The Lucas family are a well-known Baptist clan based out of Atlanta. Sweeter than a Georgia peach to some, this family might look normal and almost perfect on the outside. But behind closed doors... there's a rot that runs all the way to the pit of their bloodline! The family patriarchs Evette and Tyrone who have seven children together travel the church circuit giving the gift of song to church attendees. But their 18 year marriage is not without its problems. Not even close. Evette is fighting her flesh and Tyrone is trying to keep his family together. From the outside looking in, this family seems like a strong Christian family singing and living for God! But when you pull the covers back they put the “D” in a Dysfunctional Family! Find out what happens in part one of Exposing Secrets!
The Lucas family has a lot of issues. They all start with the parents, Tyrone and Evette. It's obvious that Tyrone isn't satisfying Evette in the bedroom. That doesn't give her the right to cheat like she does though. She needs counseling because she always ask God for forgiveness after she cheats on her husband. Tyrone decided he was just done with Evette after learning she slept with his brother and two of their kids doesn't belong to him. I really can't say that I blame him.
I followed this the the end because I wanted to see how the characters grew and changed. However, the end wasn’t included. The book ends at a climactic point with no conclusion or resolution. The POV is all over the place, bouncing from one character to the next constantly. Several typos in this short “story.” It held promise for being a good redemption tale, but fell drastically short.
This was a five star read, due to I could not put this down until it was completed. I truly enjoyed thus book and I am looking forward to the next installment in this series.
Wow! This book was an absolute page turner. All I can say is I am ready for book two in this series. If you haven't read this book I think you should. My mouth was hung open a couple of times and some head shaking.
Although Evette is something else, I found this first book moved too ow for me. Took me several months to complete it because I put it down so many times. It is definitely not a page-turner.
This book reveals that even religious families have their trials and tribulations. This family seems as if they are going to take things to a all time high!!!
The characters drew me into the story. However I would've liked less typos to make the reading flow easier. But I am definitely curious to know, what happens next!
The perfect family isn't so perfect. What is done in the dark always comes to light especially when you are leaders of a church. I can't wait to read book 2!
I don’t like books that depict church people as out right sinners! It makes those that are truly committed look so bad and it’s a bad reflection on the church
I get that we are all sinners and no one sin is bigger than the other, but it's this kind of stuff that keeps me constantly battling. I can't stand to see people repeating behaviors over and over just because they know God will forgive. At what point do they grow?? As soon as they leave the church ground, they are right back doing wrong. Nice change of reading for me from the urban books
