Other than being too long this was a good story. Connie lost everything in one day: her fiance died, she lost their baby, and when she got home from the hospital their apartment had been emptied and all she had were her personal belongs. Connie was not an emotionally strong person and she went around the bend. She devised a devious plan to stay close to her dead fiance and that's the story.

DNF. I was about 25% into the book when it got to spicy for me. That was surprising since I don't even remember reading a swear word or any mention of sex before that. Just boom. I've read several of Fluke's books in the past and liked them so I was surprised by this one. I guess I'll stick with the Hannah series.

Well, it had some good parts to the story and then some very far fetched parts. Lots of murders and a crazy serial killer getting away with very gullible people who believed her stories. Was not my kind of book, but I think once I started i wanted to see how it would end......
I prefer other books by this author and was surprised how this story was developed.....
Not particularly fond of the book and many of the dark descriptions and events were way off the wall.
Do not recommend for any kind of a good read.....in my opinion....

The story line itself was good however, the sexual content made it loose 2 stars. That is a huge turn off for me in books, it is not needed to make a book good. The only reason I finished the book was because I wanted to see how it ends. Guess I'll have to just stick with Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swensen series and stop reading any other books that she writes. I love the Hannah series.

Suspenseful!

Eyes was gripping and suspenseful! The killer's descent into madness was chilling as well as tragic. Jill the heroine was brave and intelligent. You root for her throughout the story as well as Detective Lake! They would make a great detective team! I highly recommend this story!

Not really impressed with this. The plot was decent but the point of view was a bit primitive and the love sick detective was boring. The storyline was a bit forced. I think she improved quite a bit and found her niche in the Hannah Swenson series.

This mystery, written as Chris Hunter (pseudonym) initially, was really written by author Joanne Fluke. It was a fascinating, compelling read for me, with well developed main characters and interestingly assorted other characters in a substantial group of strange medical and psychiatric mysterious diagnostic categories. From beginning to end, this book was surprising. Cleverly done.

This was a good book. I liked most of the characters. Jill got on my nerves. She was way too naive. Forgive your cheating husband once- fine, stay with him because your having a baby & you have to hire a lesbian caretaker because of his indiscretions- please that’s just pure stupidity. Other than that it was a well written book.

Good story line, the "villain" in this story was pretty scar to me. Had a predictable ending but I don't think I would have liked it if the ending had been different. A good read.

I have read all of Joanne Flukes' Hannah Swenson mysteries but this is the first of her earlier novels that I have read. It is a dark story with none of the humor of the Swenson books. It is well written and has twists and turns. I will have to read more of these novels by Fluke.

Good Read

The book was a little hard to get into. It began to come together and I couldn't put it down. Very interesting plot with good characters. Quite realistic. I will read more of Joanne Doyle's books.

I loved this story. It was kind of creepy!

When Alan Stanford dies without a will, his wealthy parents cut off his pregnant fiancee Connie Wilson from everything while she is in hospital recovering from the loss of their baby caused by the shocking news of Alan's fatal car accident.

Alan was an organ donor and in her grief, Connie decides she can connect with Alan through the recipients of his organs. She becomes a serial killer when the male organ donors reject Connie.

The police are left with a series of murders they don't know are connected until one recipient, Neil, and his ADA wife, Jill are the target of Connie's madness.

I wish we knew why Alan's 2 car tires blew and killed him - that was never explained and not very likely to happen?

I read this thought the Hamilton Public Library.

Wow...this is WAAAAAY different from the Joanne Fluke that I am used to! I really enjoyed this side of her! You could definitely tell that this was an older novel with some of the references, but I think that just made it better.

There's a couple point-of-views in this one. After her fiance Alan dies in a car crash, Connie goes on a mission to help keep him in her life. Then there's Jill who has a cheating husband who just won't change his ways (no matter what he "promises"). Watch their relationship unravel.

Very creepy but good book!
