Tracing weapons-grade nuclear material stolen from Russia, Mack McFall discovers that the trail leads to Atlanta and a planned terrorist attack on the Olympic games.
While I don't believe there was a connection between the book and the actual bombing, I do find it fascinating that this book was written prior to the Atlanta Olympics, fictionally predicting some sort of terrorist attack on the Games. Initially I passed on the book at the book sale because I'm not interested in the affairs of the former USSR, all of that was before I was old enough to understand, but on the fill-a-bag day, I figured it might be worth a shot since the Atlanta Olympics were the first major sporting event I paid much attention to. Clearly, the athletics aren't the focus of the book, but had he spent too much time on the athletics and been very wrong with his projected victors in the events, the book would lose its relevance. It turned out that while the overseas terrorism plots played a significant role in the book, the storyline remained centered in Atlanta and a few other key domestic locations, so my concerns about the book focusing on subjects I find uninteresting were unfounded. Overall, it was somewhat predictable in that I knew how it would end before reading a single page, and all the minor characters introduced somehow play a role in the ending. Not the greatest book ever written, but it kept me intrigued for a few days during my workout at the gym.

Pretty much a toss away, I only read it because it belonged to my recently passed uncle, and I was curious what he spent his time reading...I imagine there were plenty better books he enjoyed before this one, nuff said.
Terrorist thriller set during Atlanta Olympics in 1996 with a possible nuclear bomb kicking around ATL. Not my type, but taut, well plotted and exhaustively researched. Love story between brooding male and female leads could've been avoided.
