Holly Jolly Christmas by Mona Risk & Deck the Hearts by Rachelle Ayala

Holly Jolly Christmas - Jeff & Heather are a young couple that have everything planned out. She'll go to college in Boston & he's been accepted to MIT. However, her dad is battling a terminal illness & Heather has just found out she's pregnant. She's determined to give the baby up for adoption & is shutting Jeff out. Jeff is determined that it just advances their plan earlier.

This is a heartwarming story about a family pulling together in hard times & helping a daughter reach the right decision. Heather really struggles with making sure she's doing the right thing for the baby & Jeff but she forgets to allow him to be part of the process. It all takes place leading up to Christmas. Does she decide to keep the baby? What happens with her dad? Can Jeff live with her decisions?

Deck the Hearts-

Gordon Gills has come to see the house he has inherited & wants to turn into a gym. Holly Jolly was in the middle of decorating the mansion for Christmas when she was knocked off the ladder & accidentally pulled the chandelier with her. Holly is for everything Christmasy & for the town of Christmas Creek. Gordon is a grinch & against the "snobby" town.

Ms. Ayala has taken a classic grinch story & given it a fresh twist. Holly needs to learn that everyone has some good in them & her way is not always right. Gordon needs to learn you can't hang onto your childhood perceptions because those are seen through childish eyes. I really enjoyed the humor & romance in this one, even the hint of "something else".

If these two stories are representative of the other stories, this collection is well worth the money. A great collection of heart warming Christmasy tales.

A sweet twist on the Grinch scenario. Gordon bottles up his anger and resentment along with loneliness and pain to the point where his bitterness overshadows everything that has importance in his life. Holly is the optimist that turns his life upside down and pulls him kicking and screaming into the magical season of hope, charity and faith. Maybe even love. I am not normally a fan of stories with Grinch or Scrooge like characters but there was something so compelling about Gordon that I couldn't look away. Deck the Hearts exposes what an open heart and open mind can do for the soul and the difference one action can make in the lives of others.

Deck The Hearts is a delightfully fun and festively heart-warming tale of the true heart of Christmas. This is a holiday tale that will reach into the depths of your soul and show you that all you ever need is the love in your own heart to make the holidays truly unforgettable. Flash and money are what society as a while believes you need to be happy, when all you really need is family and friends gathered together to celebrate the greatest love story ever told.

Holly’s favorite holiday is Christmas. She eats, breathes, and lives it all year long. What better way to prove her devotion by showing others in every day possible how much she cherishes a time of year when everyone smiles a little bigger, laughs a little louder, and opens their heart to friends and strangers alike. This is a woman who gives of herself and thinks nothing of taking. Gordon Gills is a man who has always felt the harsh sting of emptiness that is associated with Christmas. His carries around the heavy burden of a past filled with sadness and neglect. Above all he looks out for himself and never lets anyone get close. Nothing and no one has ever managed to melt his heart of ice, and he is determined to keep it that way. When a women whose heart beats for Christmas meets a man who would be thrilled to have it outlawed, will the town will be destroyed by the sparks and tremors than ensue, or will the pure and healing love of Christmas not only melt but transform this Grinch into a true believer?

Holly doesn’t understand how someone could dislike Christmas as much as Gordon does. It’s not until she sees his closely guarded walls begin to crack that she finally understands why he feels the way he does. She sets out to change his mind about the beautiful holiday, but somewhere along the way she changes him mind about much more than that. Watching Gordon’s defenses helplessly crumble beneath the warm, tender love that Holly shows her family, friends, and strangers was a beautiful sight to behold. It should never be said that a man who has a tender and loving heart is ever weak. In fact, that alone makes him stronger than the meanest of Grinches. Holly was the best medicine for Gordon’s heart, and in turn Gordon gifted Holly her personal Christmas wish. These two were so cute and so very good together. They fit each other’s lives to perfection, and helped to highlight the true meaning of our most beloved holiday.

Rachelle Ayala has given us the perfect gift with this treasured tale of love, family, and new beginnings. There is nothing quite like experiencing a deeply touching yet delightfully fun journey of finding something that is desperately longed for and generously given. What I wouldn’t give to ensure that everyone had the immense pleasure of reading one of Rachelle’s truly incredible stories. Her wonderful gifts are something that can only be understand and cherished by an open and willing heart. I challenge you to open yourself up to whatever the heart leads you to not only this Christmas season but throughout the year.

Good collection of short stories from wide variety of authors. There's regency, contemporary, and paranormal - so something for everyone. Editing varies from story to story - some better than others. Below are my general reactions to the specific stories I picked out and read.

