague-inducing observation but another fave? Nick’s internal berating of himself for noticing Susannah’s nose! Letitia – Nick’s childhood friend and Susannah’s new one – provides additional opportunities for warm humor, and Nick’s son Gabriel is an absolutely adorable cause for plenty of smiles.

And let’s not forget the romance!! There’s not a lot of kissing on these pages but what there is more than makes up for the deficit. And I never thought I’d say this but I didn’t really miss the kissing. (Are you all still with me or have you passed out from the shock?!?) Nick and his thoughts about what he’s most certainly not feeling (wink wink) for Susannah and Susannah with her thoughts of the same are so deliciously swoonworthy that the kissing is just icing on the cake!

But even more than the delightful humor and the swoony romance, the theme of Legacy Redeemed is sincere and naturally incorporated into the story. The message of grace, redemption, and forgiveness fits so smoothly within the framework of the plot that it never comes across as preachy or trite. Instead its sweet truth will wrap around your heart and soothe even as it nudges your spirit.

Bottom Line: Legacy Redeemed by Aubrey Grayson is a refreshing new voice in Christian historical fiction. It is witty and droll and romantic and full of grace, not to mention vibrant characters that settle in your heart. The underlying subplot of Susannah’s guardianship promises to continue its intriguing story in future books, and I’m very much looking forward to anything this author has coming up next! If you’re a fan of Kristi Ann Hunter, then you definitely need to check out Aubrey Grayson!

"What a shame. It might have been a lovely friendship."

Just like Cinderella's Prince Charming, Nick Daventry has just watched a most intriguing young woman disappear into the night, never having even discovered her name. Finding her crying in the Weston House library, instead of enjoying her evening on the dance floor, was a clear indication of her extreme distress. The lady seemed resigned to whatever predicament had been forced upon her, and Nick could only hope that their paths might cross again, that is, until he discovered where her hired carriage was taking her.

Susannah Blackmon cannot believe that she discussed her troubles with a perfect stranger, although he did seem to listen with genuine sincerity and even innocuously offered a plausible solution, if she could summon the courage to find the vicarage with the supposed "thinking cottage". Maybe she could become invisible long enough to escape the vile man determined to ruin her, or would running away simply delay the inevitable?

When Nick becomes reacquainted with the woman that he knows is claiming to be someone other than herself, he debates whether or not he can use the information to his advantage; after all she is quite lovely and she seems to have a knack for solving the puzzle of his inheritance. Perhaps the more appropriate question would be whether or not she will bring danger to his own front door. And why does it matter so much?

"Legacy Redeemed" has every component of a great story, and while the scene transitions may appear a little abrupt, the core of the story is so interesting and the author's writing voice is so pleasant and unique, that there is no doubt that the best is yet to come from author, Aubrey Grayson.

This was a new author for me, and oftentimes I read with trepidation, not knowing if it will be clean or not. This was a clean read! Well, there was one phrase and I am never sure if it's a cuss word or people are just bent to go hell's way! That was the only questionable one. Phew! There were a couple of places where there were sexual references by very seedy and lewd characters and I think that the author did that to make their characters more realistic, more evil - and it did just that - they were the dregs of society even though they were a part of the nobility. (For those two reasons I couldn't give it five stars.) Then there were the Christians, who, finally, were wonderful! They were loving and forgiving, and even though our main character had allowed some terrible sins into her life, they were willing to love her and forgive her when she wasn't as willing to give herself that blessing. Our hero had some troubles with her sin, but the faith of the others reached to his and he redeemed himself and found his path again. The little boy in this was adorable too!

Legacy Redeemed By Aubrey Grayson

Inspirational story, I give four stars...Excellent usage of God's scriptures, and prayers, connection was strong in the storyline...Little too oblivious and sloppy in parts..And fast wrapping up an ending, surprising when Alex just automatically shows up to save the day..But it was in God's plan

Sweet Jesus Romance. Meaning it was sweet, no sexy times, and quite a lot of prayer and discussion about faith. I’m not super into those things, but it was a cute story, good character development and interesting settings. There were definite villains but the hero and heroine had their own personal journeys to overcome.

Compelling read!

I couldn’t put this down. I loved the plot and the characters and am looking forward to the sequel. My favorite part was the treasure hunt and the accompanying clues. They were quite clever. It is a great depiction of God’s mercy and redemption.

I haven't read a romance novel in i don't know how long. This was a fun read and no S-E-X so you can feel good about passing it on to your mom.

I really liked this story, but it’s a lot more churchy than I usually choose, also the editing was not great with a lot of typos.

A quick read. I liked the story lines and especially how I didn't have to wait long for something interesting to happen. I wasn't sure how things were going to end going in, but I liked it.
