Witchy Fingers #1

Witchy Trouble

Rate this book
Witchy Trouble is the first book in the humorous Witchy Fingers series about three sisters whose heritage suddenly sends their lives spiraling out of control. If you like cozy witch mysteries, you’ll love Edelie, Estrella and Ernestine and all of their witchy shenanigans! Triplets Edelie, Estrella and Ernestine Flummox are three New York City working girls, living with their grandmother and aspiring to become, respectively, top chef, top singer and top lawyer. There’s something very peculiar about the Flummox sisters, however. They’re witches, and not just any witches but just about the worst witches in the world, their every spell an unmitigated disaster. Which is why Granny has forbidden them to ever use magic outside of the house. But then Granny suddenly disappears, and when she returns isn’t the same granny they know and love. Something very strange is going on, and it just might have something to do with the serial killer who’s terrorizing New York, or the fact that very soon now the three sisters are coming of witching age, or that on the same day they used magic at work and made a terrible mess, a sinister warlock shows up, warning them that their lives are in terrible danger.

Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).

When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.

He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.

I couldn’t wait to start reading this book. This is another great story by the writing team known as Nic Saint.
Needless to say I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I couldn’t put this down and stayed up all night to finish it. We are given three sister witches raised by their grams (this is starting to sound familiar right) they don’t know the extent of their power (okay so it is familiar indeed) but these are triplets with names that are a little out there. Edelie, Estrella and Emestine and get this there last name is Flummox. I couldn’t help but fall in love with these girls and their grandmother.
I laughed at the names of everyone, the play on words, the girls, grandma; it was just such a lighthearted fun story.
It is the perfect story to unwind and decompress with. I am sitting in my comfy chair with my favorite beverage impatiently awaiting the next story in this series.

Not a series I'll following.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

A bit thin on the plot

An okay read. Wacky and definitely thin on plot with three sisters who are as inept as any witch you are likely to meet. Plus they're not really big on the old grey matter either. Entertaining yes but only if you want a read that does strain you at all.
An attempt to rob their home has the robber paying back his last few victims. Not happy about this he is ripe for the pickings to aid a nefarious warlock in his attempt to bring down Gran and her three granddaughters. Plus the city is under threat of the Invisible Strangler. Throw in magic (that almost always goes wrong when cast by the sisters), Gran being totally unlike herself and a fight to save their lives. Will the girls succeed? Who is the Strangler and why is he now focused on them?

Intriguing story of witches and murder!

Triplet witches, who's magical spells do not ever work quite right, were raised by their grandmother. The three witches meet Tavish Mildew separately on their way to work. Tavish tells them that they must find Joshua before he finds them to kill them and take away their powers. Nic Saint writes with humor as he describes the triplets and their use of spells which always seem to go wrong. There is also a person, called "the invisible choker", murdering women by strangulation. You must read this story to see how it unfolds. Happy reading! 😊

Fun read!

Have never read anything by this author...however, I will be searching out his books in the future! Does a exactly what I hope for in a 'cozy'...takes me away from my everyday issues and allows me to escape into a world of FUN! I love not having to concentrate when I try to escape in a book and Nic Saint stories allow me to do just that! He does the heavy lifting and I get to enjoy!

Reads like fanfic about witches.

Mystery surrounding witches sounded intriguing, in reality the writing style wasn't for me. I'm not sure who the target audience is, but definitely not mystery/fantasy for adult readers.

Witches in 3D

Triplets Edelie, Estrella, and Ernestine are immature witches awaiting full power and practice. Their grandmother Cassandra a powerful witch has raised and protected them. Unfortunately for the triplets, they are weak in power and their spells tend to backfire. I like the story, humor and characters. I look forward to the next book.

The "E's" have it!

Hysterically funny and wickedly witchy, this tale had me hookex from the start. Being one of four sisters,I understand being in that type of family dynamic. Throw magic into it and calculated chaos will ensue especially if a creep warlock named Joshua has his way . Edelie ,Estrella and Ernestine with help manage to emerge victorious and I hope ,continue to have even more adventures

This was a fun book. Three witches coming of age and the dangers that surround it. Their parents are dead and they were raised by their Grandma. Grandma is a very strong witch. All the girls are struggling with keeping jobs and managing the little magic they know. A thief tries to sneak into the house one night and this causes all kinds of things to happen-- very exciting--I have to find the next book--is there another book in tnis series? I highly recommend this book.

I have really liked reading books by this author and they were great. I will be honest and say this book wasn't one of those. I thought that the basic story and characters were fun,but the names of some characters were so silly that it brought the book down ..,Spear Boodle,Ginger Peace,Tavish Mildew,...they just don't work for me. I also was disappointed with the weakness of how the witches took down the warlock. But as I said the book was still a fun read

Triple Trouble

This series has its moments. The triples are young and not well trained. Their grandmother doesn't handle their upbringing well. They don't appear to have realistic goals and they aren't capable of taking care of themselves in the real world or as witches.
On the plus side, this bumbling trio does have a comical way of handling life. They manage to stay alive and rescue Gran so I bought the next book.

Unusual Powers

Not a bad book but interesting. You have three triplets witches who I would say are uncoordinated with their powers. Enter in a guardian and the typical evil in this case a warlock and watch the spells fly with unusual results. A decent mystery, enjoy.

Worth a read.

What can I say? Great book. I loved it. I'm off to read the next in the series now. 3 young witches whose spells always go wrong and get them into heaps of trouble. First book I've read by this author but it won't be the last.

Okay

This book was easy to become confused in. I liked the idea of the characters being witch thieves but the ending was summed up quickly with no pizzazz

What fun! Bumbling witches hopeless in their real world jobs. Gran a witch too. Lots of humor! I totally enjoyed the book.
