The Craniopolis is out of commission. The Sweepers’ abductions have been halted. Will Derry’s leadership be questioned? What about her relationship with Sven?
This is the final battle in a game of all or nothing. If Derry cannot unite the different factions and take down the newly discovered outposts, its game over and the Undergrounders will lose. Time is running short before the outposts learn of the Craniopolis’ demise.

This was a mess. The pacing was so rushed and I eventually stopped caring about half way through. Again no surprises and everything pretty much goes down the way characters say it will.
Wow !!! How am I going to do this review without any spoilers !! I'm exhausted. If this was a film it would be up for an award, And I'm sure it's a book you could read again and again and still find bits you missed as it was so full on. How the main characters had the energy and commitment to keep going was a miracle in itself. The story was start to finish exhilarating, I couldn't put it down. It has an edge-to-edge quality that pulls the reader in. The dialogue is told from the main characters experiences and feelings, also I was able to see and feel the various places where the plot developed. It is very well defined story from beginning, middle and end. This is a fast paced gritty story, mitigated with the innocence of a budding relationship. This has been my first adventure into the dystopian, post-apocalyptic genre, and I will admit, I didn't think I would be able to engage in it, as I am a major fantasy genre fan. But I am grateful for Norma Hinkens for her phenomenon talent as an author. I highly recommend this series for engaging me from the first paragraph in book one to the last word in the epilogue of Judgement
Norma Hinkens ramps up the action in this final book of the Undergrounders series, Judgement. A war to end all wars as Derry and the rest of the cast go against the sovereign leader. This time there will be more uncertainty, bravery and bloodshed as the survivors fight to end his diabolical reign and forge forward into a new world.
Unlike many final books in a series, this one truly delivers in a very believable way. From the characters, to the fast paced action, to the many twists and turns, this story makes for a wonderful roller coaster ride. The final chapters wind everything up nicely with the remainder of the survivors to leave you satisfied. This is definitely a series I could see on the big screen, and much more satisfying than other's we've seen hit the big screen.
Hmm wow.. it took me a while to get through this series. I liked the world that the author was able to build in this story but there wasn't as much character build up as I hoped for. It was entertaining but again I think I skimmed through some pages cause I felt that the twists were neverending and some are unwarranted. I'm all for twists and surprises it has to make sense. There were too many issues/problems that keep popping up and in just a few pages all is solved. The ending was a but rushed. I feel like I could've just read the epilogue instead to find out what happened. Overall, it was an okay series just not something that I would go over reading again.
Not on ku, goes with a trilogy of books, listed below. Decent enough post apocalyptic but felt some things missing explanation or lead up and just in general a bit off.
The Undergrounders Series Books 1-3: Boxed Set Immurement, Embattlement, Judgement Book One: Immurement Book Two: Embattlement Book Three: Judgement
Got on mailing list probably when got That Moment When: An Anthology of Young Adult Fiction which she is in. Somehow manage to get all 3 books so basically the trilogy just not in one set.
The trilogy has a good solid storyline with good world building and all the characters are likeable in there own way. The only thing this fell down on was it lacked emotion and chemistry between the characters. It also wasnt really an ending. Perhaps there will be a spin off of the uprising of the other outpost in the future. Its a good read there is no sexual or bad language so is good for younger readers.
Fast-paced. The book seemed rushed in the way it was written. Good story of the main character learning to lead an army into war with all the responsibilities and consequences each choice has. She had to grow up fast in the dystopian world that took over in her young life.
In Judgement Derry and her friends are back and have finally saved everyone from the Sweepers. They have put Craniopolis out of operation and have stopped the Sweepers from extracting people. They are now all living happily and safe in Shoshane City with the riders, the Undergrounders, the clones and everyone else. Well they believe they are safe until they intercept a message that was meant for Craniopolis. They find out that Craniopolis is not the only place that is creating clones. They learn that they may be other places out there like Craniopolis that is experimenting on people. Derry is now very determined to stop the other outposts before they learn that Craniopolis has been put out of commission and they send more Sweepers their way.
While Derry is getting everyone ready for battle she has a lot more problems on the home front that has her upset but there isn’t much she can do about it but just let it be for the moment. Not only does she have to worry about the Sweepers but she also has to deal with the rogues as well. She thought that maybe she and the rogues were even but she soon learns that with rogues that is not the case. Most of them are only out for number one and will kill if that is what it takes to be number one but they are also some good folks that are rogues and they are also some that just like to play fair. The latter may be just what has saved Derry’s butt on occasion.
Is Derry ready for another fight? Are her and her friends capable of fighting so close on the tail end of their last fight with the Sweepers? Well if they want to live then they had better be. Because once they arrive the sweeping will start all up again if they can’t stop them for good this time or so they hope.
The Sweepers won’t know what has hit them when they meet up with Derry for the first time. Derry is a very strong and willed person for someone so young. She is also a very smart person. But she was taught by the best, Big Ed, an Undergrounder like herself. Yeah ole’ Big Ed finds a campion and maybe a little love like Derry and Sven, Owen and Nikki and like some others too. Yeah even clones can fall in love.
I have really and truly loved following Derry, Jerome, Rummy, Sven, Owen, The Ghost and others on their journeys to stop the Sweepers. I have enjoyed learning of their lives as Undergrounders and the traveled along with them on their stay in the city of Shoshane. I love the world that the Norma Hinkens has created for The Undergrounders. It is unlike anything I have read before. I would definitely recommend The Undergrounders Series to anyone who loves a good story. It will leave you wanting more. I would suggest that you start with the first book in the series Immurement and then go on to the next one Embattlement and then Judgement. Yeah you would need to read them in order so that you will know what is going and you want be confused about anything. The Undergrounders is one of those series you would like to see on the big screen.
True to the end, this book is just as exciting and action packed as ever. I get so caught up reading I forget what time it is and never want to put it down. It really would make a great movie series like The Hunger Games because it has all of the excitement, thrill and the characters are great.. I did want a clothes pin for my nose the writing was so vivid that I could even smell the dirt and sweat of people who went without showers or clean clothes and I could feel the hunger of not eating and the exhaustion of not sleeping. Extremely well written. Kuddos to Norma Hinkens!
This is the third book and is as exciting as the first two. Derry is maturing and growing in her question for freedom. Sometimes when you have a series of books, you are left with questions. This final chapter wraps everything up in an exciting ending to the series. You really know these people as friends and partners in their quest through these books. They've become real throughout this series. This whole series was wonderfully done with exceptional story telling and writing.
This is one off those series where you can't wait to read the last book, but at the same time you don't want the series to finish.
Through al 3 books I couldn’t stop reading, book 3 was action packed. I loved the main character Derry she’s is young, but strong. This is not your typical teen, she’s like Katniss ( not the movie Katniss), if she gets down she will come up. Derry will not give up, even if everything stands against her.
I was happy with the ending. I’m hoping that there will be a spin-off series one day.
I really enjoyed this final installment of the Undergrounders series. The book had a satisfying conclusion, yet left me wishing the author would write a prequel.Derry is such a brave and intelligent young woman who continues to fight to protect her loved ones.I found this series to be unique and interesting, with characters I really cared for.I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The final installment of this series is as wonderful as the rest. A world torn by a natural disaster and a greedy world leader give way to the natural fight or flight instinct as well as a little bit of forbidden love. This series was fabulous and I finished the whole series in a week. Definitely a must read!
