Rebel Horse Rescue

Rate this book
Summer is winding down for Kate and her friends when a surprise visitor appears at her family’s stable—a beautiful bay horse wearing a halter and a bad attitude. Dubbing the horse “Rebel,” the friends set out to find the horse’s owner. Where did he come from, and why are horses all over the area disappearing from their pastures and paddocks? It’s a mystery that even the sheriff can’t figure out, so Kate decides to head up the investigation. When Kate’s autistic brother, Pete, develops a strong connection to the new arrival, Kate wonders—did God bring Rebel to them for a bigger purpose?

Miralee Ferrell and her husband, Allen, live on eleven acres in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in southern Washington State, where they love to garden, play with their dogs, take walks, and visit their grown children. She is also able to combine two other passions—horseback riding and spending time with her married daughter—since she lives nearby--and they often ride together on the wooded trails near their home.

Ironically, Miralee, now the author of over twenty books, with many more on the way, never had a burning desire to write—at least more than her own memoirs for her children. So she was shocked when God called her to start writing after she turned fifty. To Miralee, writing is a ministry that she hopes will impact hearts, and she anticipates how God will use each of her books to bless and change lives.

This book was awesome. It is an amazing story of Kate and her friends solving a mystery. All of the characters in this story seemed real. The ending was great , and I was really surprised by the ending.

The story was a great story of love and forgiveness. The characters are respectful of their parents also.

In recent years I have read several books written for young boys because my grandsons shared them with their Gramma and me. I have had a tendency to pass over books for young girls since we don’t have any granddaughters. However, I got the opportunity to read this book by Miralee Ferrell and decided to check it out since I have enjoyed several of her adult fiction books. I especially recommend this one for young pre-teen and teenage girls. I think boys who like to read would enjoy it as well. The main characters are three young teen girls and two boys. Much of the action revolves around their efforts to discover who has been letting horses loose from various farms around their community. Kate, the lead character, lives with her parents and her autistic six-year-old brother on a boarding farm for horses, so horses play a major role in her life and that of her friends. One of the horses that was let loose shows up unexpectedly at Kate’s home one day while her parents are gone for a few hours. After almost a week, someone claims the horse but whoever let the horses out the first time lets this one loose two more times. The kids are anxious to solve the mystery about the horse. To be honest, I was mystified about the horses myself until almost the last chapter. I appreciate the fact that the young teens in the story are being taught good Christian values regarding their activities and daily choices. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Rebel Horse Rescue #5 Horses and Friends**** by Miralee Ferrell

Kate and her friends Tori, Colt, Melissa and Jake are enjoying their summer when an unfamiliar horse shows up at Kate's home. He is wearing a halter but does not want anyone near him except for Kate's little brother, Pete who is autistic. Pete and Rebel, the name they gave the horse, have a strong connection which is endearing. Thus begins another mystery for Kate and her friends. Adding to that mystery is another mystery—who is letting horses out of their pastures and paddocks to roam the area and why? It is good that Kate and her friends seek their parents permission before wandering all over in their quest to find answers. While out investigating they see a stranger wondering around close to a friends home and question who he is and what does he want. Now they have three mysteries to solve. They find interesting clues that don't seem to really give them answers or leads. But later those clues are important as they figure out who is responsible for letting the horses out. I was not sure who it was but had my suspicions. I like how the importance of family is shown in the actions of the characters and appreciate the strong faith elements woven within the storyline. This is a great YA story for both girls and boys.

~I received a PDF copy of the book from the author, (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~

I loved Rebel Horse! A good christian story about trust and forgiveness and most all keeping the faith.
Pete is a pretty cool boy who has a way with animals. He is a pretty special boy.
I love this story because Kate and her friends and family have special devotions with the Lord each evening.
One of the discussions was about forgiveness and. ot going to bed on yiur angwr because it can fester like a sore and eventually lead to bitterness. i especially like this scene because i am having trouble forgiving my father for what he has done. I know what I should do but its so hard!
I love this book as its so full of mystery!
Mrs. Maynard is certainly blessed!
This is a perfect example of forgiveness and anger.
I was in 4h and id always ask people for rides on horses but I never got to have one of my own.
Last but not least i love the author's tidbit at the end as I can relate to some of it as well.
I strongly recommend this book for ppl who live a good book about horses or just fun reading in general.

Another wonderful story for "tweens" and horse lovers.

I consider this to be part of a “true” series since the characters’ lives are progressing in a normal manner. Yet the actual plot of the story does stand alone. Reading these books in order just helps to fill in the spaces as to who the different people are and how they met.

Kate and her friends continue to grow and mature in this new story. They have learned the importance of prayer and seem to be quicker at taking their problems and concerns to God.

One of the things that I have enjoyed throughout these books is the fact that these kids are willing to accept new people. They don’t hold the newcomer out at arm’s length. Whenever they are doing something they call and include him.

I loved the fact that there was a fairly deep discussion between Kate, her friends, and her mom about forgiveness. What it is and why it is important. This is a very important aspect of life that we all need to learn more and more about.

I received a free eBook copy of this novel from the author. I chose to write this review expressing my personal opinion.

An engaging fifth book in the series! Kate and her friends are at it again when a mysterious horse ends up on their property. Where did it come from? Who is causing the new problems in the area? Who is the stranger wandering around? I love how their friendships progress and how they interact with each other during it all. (Jake is just hilarious! And who wouldn’t love Pete?) I also like the interactions with parents and kids – very respectful and something I want my kids to read. The mysteries and dialogue are well-written and great for the middle grade age. The horse knowledge is well-done also – approved by my horse loving daughter! I pre-read this for my daughter and couldn’t find a better series for her to read! The story-line has twists and turns that keep you guessing as to how it will end. A perfect Nancy Drew type feel to this! Wonderful lessons to learn in how to trust God in all situations and lean on Him. I highly recommend this.

This is a review written by my daughter who enjoys this series.

A surprise visitor shows up at the barn on four legs, a bay horse with attitude. Where did this horse come? What is the meaning behind his name? Why are horses starting to escaping now? When Kate's autistic has a bond with horse, things may change by the end of summer.

This book was amazing with the ploy and teamwork each friend had for one another. The author made Pete more social. I love how Kate and Colt become buddies. Kate, Tori and Melissa also grow in faith as they try to find the horse's owner. Nan Ferris is also in the book a lot more in the book. Overall, I love this book and recommend it to girls or anyone who loves horses, friendship and God. I received a book from the author.

Miralee Ferrell takes us back to the Columbia Gorge for another adventure with Kate and her friends. The book opens with Kate and her friends promising to stay out of trouble while her parents take her six-year-old autistic brother Pete to summer camp. But what happens when trouble finds you? A very stubborn horse suddenly shows up at her house and then they find out that other horses have been let out also. So of course Kate and her friends decide this is a mystery that needs to be solved. As they find clues they come upon two more mysteries to solve as well. Two characters really stood out to me: Jake who is optimistic and energetic, and Pete with his sweet innocent nature.

The Horses and Friends series is a great series for teaching kids valuable lessons and good character.

A great story showing how friends can work together to solve a mystery. Kate and her friends find a beautiful horse and they have no idea where he came from. Deciding to name the horse Rebel, the friends set out on an adventure to find the owner of the horse and to discover the identity of the mysterious man. This story shows how people can be judged for the wrong reasons and how, by trusting each other and trusting God, mysteries can be solved and new friends can be found. The book is great to give as a gift, too. I received a copy of this story from the author and this is my personal, honest opinion.