We Need a Little Christmas by Leanne Banks - Can a handsome cynic become a Christmas believer?
10 chapters + Epilogue
Romance - PG
Language - PG, mild cursing
HEA - proposal
The cleanest story among those I read. Justin is a wealthy CEO who barely acknowledges Christmas, but he's philanthropic enough to ease his conscience. However, when he encounters Lilly and her love for her neighbors in spite of her difficult past, he's drawn toward her and sees a whole new world around him. I liked this story with its sweet romance.
5 stars

Frosty the Snowman by Mimi Barbour - Stranded in an Alaskan snowstorm, strangers Hali and Terry are forced to rely on each other for survival.
28 chapters
Romance - PG13 - non graphic scene
Language - PG13, moderate cussing and profanity
Lots of adventure - survival in the blizzard
Insta love but the adventure carries the storyline forward. I think the sexual encounter was crazy fast. Not my style.
4 stars

Last Christmas by Joan Reeves - Annabelle gave him her heart, but Rick threw it away. He wants redemption, she wants revenge.
14 chapters + Epilogue
Second chance story
Romance - PG13 / R
Language - PG13
Rick wants a second chance with Annabelle. He thought he'd lost her forever. But, he's sworn to secrecy and can't explain what happened. Can he win her back? Or will she forever resent him?

Mild violence when villain shows up. Not my style. Too much focus on the sexual tension than what I like to read. However, others may like it.
4 stars

Holly Jolly Christmas by Mona Risk - Pregnant at 18. Adoption would save the baby's future but may cost her the man she loves.
10 chapters
Romance - PG
Language - PG
I found it hard to think of this as a true romance. Heather is barely 18 and she's pregnant. She makes a lot of decisions based on her own personal reactions - and not factoring in others', especially her boyfriend, Jeff. I found it frustrating how she barely listened to anyone else. It finally took extreme measures to convince her to do the right thing.

The whole story felt bittersweet and the ending is kinda' sad.
3 stars

Do You Hear What I Hear? by Patricia Rosemoor - Live-in-lovers Shelley and Jake are now in a cold war of their own over Christmas.
4 chapters
Romance - PG13
Language - PG13

Not really a typical romance, but a Paranormal story of how a couple solves their different reactions to Christmas.
4 stars

So This is Christmas by Denise Devine - He was her child nemesis, now he's her best friend forever.
7 chapters
Romance - PG
Language - PG

This is a sweet second chance romance. Annabelle and Chris grew up together. She saw him as her nemesis and antagonizer, He saw her as beautiful and sweet. Yet, time has separated them. Can he bridge the distance and make her see him as more than an annoyance?
5 stars

Grown Up Christmas List by Donna Fasano - All she wants for Christmas is to feel safe... then she meets her guardian angel.
12 chapters
Romance - PG
Language - PG

Dina is on the run. Hiding. Then, she meets Police Officer Gav Thomas. Can she trust him not to betray her?

This is a sweet story of learning to trust and believe again written within the classic theme of someone needing help and another willing to be the rescuer and defender against the villain. Note - There's a mild element of the paranormal / new age.

Deck the Hearts by Rachelle Ayala
I was given the opportunity to have an ARC of this book by Rachelle Ayala. As usual it was a great book. Every book of hers that I have read has been really good.

Aunt Marney passes away and the only heir to the estate shows up at Christmas to decide what he is going to do with the property. Holly was really close to Ms. Marney and she has been hired to decorate the mansion for the holidays. Gordon is a "Grinch" he doesn't care for Christmas and he isn't interested in the house being all decorated.

The town is a little unique and it seems like it would be a great place to live.

Silver Bells by Jacquie Biggar
I always love Christmas books and this was no exception. It was well written and the characters were awesome. Once you picked up the book it keeps you involved until the end. I had a hard time putting my book down

Christy is now a single mother taking care of her daughter Jill who has a few medical issues to deal with. She is having a tough time and moves in next door to Claire. Claire is a nice woman who helps Christy out by watching Jill while Christy works. Christy has a store and also is an artist.

She meets this man who is a sort of recluse. He turns out to be her landlord. Will they be able to have a happy ever after. I think you would love this story as much as I did. I couldn't put it down.

Holly Jolly Christmas. By Mona Risk
Heather and Jason have been friends forever. They are both planning their futures together but he is going to Boston to MIT and she is going to another college. Her Dad is really sick with cancer and is fading before their eyes. Heather finds out that she is pregnant and does not want to tell her parents. She is afraid the shock and disappointment will kill him. She is afraid to tell her parents too.
She confides in her sister who happens to be a doctor. She is trying to decide what she is going to do. Will she keep the baby or put the child up for adoption. Jeff wants them to be a family and tries to convince her to do what is best for all of them.
This book reminds us that sometimes things don’t always work out like we plan. Read the book, you won’t be disappointed. I loved it. I had moments where I was laughing and then crying the next. I think you will enjoy the book as much as I did.

