As far as Sylvie Johnson is concerned, her ex-husband used her and left her and she cannot stand the sight of him. Fifteen years after their divorce, her feelings haven’t changed. She wants nothing to do with him—no matter what her beating heart suggests.
Oscar Brooks has always assumed that his ex-wife hates him, but after an unplanned kiss, he’s not so sure. Why does she always have such a hostile response to his presence? Is it love, or is it hate? He’s determined to find out.

Come through Sylvie and Oscar with the mature black love! I love me some Sylvie and Oscar! And, that's saying a lot because I couldn't stand her in book one. As with all characters, Sylvie has a backstory and we get to understand why she is the way she is. Oscar is that dude though. He does not put up with Sylvie's shyt and has no problem gathering her all the way together. He definitely brought out her softer side. These two were perfect for one another and I'm glad they found their way back together.
Enjoyable QUICK read but Sylvie was a ball buster BIG TIME 2.0! Oscar, however was the only one who could rein her in! This title matches Oscar and Sylvia's story
Okay Sylvie and Oscar! I love an alpha female heroine who intimidates others but, is easily tamed by her partner. Oscar did not play. He had no problem whatsoever checkin' Slyvie when needed and, most of the time, it was often. I hate they let pride, keep them apart for so long but, Oscar said, "enough is enough" and got his wife back. Passion Rekindled was really good. Considering how much I couldn't stand her in book one, I was very shocked how quickly I jumped on Team Sylvie. I can't wait to dive into Ella's story.
First of all, thank you, Delaney Diamond, for doing a love story for two 50 somethings. We've still got it going on at 50! Second of all, a big thank you for doing this particular story. After seeing Sylvie and Oscar's reunion in Cameron and Simone's story, I was dying to know more about them - and if they would somehow manage to reunite. I wanted to ask for more when I wrote my review for A Passionate Love, but decided against it. Imagine my surprise when I saw your tweet a couple of weeks ago that the story was on its way. And that it would be longer than planned? Chile, my whole October was made!
Loved Oscar and Sylvie's book. I especially liked that they didn't spend a whole lot of time beating around the bush and fighting; they gave in to what they thought were long-dead (really long-denied) feelings and got themselves together. Well done, Ms. Delaney!
Another great read from one of my faves. As always, looking forward to whatever you plan to grace us with next!
QUICK...mature and SEXY read...ABSOLUTELY loved Oscar...but Sylvie was a BIT annoying at times...Oscar was her better-half...he kept her in check...she was a bit spoiled and downright mean and rude at times...even w/her staff...Oscar DEFINITELY brought out her softer side...for the life of me I don't know how they stayed together as long as they did...glad they were able to rekindle their love and move past the the hurt.
Sylvie loved her ex Oscar and he loved her. Hurt feelings and misunderstandings tore them apart but Oscar is determined to rekindle their romance. A cute short story. I enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to the other Brooks family members stories.
I loved the fact that this was a mature romance. I am loving Delaney Diamond and her books and her marriage reconciliation is always on the mark. Novellas are my jam and this one did not disappoint.
It was nice to read a story about an older couple. I don't encounter that nearly enough in romance and it honestly is a shame. I just wish I connected more to Sylvie and Oscar. I understand that their marriage dissolved due to various issues they both were dealing with. But it seemed like Sylvie had to bear the brunt of the burden, even though it was Oscar who decided to leave. Oscar didn't really seem to do enough to reconcile, in my opinion. The way he talked about Sylvie to his daughter (who's immaturity irked me) and his former girlfriend was unsettling to me. He never really apologized for that behavior either, and I was quite surprised Sylvie did not check him, as she came off as quite opinionated and direct when dealing with side characters. Communication still seemed to be their downfall, even at the last chapter, but they were talking about remarrying each other. It didn't seem necessary. Sylvie and Oscar need to spend more time learning how to rebuild their foundation. They can have a love and a passion rekindled that does not have to rush into marriage yet again. For this, I only found "Passion Rekindled" to be an ok read.

What a wonderful story! I felt right at home being reminded of the Johnson family and their traumatic history with some added background, and also touching on Simone and Cameron's lives from A Passionate Love. Really love this story. Sylvie turned out not to be as she appeared, but a hurting soul who was misunderstood - oh but she has a lashing tongue!! Haha, great! Oscar was lovely, all man and strong enough to handle Sylvie. Again, Delaney Diamond never disappoints! A truly recommended read!
