This is a hard novella to rate - As my first read by Bloom, I enjoyed her style and it was well written, however as a novella in its own right, it left me with more questions than answers, which I’m sure was the authors intention, it just didn’t feel … satisfying to me. Prequels are there to whet the appetite, to sow the seeds of the series to come, and it did do that, but many that I’ve read are also reasonably complete stories that leave you with that feeling of satisfaction whilst still having the eagerness to learn more about the characters and what happens to them next. Lost left me with so many unanswered questions it was hard to relate to the characters or form any emotional attachment when so much was hidden from us. I have a pretty good idea of what happened to both Rebecca and Josh from the breadcrumbs provided and at some stage I will continue with their journey, but there was too much unanswered for me to “need” to buy the next book and devour it now. 3.75* from me, with the expectation of a great rating once I delve into a full length novel by Bloom and have a chance to form a attachment to the characters.

I’ve read a few Anna Bloom books and am quite the fan. In fact, I plan to make it so I have one day read all of her work – such is my enjoyment of the stories she gives. Due to this, the Love and Loss books have been sitting on my Kindle for a while. Finally, I’ve decided it is time to dive into them.

Lost is a quick little prequel to Gone, giving us an introduction to the characters and a quick look at their world. I find prequel novellas can be rather hit or miss in a lot of cases, and I was a bit uncertain about what category this one would fall into.

Although Lost has left me desperate to see what happens in Gone, I was not as crazy about it as I had hoped to be. I was curious throughout, but it didn’t quite pack the same punch as other Anna Bloom reads. Nevertheless, I am of the believe this is going to play a vital role in Gone, with Lost being preparation for all that is to come.

Without a doubt, I’m now even more eager to see what Gone brings.

I'm so pleased I realised that this is a prequel novella to Gone and have read it first. An amazing read that has me already reaching for the next book. This author's words are always fantastic!

This one was really beautiful. My rating in 4.5 to be exact, but yeah I liked the story, or stories and the writing. Even though it's very short I and I definitely want to read more, I think it ended just where it should. I've seen reviews where people said they had many questions left unanswered but I personally think it's got just as much questions as I need to make me want to read the next book (yeah, I haven't read Gone before reading this one)
P. S. Joshua seemed weirdly obsessed over his girlfriend at the beginning but then it got better.

Choices can have drastic consequences

Rebecca is judged and labeled all because she defended her sister. So she is rebelling with her best friend Ellie. Josh is in love with his girlfriend Aimee and wants to take the next step......one night changes everything forever for both of them.

This prequel leave you with a clearer picture of the kind of relationships both Becca and Josh had before their lives have taken a turn for the worse. Irresponsibility and a sense of invincibility together with painful situations and discussions are the main reasons why these flawed characters and their loves ones suffer. Really nice window to a past that defines this couple's future.

Read Back to Back- This First!
This is the first time I've read anything by this author. If you are going to read this series, you definitely have to read this novella first! This is a prequel into book 2. It's a quick read, but it's worth it. The author writes from two different POV's and two different story-lines. When I first finished, I was a little confused, but I understand now, why, and it was still easy to follow! Trust me, it will make sense, if you will read the next book right after! That's what I did and these are must reads, but together!

Anna Bloom has left me with many questions after reading this book. I'm not sure of how the two storylines connect or what happened between the last two chapters. Lost has left me confused but having said that the storyline and writing kept me intrigued. Will definitely be reading Gone in the hope that my many questions will be answered

Novella

This is a novella so expectedly short. You don't learn much of anything in it... or I don't think you really do. You are pretty much reading 2 completely different stories at once. On to the second book.

Fabulous short story that can be read either before or after Gone.

Bex and Ellie, Joshua and Aimee. One cold day in February. Lost gives insight to these four characters, to their lives and to the day that was instrumental in shaping them into the characters in Gone.

I loved this! I loved the characters - happy Joshua and Aimee, self destructive Bex and Ellie. Having read Gone (one of my top favourite books), Lost adds another layer to the characters. If you haven't read Gone, you will want to read it after reading Lost in order to discover the rest of the story. Beautifully written, very real feeling characters and situations.
