One of the worst books I ever read. The hero was a total jerk toward the heroine and never improved. This book was all about sex. She drugged him to have sex, then drugged him to forget they had sex. That's male rape! There was no love here. It was very boring and I struggled to finish it. How could he have dreams/visions of loving this person, when he was so cruel to her? I bought this book based on all the glowing 5 star reviews on Amazon (that I now know are mostly FAKE). I wish someone had told me BEFORE I wasted my money on one of her books, so I'm telling you.

This author does not know the correct use of reign or rein, either.

When you find a book that makes you weep, you know you have found a winning author. Deborah Macgillivray will make you feel many highs, but also many lows. Ms. Macgillivray will wring emotion not just out of her characters, but out of you too. So, hold on for an emotional ride as you take a trip back in history to Scotland 1296.

In the book In Her Bed I felt how Lady Aithinne Ogilvie felt. She was lost, she loved and she felt despair. She had so much placed on her shoulders from a young age. She had to raise three boys when her parents died and now she has to protect a whole clan from being taken over by the English. Scotland is going through many changes. The English have toppled Scotland and the Scots have to bow down to an invading army. Will Aithinne be able to protect her clan or will a warrior take her place?

Damien St. Giles, a warrior and lord of the English king has had dreams for many years. He sees a woman’s face and knows that she is the woman for him. When he gets to Scotland he sees Tamlyn, he knows she is the woman from his dreams. There is one problem, she is betrothed to his cousin Julian Challon and they are much in love. Damien drowns himself in mead one night and wakes chained and drugged to a bed. Who is this woman who visits him? They have much passion between them and he thinks it’s Tamlyn, but it can’t be?

Lady Aithinne is the cousin of Tamlyn. They look very much alike with a few differences. Aithinne has a red tint to her hair, freckles and speaks of green in her eyes. To save her clan she must produce an heir and pretend that the babe is the heir to her recently deceast husband. Aithinne comes to love Damien, but when he calls her Tamlyn will she be able to ever forgive him?

In Her Bed has risen to the top of my favorite historical novels and I’ve already went and ordered a copy of A Restless Knight. I really felt for the characters in this book and can’t wait to meet more of Ms. Macgillivray’s characters. The only thing I wish the book had was a longer ending, as I wanted to continue being a part of the world that Deborah created. I guess I’ll just have to wait for the next book :0).

When I read A Restless Knight, I fell in love with Damian St. Giles, Lord Ravenhawke, so I really wondered what happened that week he vanished just before Tamlyn and Challon married. Now I know! And what an adventure he had. Only poor lad, does not recall most of it due to being drugged!

Aithinne Ogilvie is the lady of Coinnlier Wood, but since the death of her guardian, the Baron of Lyonglen, she's been in charge of his holding as well. With war with the English looming, this Scottish miss is smart enough to know she has to move to secure her hold on the two fortresses before King Edward gives her and them to either the Comyns or Campbells. She and the people of Lyonglen hide the fact the old lord died of old age. She concocts a pretence of being married to the old baron, and if she carries his heir, she hope it will be enough to keep Edward from playing matchmaker. Only, she needs that child.

She sends her three brothers (triplets) and her person Viking body guard out to collect her a stud to do the deed. She never planned on falling in love with the stranger in her bed. I really loved Aithinne. She is a gentle soul, yet one determined to protect the people of her valley.

Damian as a hero as commanding as his powerful cousin, Challon, and through is very similar in looks a much different person inside. He is sexy, funny and yet complex man. You get to see Tamlyn and Julian again, so that is fun.

I cannot wait for the next Dragon of Challon to come.

Damian St. Giles is knight is service to King Edward I. Known as a Dragon of Challon, he finds himself at Glen Shane, Scotland before going to claim his ancestral lands. Damian also possesses the "kenning" in which he sees his lover, helpmate, and wife. On May Day he doesn't expect to find her and he doesn't expect to be in her bed.

A Scottish historical romance, "In Her Bed," is set 1296, when Edward Longshanks of England wants Scotland. He sends his English knights to claim Scottish fiefs and wed Scottish noblewoman to bread a nation. Damian St. Giles is once such knight, but he has his own mind. Damian possesses the "kenning" a gift from his Scottish mother. The woman of his dreams haunts him and be believes that woman to be Tamlyn Ogilvie, who is engaged to marry Damian's cousin, Julian. Heartbroken, Damian drowns his sorrows in mead. Three teenage triplets promise him his heart's desire. They kidnap him and take him to Lyonglen.

Aithinne Ogilvie is the Lady of Lyonglen and she desperately desires to have a child. She believes the child will allow her to keep the glen, but when she sees Damian in her bed, she has doubts. Through her use of the kenning, she discoverers his heart favors Tamyln. Interestingly enough, while cousins, Aithinne and Tamlyn favor each other. Chained to her bed, Damian makes love to Aithinne. However, she's anguished by her deceit and sends Damian away after two nights with a tansy that's suppose to make him forget.

Three weeks later Damian arrives at Lyonglen to claim his inheritance and meets Aithinne again. With no drugs clouding his mind he realizes she's the woman of his dreams, but can Damian and Aithinne find love outside of her bed?