What a great collection for such a tiny price. So far I have read:

Deck the Hearts By Rachelle Ayala
In this story the town of Christmas Creek, formerly known as Gill's Gulch, is getting ready for the annual holiday celebration. Holly is decorating the mansion which was owned by the late Marney Gills for the annual Christmas bash. Gordon Gill from Las Angeles show up, having inherited the mansion at the passing of Marney. Gordon is not happy to find Holly there decorating and he plans to sell the mansion to developers. When Gorden goes to see the lawyer about the estate he finds out it was Marney's wish to continue the gala. To make things even harder for Gordon his father is trying to contest the will, saying he is the rightful next of kin. Can Holly and the rest of the town show Gordon what the Christmas spirit really means? What will come off the budding relationship between Holly and Gordon? This is a quick read with an interesting story at I love how it all ties up at the end.

Frosty The Snowman by Mimi Barbour

Hali Gibson was delivering a Samoyed puppy to it's owner in Alaska when she was bumped from her flight. At the last minute she found a pilot with a small plane, Terry, willing to fly her and the puppy. Unfortunately they are forced to make a crash landing and end up in a snowstorm in the middle of nowhere. Faced to work together and and stay in a confined area how will they react? Things get even worse when Hali realizes that Terry is sick with infection and then she herself is injured. Will their shared adventure draw them together or push them apart? Will they be able to make it back to civilization? Can Hali deliver the pup to it's rightful owner or does she even want to? An exciting, sweet read.

Silver Bells by Jacquie Biggar

Christy Taylor is a single mother raising a daughter, Jill, who is diabetic. When her landlord, Joel, comes to see her to find out why she is late with the rent she realizes she had a run in with him earlier. Joel is an author and he is instantly attracted to Christy's feisty personality. Can Christy find room in her and Jills' life for Joel. This is a quick enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed the stories I have read so far. I highly recommend this box set.

I had the privilege of reading Silver Bells by Jacquie Biggar in this great holiday collection!
Single mom Christy Taylor was only trying to do her job when famous author Joel Carpenter grabbed her drawing pad from her hands and threatened her to stay away from him on their first meeting.
Christy had no idea who he was or even cared she was just getting a few more drawings finished for her gift shop that she rented under her upstairs apartment. She was finding it difficult making a living while caring for her daughter who had recently been diagnosed with diabetes.
Joel Carpenter was frustrated by his writer's block, tenant who he had yet to meet and was late with rent and the young woman that he confronted drawing his picture at the beach.
When Joel and Christy meet again and have a better understanding of each other's situation they soon form a bond while spending time together caring for Christy's daughter. They had not gone in to the relationship looking for a family, but one soon developed.

I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mien alone.

So far, I've read Deck the Hearts by Rachelle Ayala.

A fantastic novella about love, acceptance, and the power of belonging. Christmas Creek is a magical town with quirky inhabitants and enough Christmas cheer to go around. Their big Christmas gala is the biggest event of the year, and it seems like so much fun! I wish I could visit!

Holly is sassy, a little odd, and definitely a fun character to read about. She's passionate about her town and determined to save it from their new Scrooge. Gordon is rough around the edges, grouchy, but oh-so-sexy! The more I learned about him, the more I cared about him. When Holly hatches the plan to change Gordon's mind about Christmas and Christmas Creek, she might end up causing a disaster instead.

This story is a fun way to spend an afternoon with some unexpected twists and plenty of Christmas love.

This is a short story about Christmas. Holly and Gordon will make you fall in-love in a different way. How is a rich guy will open his heart not only for a certain girl but for the entire town to keep the Christmas traditions remain.

Christmas is about miracles. It happened in unexpected ways. Christmas is not about gifts but it is about the love you share unconditionally especially to the less fortunate ones. Holly and Gordon story will show you how miracles happened and how Christmas can make a broken heart healed.

The story is funny, emotional and full of surprises. It is a very sweet short story but will blown you away. It is another amazing book of Ms. Rachelle Ayala.

I read Hark the Harold Angel Fall by Michele Hauf. This story takes place in Paris on Christmas Eve. Luke and Merit are celebrating their anniversary, when they run into trouble. Luke struggles with a love so strong for Merit that he must decide: tell her the truth and lose her for ever or keep his secret for a change of one more moment with her. The characters are so well written, you can't help but be sucked into the story! This story goes great with a cup of cocoa!

I LOVED the story between Annabelle and Rick in LAST CHRISTMAS by Joan Reeves. From the first paragraph I was pulled into Annabelle's world of passionate love, heartbreak, and revenge...even if things didn't work out as planned. I laughed aloud with the twists and turns of small town life and love. It was a great quick read that brightened my day and left me in love again.
I received this novella in exchange for an honest review.

