They’re treated as slaves by the general prison population.

3-Stars. "I Liked it"
This was a good read, with some mostly implausible, but fun, action. However, the audiobook was not without its faults...
The following is an extract from my response to Kevin Ansbro's comment below:
"I was enjoying its "Jack Reacher-ness", but in the latter third Rogers seemed unable to stop writing waffling and tie the knot for a satisfactory conclusion. I think his action-flow is great and his plot/storyline was pretty good... all until he wouldn't shut up!
I have some others of Matt Rogers to hear, but he has dampened my enthusiasm somewhat🥴."

This was a good story, about our hero, Jason King, who was dumped into a prison for life in Venezuela for pissing a really bad guy off. But, really, it was a terrible name for a book since Jason only spent 2 days there before he escaped with his friend Raul. And then they decided to go after the guy who put them in there, Rico and his band of drug dealers.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 64 times.

As for the narration: Roger Wayne did an excellent job.

Piece of Cake

If there was someone who could escape the worst imaginable South American prison and take down a ruthless and insane drug lord, it's Jason King. And what makes him do this starts with a thug wanting to pick a fight with him and that sets off an unfortunate string of events that has our hero somewhere he'd rather not be.

The bad guys find out the very hard way what happens when you mess with Jason King. As much as he wants to leave what he was behind, it becomes clearer to him that maybe it's impossible to go back to being a normal guy after how he made a living for a decade or so and that what he was then is what's now normal and he's uneasy and uncomfortable when there's no killing to be done.

I like this guy.

WOW! I really like this author - a "new find" for me. Jason King is an action hero that can compete with the creations of Brad Thor, Tim Tigner, Brian Haig, Lee Childs, and Vince Flynn. The book moves very fast. Lots of plots twists and turns. The action/fight scenes are some of best ever. Jason King does "get beat up", but ends up a winner every time. And the bad guys are REALLY, REALLY evil. And in the end, the good guys win and the bad guys lose. The protagonist is a very complex, deeply flawed, post-traumatic-stress combat veteran, who is loyal and goal-driven. Several times he could have left, but he stayed to "Help" the underdog, and to get rid of the bad guy.

Only Jason (and Reacher I suppose) could find himself in so much trouble just by barging into the wrong person at the wrong time. Jason is Jack Reacher on speed. Beat the person up first and ask the questions later. There is more violence than Reacher books, but not unnecessary or trying to shock. This book highlights the "easy to disappear" world in Venezuela and how we should appreciate the freedoms the western world enjoys. Jason always seems to come out on top, but not without getting injured every time. Let's see where book 3 of his retirement takes him.

Started off great

It was good until about 75 percent then the wheels feel off, this elite soldier just goes in. I have read enough of this type of work that even a non military guy would know you just don't go in, you plan even something quick. Then the line warning I may change and go to a different place carp, and then what happens he turns into the biggest rookie ever.
Man you had it then blew it.

This one has a fairly simpler plot than the first book. King got himself into trouble again, messed up with drug mafia of Venezuela and ended up in a hellish prison. The rest of the story follows how he gets out and finish off his enemies. Very seen-it-before story. Action and blood and violence were in abundance but with a weak storyline, I wasn't satisfied when i finished the book. I like Black Force shorts more.

Good tense, exciting story, but loaded with unnecessary fbombs.
Jason King makes Jack Reacher look like a pussy cat. He seems to always be able to instantly get himself out of virtually impossible situations ben though he might be injured himself. This time, he gets himself locked up in a Venezuelan prison; but why?

Another page turner

I’m as Jason King when it comes to wanting to solve the next puzzle. He does it with guts and brawn, guns or whatever he can get his hands on to accomplish his goals. I do it by flipping pages, reading and absorbing as quickly as I can.

These reads are well worth it. Keep reading

Imprisoned

Good thriller just too much philosophy that really is not true to life and is used to fill space more than add to the story. Obviously a super-hero tale but worth the time as a read I could go in and out of the tale at will.