Having read "One Snowy Knight" I wanted to read more by McGillivray. This book did not disappoint. I did not want to put it down.

McGillivray's writing is crisp and sharp, engaging the reader on the first page. There's wonderful balance in the language, which makes vivid descriptions yet never lingers. It's easy to picture the book's setting, which made it easy for me to be drawn into the world of the characters.

Damian is honest and noble with a true sense of responsibility and passion, which give him depth. His rearing of Moffet, his bastard son, is admirable. Aithinne is all witch, and while her motives are good, her actions are questionable. When Damian walks into her life, she realizes in order to keep him, she'll have to be honest.

The love scenes are sensual, invoking true passion and a kenning bond between Aithinne and Damian.

"In Her Bed" is a deliciously guilty pleasure full of action, adventure, and romance.

My late was a beautiful historical writer and she could not say enough about Deborah Macgillivray's writing. She said this author was one of the best historical writers she'd ever read. I have to agree. I loved the humor, the gentle spirits of Aithinne and Damian. They simply stole my heart. I thought the brothers and Einar funny. It's just such a wonderful book, that I cannot wait for the next one in the series.

So this one gets two thumbs up - one from my beloved sister whom I miss very much and one from me.

Apparently the second book in a series, with One Snowy Knight being another book in the series, following a family known as the Dragons, and their interactions with a Scottish Highlnd group of families. Touch of the Fae added in with a good vs evil fight to it.

I enjoyed One Snowy Knight, and so I was looking forward to this sequel.

How disappointed I was. The author has basically written the same book twice, but changed the names and added more sex - and I found it impossible to like any of the characters. At the end of the book, Damian declares that he remembers "everything": in reality, if that were so, a person would not stick around to fall in love with the individual who had kidnapped, imprisoned and raped them unless they were suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. If there was a plot, it was hidden behind "the Kenning" and "I've seen your face in my dreams" - the same trope from One Snowy Knight (except that OSK had a plot, was fun and even gripping in places).

One of the most boring, predictable books I've ever tried to plough through.

I liked this better than the first book "A Restless Knight".I loved Damian St. Giles, Lord Ravenhawke in the previous book so was eager to read this. Lady Aithinne Ogilvie is trying to protect Lyonglen her home from the english King. Her guardian Lord Lyonglen is dead, so Aithinne comes up with a plan to pretend Lord Lyonglen is still alive and they are married. But she needs to get pregnant quickly with an heir before her lies are exposed. Her dopey brothers are sent to kidnap a virile man to impregnate her, and guess who the lucky man is?? She keeps him drugged and has her way with him.
I did not realise how stupid this plot sounds until I started writing this! Anyway it is better than the first book but Johanna Lindsay did this plot far better in "Prisoner of my Desire".

I liked this book. It had scenes from the first book but played out from a different prospective so it was a little weird in places. In my copy, Callen's brother who died, when mentioned by name, is called Maxum. Not really sure what happened with that but the kids are still named the same. The main character just keeps making things worse for herself and it is never as bad as she expects when all of her lies are revealed.

Yay another awesome story in the Dragons of Challon series! I loved Damian, he's a bit darker than Julian.. so my speed. Aithinne, the heroine is another strong female... I like how Deborah incorporated the first story with this one since they happened almost simultaneously... If you love Scottish historicals this is a good choice for you!

Loved this unique heroine who has an inspiring amount of ingenuity and courage, especially given her time period. She definitely stands out as the strength in this story, although her knight is by no means weak. It's just a refreshing take to have a heroine as the emotional power center. A very good read!!

Segundo volume da trilogia "The Dragons of Challon"

Passou grande parte do livro a chorar o que me saturou bastante.

In Her Bed fully lives up to the excellent reputation of Deborah Macgillivray for telling a wonderful tale. The hero, Damien St. Giles leaves you breathless. The heroine, Aithinne Ogilvie, makes you wish you were bold and beautiful--just like her. Take one kidnapped sperm donor [who happens to be a lord:], one strong-minded heiress determined to hold her castle and lands by becoming a mother--without the bother of a husband--and mix in a few zany characters. Like the overly obsequious giant Viking servant/bodyguard and the foolish triplet brothers, Hugh, Louis and Deward and you have a mix of fun and some serious, sensual love scenes. This sequel in the Dragons of Challon series is a wonderful read and I await the next book with great anticipation!

Also recommended: A Restless Knight, Invasion of Falgannon Isle, and Riding The Thunder! All from this talented author!

Not as good as the first, I think, but still all in all a pretty interesting storyline. Not your typical romance novel as this has magicks and lore in it. I like the fact that there is a real storyline with these books, it's not just SMUT.. but it's an interesting story of how two people come together and the 'earth and elements' seem to be for them. It ties in with the first book.

I'd definitely recommend this book to a friend seeking a quick read, something magical and romantic. It's comical as it is meant to be. The leads are both strong and not quite so typical of the romance novels.

I seem to agree with Deborah MacGillivray's review rating, so thought I'd read HER romance novel book. Light time-travel historical with a really fun opening (won't give that away). I enjoyed this so much, I'm soon going back in to read some of her other stuff.