This was overall a great box set yo read for Christmas. All the stories are short, quick reads. Some of them can be part of other series by the author and some can be considered standalones. There were a few that I didn't read for reasons of my own but I did read most of the set and really liked it.

I'm a HUGE fan of all things Christmas and this box set is a must-own! 20 Christmas/Holiday stories by award-winning and bestselling authors (some of them my favorites like Jacquie Biggar and Mimi Barbour). The best part: each story's title is based on a Christmas Carol.

Here is my review for Silver Bells by Jacquie Biggar:

The last thing Joel wants or needs is romance. He’s a bestselling mystery author and he’s under a tight deadline. Plus, the women he’s met lately only want him for his money, moniker, expensive gifts, etc. Everyone wants something, or so Joel thought… until he meets Christy.

Christy has got a full plate: single mom trying to make it a go of it with her art and her diabetic daughter in Vancouver Island. But money is tight and when the landlord comes around the gallery demanding rent, sparks fly between her and Joel. Can she let her guard down to let him in or is he just like her ex and will abandon her when he meets Jill (her daughter)?

I’m a big fan of Biggar and have gobbled up everything she’s written but this story moved me to tears. There’s so much emotion in this little romantic story while dealing with not only the holidays but serious topics like childhood diabetes. Biggar describes perfectly the fear every parent deals with raising a diabetic child (Christy) while at the same time, capturing what the child goes through every single day (Jill).

If you’re a fan of romance and looking for a quick holiday romance, 1-click this book right now. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll be inspired. A must read, in my opinion!

My Rating for the Box Set: 5+ stars

There is a great collection of stories out called, Love, Christmas-Holiday stories that will put a song in your heart. I read , We Need A Little Christmas by the talented Leanne Banks. It was sweet, well written and I loved the characters very much.

Lilly is a wonderful , caring person. She spends her time helping the homeless and checking on her neighbors that aren't able to always get out . I loved how the author shared about the homeless and made readers aware that this is an ongoing problem. It was very emotional to read how Lilly would take the coat off her back and give to someone living on the streets . Have you ever helped someone in need? Lilly wants to provide coats to the homeless this Christmas and hopes to get lots of donations.

Justin is the CEO of a prosperous retail company. He does do charity work, but tries to avoid cameras or publicity. It reminded me of the verse in the Bible about doing things to help others without trying to get recognition for it. I loved his giving heart and humble attitude. He is always being asked to give to so many charities and of course they want to meet him. What happens when Lilly asks Justin's company for donations?

I loved how the two meet and makes the story so interesting. There is a theme of trust, forgiveness and giving that makes the story an uplifting read.Be sure and pick up your copy of this beautiful story and find out what happens between Lilly and Justin.

I received a digital copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion and I was not compensated for it.

I have read Taylor Lee's Santa Baby at this time and absolutely loved it! It was a phenomenal read. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. It is a novella so not super long but the characters just pulled me in from the very beginning and never let go. This story is not explicit with the sex. Lily is a stripper because of the situation she is in and it is a way to try and make enough money to provide her daughter with food and a roof over her head. All she does is strip, nothing more. Lily is trying to keep her child safe and so has been on the run. Zach knows something is going on with her as soon as he sees her and he's drawn to her. He decides to start digging and it starts the ball rolling. This story had action and great characters. I loved it and was not ready for the story to be over.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of Santa Baby.

We Need A Little Christmas is a wonderful story about two people with opposite views on Christmas. Lilly Johansen is a caring lady who checks on her elderly neighbors to make sure that they are ok. She helps them if they should need something. Lilly also visits her neighbor Roberta who is a single Mom with two young children. Lilly easily makes friends with people and really cares about people. One cold day Lilly was out and saw a coatless person so Lilly gave them her own coat. As Lilly was leaving she was to meet Justin Dane Burgess. Justin is the CEO of a big company. Lilly has been to this company to ask for the CEO to please donate some coats for the homeless and those in need of a winter coat. She doesn't get past his secretary in the office. Justin is an anti Christmas type person. Boo Christmas like Scrooge.
After their meeting, the Christmas season of putting up Christmas trees with decorations, the Christmas tree lighting service and cheerful goodwill brings Justin around to be a caring person where he does some good deeds. A wonderful read and I recommend this book to all!

Love Christmas

Some of these stories were very engaging. I enjoyed the storylines and the characters but there are many typos and most of the stories just end. I would have to read other stories by these authors before I could recommend.

I loved the song theme's

Each book being based on or around a Christmas carol/song made each story unique. I loved each one and would recommend not only the box set, but looking up the author's for future reading pleasure.
