Black Lace

Dark Obsession

Rate this book
Ambitious young interior designer Annabel Moss is delighted when a new assignment takes her to the country estate of Lord and Lady Corbett-Wynne. The grandeur of the house and the impeccable family credentials are a facade for shockingly salacious practices. Lord James, Lady Marina, their family, and their subservient staff maintain a veneer of respectability over some highly esoteric sexual practices.

This book ended up surprising me.
It starts with a fairly loosely held together story about a young female interior decorator that goes to work at an English mansion, where the family is beyond peculiar and their sexually charged everyday life is taken with a shrug. So I didn't give much thought about the step-siblings playing, the Lord riding the female stable hands and the seemingly frigid lady of the manor or how the interior decorator is pulled into their lives.
Then suddenly the pieces snaps into place and a bigger picture is revealed and the heartfelt message is delivered; somewhat clumsily but it's more than what most books in this genre usually offers.
Sometimes it's good to stray away from the contemporary books and take a step back in the history of Erotica.

OK this one has been sitting on my "reading" shelf for... forever.

I read the sample and then accidentally purchased it (ha). I skim read it and if you are looking for a book with lots of sex and little emotional investment this could be for you. I know that Black Lace books are full of sex and action I just didn't "connect" with this one. It just felt too emotionless to me and it didn't hit the mark for me.

There needs to be a better description of this book. The sex involved was not what I was expecting and there was nothing in the description saying it revolved around step siblings and a guy that likes to be ‘treated’ like a horse. I stopped reading it a few chapters in because that just isn’t something I enjoy reading. I just wish the description of the book was a bit clearer.

Fulfilled its promises

Very much appreciated the twists and turns in Annabel's time in the mansion and witnessing the growth of her erotic sensibility. In no way did it disappoint.
