Dr. Charles F. Stanley is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta, founder of In Touch Ministries, and a New York Times best-selling author who has written more than fifty books, and has sold more than nine million copies. He demonstrates a keen awareness of people's needs and provides Christ-centered, biblically-based principles for everyday life.
Charles Frazier Stanley was born September 25, 1932, in the small town of Dry Fork, Virginia. The only child of Charley and Rebecca Stanley, Charles came into the world during a time when the entire nation felt the grip of the Great Depression. To make matters worse, just nine months later, his father Charley died at the young age of 29.
However, Charles refused to let the Great Depression or the difficulties of his life define him. Instead, like his father and grandfather before him, he clung to God’s Word and took up the mantle to preach the gospel to whoever would listen.
Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”
Dr. Stanley’s teachings can be heard weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta, daily on “In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley” radio and television broadcasts on more than 2,800 stations around the world, on the Internet at intouch.org, through the In Touch Messenger, and in the monthly, award-winning In Touch magazine.
Has been a source of comfort and encouragement this past year. I am not always faithful but He who keeps me is always. Looking forward to reviewing these truths again next year.
This was amazing, and I will most definitely go back to it another year in the future. There were many days where God used Dr. Stanley to speak a word I desperately needed that day or morning. So thankful for this resource!
Dr. Charles Stanley's ministry has always been a source of inspiration. These daily devotionals, while short, are practical and powerful for everyday life.
My father in law has been reading a print version of this book for several years, and when I saw it on Kindle, I thought it would be a perfect way to start the day no matter where I was. I felt that this was a solid devotional that keeps things simple. There aren't really too many deep questions or behaviors posed in it, it's all relatively straightforward. It almost feels like a devotional for beginners at times, for someone who isn't deeply spiritual yet, and just wants to start the day with some positive, religious thoughts. There are bits of scripture reading that start off each day, and it reads very well, and was also edited very well, which I've seen be an issue in other devotionals before.
This uses the Non-Living translation, which is intentionally substandard. The author, who is capable of teaching and preaching, makes it very difficult to use this “devotional”. I personally can’t use it. The lack of the KJV makes me question the motivation behind this work- aside from just tossing it aside to to read my Bible. There is nothing in this book which catches my interest, and I think only on the difference between the meaning of the Non-living translation, and the King James, which is the Gold Standard English text of Scripture.
I have been enjoying this nourishment for my spirit beginning anew each year. I prefer to read the daily message just before bedtime, enabling me to fall asleep with the Word on my mind. Charles Stanley also has a great app download (In Touch) with daily TV and radio messages that are always encouraging and teach the truth in a way that is easy to understand.
An uplifting and encouraging way to start your day. It addresses the concerns and issues that affect every believer as he/she strives to live the christen life.
This devotional spoke straight to my heart during the worst time of my life-the death of my 19 year old son. I know God led me straight to this book it brought me such peace.
This is a book that really helped me grow in my knowledge of the Lord but also grow closer to Him. Dr. Stanley always knows exactly what to say to make us see Jesus more clearly.
Another great reading from a great author took me thru the whole year thinking positive even tho we are living hard times we can be confident the Lord has prepared a way for us and watches over us
My mother gave me this daily devotional last Christmas. It was the perfect gift! It seems like Stanley's daily messages were the exact words I needed to hear. Would recommend if you are looking for a daily devotional for the upcoming school year....
This is a great devotional. I love how easy it is to read and understand, and at the end how Mr. Stanley breaks it down to one sentence you can meditate on all day. Thank you Charles Stanley.
Extremely good devotional. I was stunned at how much it spoke to me. The first devo I've ever read with every page that had something that seemed to see through me. It hit so hard that it actually hurt, and actually backed up with actual scripture.
I loved every day of this book and will read it again beginning January 1st 2021! This is one of the best ways to begin my day. Thank You, Heavenly Father!
