This book introduces a couple styles of italic and a couple styles of black lettering in manageable increments, a handful of related letters at a time. There are helpful gridlines in the back that can be copied or traced over for practicing on. These lessons don't include a lot of flourishes, just the basics, so this book would probably make a good starting point for getting used to using a calligraphy pen.
