Guy Fieri is an American restaurateur, author, television personality, and game show host. He co-owns five restaurants in California and is widely known for his television series on the Food Network.
By mid-2010, the Food Network had made Fieri the "face of the network." In 2010, the New York Times reported that Fieri brought an "element of rowdy, mass-market culture to American food television," and that his "prime-time shows attract more straight male viewers than any others on the network."
4.5 stars - Had to dock a 1/2 since there weren't quite enough photographs.
From a chapter on incorporating healthy vegetables beyond just potatoes and carrots and utilizing flavorful grains to the All Hands On Deck chapter that gets the whole crew involved in the meal prep, the book is an excellent resource for new and scrumptious recipes. I would warn some have a lengthy ingredient list but if you plan ahead, you can use those same ingredients in multiple meals.
Some knockout recipes were:

Do I count cookbooks as part of my reading challenge... I absolutely do! When I get a new one, I sit down and read it front to back, with a roll of Washi tape to mark the pages of the recipes I want to try. I quickly found that I didn't even need to use Washi tape on this one, because all but maybe three or four recipes looked like something my family would enjoy. There a great mix of healthy and not quite so healthy dishes, all packed with lots of flavorful things, and with ingredients that are really easy to find, if you don't already have them on hand. And I'm not usually one for buying cookbooks from celebrity chefs (though I AM a sucker for pop culture themed cookbooks), but this happened to be in the bargain area of the bookstore for about $9 and I thought "eh, why not". I'm glad I took a chance.
This is a fun cookbook written in Guy's casual style. It showed up as a freebie eBook with Amazon Prime, so I took a look. Unfortunately, the recipes, while easy to follow, just didn't hit me. This is not a criticism of the book. You either like the kinds of recipes a book has or you don't. I have the same issue with the really popular Food Lab book. I love the science and the notes, the recipes just aren't how I like my food to turn out. Maybe reviewing cookbooks is a bad idea. Anyway, try this book out for yourself, and I will definitely look into other Guy Fieri cookbooks.
No joke... This book saved my marriage. My hubby will not eat food unless it's eggs. But now he'll eat food with eggs, but still mostly eggs. I am trying to move him to an eggless diet... all those eggs cant be good for your cholesterol. Only issue is that I've spilled so much food on my kindle while cooking that I'm on my third one!! Hubby said we can't afford anymore kindles, but I'll just threaten to not make him eggs anymore :). Besides that man goes through a carton a day so I won't be lectured to about money savings when he's spending like eggs come out of a chickens ass.
I love that Guy’s voice is showcased throughout. There are fun little notes and the photos of the family really make it a personal cookbook. I can’t want to make a bunch of the recipes. The leftover section was especially cool when thinking about family meal planning.
This cookbook was AMAZING! I love Guy and his approach to cooking but this cookbook was a great book! I can’t wait to start cooking with these recipes!
I’m a cookbookaholic!!! And a professional baker!!! This book has more than pretty pics; it has the right recipes to make fantastic food like Bacon Mac ‘n Cheese Burger, Real Deal Clam Chowder, and the 1st EVER Poutine Fries done justice- with ground chuck meat et. al. to make the “gravy”!! Guy has two loves: family and food. Here, he puts them together, giving you his best recipes that he feeds his family at home. The recipes are clear, easy to follow, with ingredients most of us can get. More, I can see the experience & expertise in the recipes!!! Stop eating “sawdust pepper”; use real pepper fresh ground!😱🤯😳He even threw in a few great desserts!!! I borrowed this book from the library. Now, I’m stuck!!! I can either borrow this forever, or go & buy this book! I thought my cookbook library 📚 was full; sorry, Guy, I was clearly wrong! Asking this for a present now...
I love it that Guy's dad wrote the Forward for this book. In Guy's family cooking really is a family affair with his wife and 2 sons. I appreciated the pages titled Equipment Guy'd. It motivated me to look in my own kitchen at what I do and don't have. I ended up making a shopping list. I like the way the book is designed. I was reading Guy's stories interspersed throughout the book and they were cracking me up. His personality shines through in his writing. So does his passion for cooking. There is a recipe here for Jalapeno Lobster Mac n Cheese. I want that in my life. This is a cookbook done right. It's filled with plenty of bright colorful pictures presenting the food. The recipes are mostly pretty involved. These are for when you want to throw down in the kitchen. I recommend.
I love Guy Fieri. I’ve been watching him from when he first started out on tv. He’s funny, likable, and is very entertaining. I also love his books.
But…this book didn’t interest me much at all. I didn’t find many recipes that I wanted to try, and that shocked me. Was it just the mood I was in? Maybe, but I love food so I don’t know. Was it the long lists of ingredients and too many steps? I like the opposite.
I did love the cooking info, family photos, and the stories about his family. I may pick this book up again sometime in the future to try it again because I have loved every book by Guy before this one.
the food itself I would give Full Stars for. The book itself and the practicality? The set up of the book is pretty good, but the recipes themselves have up to 2-3 pages of ingredients and the instructions for the recipes are just as long. This would have to be for someone who is a really great cook, not someone who cooks on a novice level. On the up side everything seems to be made from scratch. So maybe that is why it takes so long?
I only gave this three stars because most of the recipes are too involved and have too many odd ingredients to make them family friendly. I made the sausage, pea, and pappardelle pasta recipe and it was very good, and my kids liked it; but I did make quite a few substitutions and omissions to it. Other than that recipe though I didn't really see anything that my entire family would enjoy.
Spaghetti squash with roasted Kale chips. That's the one we'll try. The other options are equally good but are a little too much for our way of eating. This was a fun cookbook to read thru.
Not really my style of food. Also almost all the recipes had so many ingredients. Even something as seemingly simple as a dipping sauce required a dozen different ingredients.
