Darlene is one of my favorite apocalypse characters. This book has me worried for her!! Armand please don't kill her off!! Zombies, zombie killers, vampires...love this series. Can't wait to read Dying Days 8!
Well written and fast paced. This is an unusual take on zombie stories. The promised land and a new type of zombie. Well worth the read, looking forward to what happens next
There are tons of Zombie Apocalypse novels, and I still enjoy them. I understand authors throwing a spin on the genre, to make things more interesting, and I'm generally fine with that. Zombies are terrifying, they usually outnumber humans, you can't reason with them, and they just don't give up, which is why I believe they make for interesting antagonists. In this series the evolved zombies are intelligent as well, so even more scary, and it's more hopeless and frustrating right? So I can live with that. It's a neat little twist to the shambling, groaning, brain eating undead that so many people love, however, in this series they also have magic. For some reason, to me at least, this is just totally annoying. You would think that zombies hurling Fireballs and magic missiles, using mind control, paralysis, and "laser beams shooting from fingers" would make things more interesting, but for me its actually less fun. Only two more books in the series, not really having fun with it anymore though. Bummer.
What can be said about Dying Days 7 thst I haven't said six times before? Like any great series, DD7, follows the overarching story while having its own individual flavor from each of its prior installments.
This time, there is a heavy nod to sci-fi and fantasy. Including the classic RPG, Dungeons & Dragons.
If you've come this far, then like me you don't need a review. You're definitely in for the ride by this point so, I'll catch ya at the finish line.
All is not hunky dory at the Promised Land, some people just can't stand the thought of a zombie being in charge. Darlene now knows her reunion with her son is not going to be a happy one. Can Tosha, Darlene and others turn the tide and save some of the survivors or is all going to be lost. Diving into book 8. I'm just plowing through this series as Rosamilia's writing grabs you and never lets up.
There is a human character who has become tiresome, a rather huge reversal which was very disappointing, a plethora of inexplicable powers and a lack of characters to actually still care about now. Other than that, I'm still intrigued.
How can I review a book that stunned my very senses? I guess I can heap the praise on the author Armand Rosamilia. His storytelling is superb. The world he has created is so very apocalyptic and the characters are out if this world.
Not sure if I like 'The Promised Land' with Tosha in charge, although I know there's probably some people who like her. The book is well written, I did enjoy the action, and am looking forward to the next book and the coming showdown between Darlene and her son.
