Dr. Norman Vincent Peale (1898–1993) was a minister and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking) and a progenitor of the theory of "positive thinking".

Peale was born in Bowersville, Ohio. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School, Bellefontaine, Ohio. He has earned degrees at Ohio Wesleyan University (where he became a brother of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta) and Boston University School of Theology.

Raised as a Methodist and ordained as a Methodist minister in 1922, Peale changed his religious affiliation to the Reformed Church in America in 1932 and began a 52-year tenure as pastor of Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan. Some of the phrases that I liked the most are:-

destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice.

Age is not determined by the calendar or the birth certificate, but by the inner spirit.

The key to success consists of the willingness to work and work hard. Abraham Lincoln was asked the secret of his success and he replied that it consists of three things 1) work, 2) work and 3) work.

Genius it 2% inspiration and 98% perspiration.

There is a divine spark in each of us, but many of us never fan it to a flame.
Why is one person able to see a deeper and finet shading, a profounder meaning in life than another? Why is it that some people do so much more with life than others? We are all in the same world. We see the same sky. We walk under the same stars; the same sunlight and rain fall upon our faces. Some people see in it deep and radiant beauty. Aware of its profound possibilities they make of life a result of superior quality. Others, seeing little in it and being blind to its larger possibilities, sadly enough are not so successful.

Satisfactory definition of success is - to develop the soul in greatness. To see deeply into life, to taste deeply of it, to gain power over it, to stand in the midst of it- strong, perfectly integrated, kindly, spiritually minded- that is success. To make your life count for others; to contribute to human well-being - that is success. To compose your soul in peace and power - that is success.

In a deep sense the secret of true success in living is the establishment of a real and vital personal contact with that ineffable being we call God.

Do your best, work hard, keep calm and trust God - that is the way to win in life.
