A new full-length, stand-alone novel in the Dark Moon Shifters universe. Being alone is better than getting hurt. Nikolai Valten just wants to run his security company, stay away from the dark moon gatherings where everybody knows about his latest heartbreak, and not catch grief about any of it from his best friend and business partner Dirk. When a wealthy tycoon tries to hire Nikolai to protect his son, he wants no part of it. He doesn't take bodyguard assignments anymore, and the last person he needs to get involved with is a wealthy businessman who seems to know he's a werewolf. He's prepared to throw away a million-dollar payday to avoid the complications that will surely come with it. But then the son, Remy, walks into the office, and Nikolai forgets his plan to refuse the job. He'll protect Remy from the people who would try to hurt him, while trying to protect himself from the feelings and the pain he's been avoiding for too long. Lone Wolf is a stand-alone novel within the Dark Moon Shifters universe, with no cliffhanger.

3.75 Amazon; 3.2 Goodreads — I wish I could give 3.5, for "Liked, but not REALLY liked"

My second M/M shifter-&-human romantic-suspense UF by this author, but my first of this series. The bad-guys action is only in the first part of the book; answers as to who was behind it are found "off-screen" shortly before the end, while our leads are in a safe location., The relationship gets fully committed awfully fast, but it was still appealing. Remy is sweet, while Nikolai only acts like a tightly-wound *ahem* donkey a few times, and you can't actually blame him for trying to be professional. Although everyone has a first lover, the experience imbalance in Nick's being Remy's first and last did make me wonder a bit whether I'd be comfortable with it by the end, but I was. The humorously relatable sibling and friend dynamics among the shifters (unsolicited advice features strongly) are well done, though the very mixed-species group is unusual (Dirk is actually a bull, dangerous but not a predator, and Leo's dual nature is something I've never seen before). There is definitely some explicit content (plus some blunt adult-only teasing), but I would call it love scenes, not just sex scenes. The messing with the captured baddie's head is amusing, but I did find the shifter protagonists not really careful enough throughout the book about keeping their big secret. The mainly-smooth writing could also use one more editorial pass to catch several little things, like a missing period or quote, one confusing mention of a "day before" that I think should say "day after", and a couple ambiguous pronouns (always a concern when both leads are the same gender). Overall, I remain of the opinion that this author is worth reading, though not top of my list.

Instamate in denial shifter. You know the score, "he smells so good but I can't possibly....".

Highly enjoyable and well crafted novel

Grayson's Lone Wolf is a pleasure to read. Thoughtful characters, a steady pace to the plot, and polished writing elevate this book from the growing field of M/M Shifter romance.
This author makes my inner book snob smile as her books aren't just a montage of limp sex scenes connected by a bland narrative.

This was nice change from the usual fated mates book in that our shifter didn't recognize it right off the bat. Nikolai has got some baggage, both personal and professional, that's messing with his head. Remy is young, inexperienced, and being smothered by his wealthy, controlling father. The attraction, chemistry, and sexual tension are all very tightly woven into the story. While the story takes place over just a few days, it feels like it takes a long time (and some nudging by various other characters) for the guys to get together. But when they do...bam! I thought that the crime suspense portion of the story was also well done and compelling. There was a good amount of full and partial shifting to keep it firmly grounded as a shifter story. While this is the second in what seems to be a loosely connected series set in the same world, it is completely a standalone. For those who have read the first, I think this one was even better. I can't wait to see more from this author.