I am breathing hard from all the action

Grab your seat belt, pull it tight and be ready for a wild adventurous ride. Just the action alone will tire you out. The final outcome makes the ride worth while.

Full of action. A great and fast read. There were a few twists and turns that I wasn't expecting, and that just made it all the more fun to read.

This book is even better than the first one. I am actually listening to the series on audio and I went straight into Book 3. Jason is a pretty scary guy. I wouldn't want to get on his bad side!

This is a continuation of the non-stop violence and action in this series and the description of conditions in Venezuela convince me that I have no need to visit there.

"DON'T MESS WITH JASON KING"

Jason King, trained for any type of conflict, warfare that's thrown at him. His kind of training protects the free world from despots, terrorism and any other evil that crawls out of the abyss.
An insight of how corrupt governments are; how the poor of these countries are treated. Descent jobs aren't available for these people, it seems their main purpose is to stay alive, put food on the table and a roof over their heads. Fast moving reading, multi plots, leading characters descriptions aren't quick and to the point. Action
actions and it's clean speaking language. It's an out like Flint, and you want to read more about where will Jason King temporarily settle down.

Jason King is a force to be reckoned with! Minding his own business in a ritzy, tourist section of Venezuela, Jason takes the initiative to take on three thugs who collide with him during a peaceful walk. He ends up putting them out of commission and then returns to his hotel. Not long after, the police raid his hotel and arrest Jason and charge him with murder - condemning him to the most notorious prison within the country - no trial, no judge, no appeal. Once inside, newcomers are picked on and usually succumb to beatings and other abuses within a few days and dying.. However, none have ever met the likes of Jason King who takes on all comers!

The government is corrupt and the person with all the money controls everything. Inmates purchase weapons and special favors from the guards and having money secures a top level within the prisoners. However, money also allows drug cartel bosses to infiltrate the prison as a guard to make Jason's life unbearable. Still unclear of what he's done to warrant the prison sentence, he must remain alert and win every battle.

Jason's life expectancy is measured in hours. Will he survive? Will he get his revenge? Who is pulling all the strings? Read the book to find out all the answers. A real page turner and highly recommended! Great job Mr. Rogers! Keep them coming!

Jason King is in Venezuela when first he is acosted by three street thugs and then falsely arrested and held. He is in a prison who's name is "hell." Having to fight for his life at every turn will he find out just who is the mastermind behind his arrest and imprisonment? Everyone needs to step aside, Jason King is back and don't you be the one standing in his way! What a roller coaster ride. You have streets thugs, crooked cops and criminals off all types in this book. The non stop action, danger and attempts on our hero's life got my heart racing. The storyline will have you from the first chapter to the last page. I was not hardly able to put it down. I read other author's book such as Mathew Reilly, Tom Clancy and Robert Goleman. This series seriously stand up to them all. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an awesome book to read. If you have not done so yet I would pick up the other two books as well. They are the introduction to Jason King. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Imprisoned: a Jason King Thriller (Jason King #2)

Jason is seeking a place that is far away from his past and his old way of life. He's been healing and recovering from his wounds and his location is in Venezuela near the coast in a small city. He's staying in the high end tourist hotel and begins his day wandering around and into the marketplace when everything goes to hell. Three thugs attack, they go down and Jason is arrested, taken to jail, and then to prison, it's Spanish name translates to "HELL." No trial, no phone call, no judge and jury; but he's charged with murder. The prison is maximum security, corruption, drugs and weapons everywhere. It's every man for himself. Wait till you see what happens when Jason says "enough" and begins to create chaos and help to escape from hell. You'll find yourself wondering what is going to happen next. You won't be disappointed.

"High Action Thriller Is Great!"

Jason King is a Black Ops super hero. He always works alone with great success even when greatly threatened or injured. Who would want him incarcerated in a Venezuelan prison, charged with murder without a trial? This prison is known as the country's most notorious gulag. How much will Jason have to take before he finds his way out and learns who set him up? Matt Rogers is a great author ... he knows no bounds and takes the reader to the edge of the cliff. Well written; short sentences and short chapters = a fast read. Highly recommend.