It was ok, I felt the reasons for the break-up were weak, and he had been talking about her, no actually running her down to a woman who is now his ex girlfriend and their own daughter and we know this because both women tell her, he is present when the daughter says it and she tells him about his Ex-Girlfriend approaching her and he doesn't apologise. He just says he must like that type. I would have been hurt he had been so cruel saying such stuff but no it's all ok.
A great follow up to a passionate love. It was really sexy for a rekindled older folk love. Yet it did not seem like old folks. I liked that although she was the moneyed party, he was so forceful, strong and exciting that he still remained the man in the relationship. I sincerely hope that this is the beginning of a series with stories for Ella, Reese and Stephan.
A great story for us older readers. We all dream of that one special love that we lost or let slip away. Rekindled passion talks about that love and passion that you can rebuild once we let our guard down.
I enjoyed this second chance love story. Sylvia and Oscar divorced years ago because he felt she wasn't giving him any respect as a husband. It has taken fifteen years, but they end up trying again.
Love the Johnson family they play hard but love harder . But I would suggest that before you read this story you read the Johnson family first then kiss, Night , Love by Delaney Diamond. Love this author
This introduction story into a series was really good. Sylvie is a strong business woman who was once married to Oscar Brooks. Since being apart from Oscar, Sylvie because cold hearted and drowned herself into her workand events. That she didnt want to focus on he ex husband anymore.
Oscar suddenly comes back into Sylvie's life ready to make a mends. This novel is about how Sylvie and Oscar put everything aside to find their love for one another again.
I love that Oscar no matter what still wanted to prove to Sylvie that he still loved her even after all those years. He understood how their marriage ended and he basically wanted his wife back into life.
Sylvie although strong and very well into her business wouldnt allow anyone ruin her empire her children or her emotions. But she fell in weakness to the hands of her ex husband Oscar.
The author Delaney Diamond did an amazing job with this introduction story. I really want to to know more about Oscar and Sylvie and their grown sons and daughter. I'm looking foward to picking up the rest of the series as well as other novels by Delaney Diamond. I love this love story and will highly recommend.
[Writing this ~review on 12/19/2020...] *blinks* I guess past me listened to this book twice on the same day! Go past me!
Aha - since there's NO FREAKING BOOK BLURB/DESCRIPTION ... Sylvie and Oscar! This is the story of the kids parents! From the next books in the series! And of course I read everything out of order - or whatever, listened to the audiobooks out of order... WHATEVER.
I liked Sylvie and Oscar! I think this was a reunion story ... and I love that the characters were "older" though only in their 50s I think? Maybe early 60s? Their kids were in their 20s and 30s?
[OMFG I'M SO MAD AT SYLVIE FOR FUCKING SHIT UP FOR ONE OF HER DAUGHTERS.] Oscar ... he had an inferiority complex I think because Sylvia always had money?
And he gave up for a bit? But then he's like "yeah I really love her."
Sylvia is ... extra, iirc.
... I was annoyed there was NO information on the book, so reading some of the other reviews ... omg the ex girlfriend thing. UGH. Oscar is too like... passive/doesn'tcare [yes one word] - buying the ex jewelry or whatever just because she wants it to get her out of his hair. HOW THE FUCK DID YOU THINK THAT WOULD PLAY OUT/LOOK, DUMBASS.
I want to say they did actually talk through a lot of their issues, so that was good. And looking at the other reviews; I don't think I DID read "out of order" - although this is labeled book one ... it DOES take place after the other ones...]
:X but yeah - I ... I GUESS if I were to grade it, it'd be a C?
LOVED the mature characters- seems they were in their 50s, Black love, the reunion, etc.
Sure. C
[oh right - I'd forgotten some of the trauma Sylvie went through, ... which is why she's so "classist" etc too...]
Oscar Brooks is a handsome older gentleman who made a mistake 15 years ago, he hot a divorce. Sylvie Johnson is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, designer and a hardnose boss. She misses something in her life and that is her ex-husband Oscar. Theirs is a complicated situation but they both love their four children immensely. Oscar has come to town to help his daughter Simone. Sylvie hates her daughter's boyfriend and let him know it. In Oscar's quest to help his daughter, he wants his wife back. Sylvie is hurt..Oscar left her. Can she forgive him for that? Can they find love again after so much time? I love how Ms. Diamond told their story. Life is too short not to desire the one person who makes your soul sing... Great read..
Passion Rekindled is a second chance romance (as the title suggests) between an older couple that were married for years and then divorced for 15 years.
I liked the focus on a couple in their fifties. Their new-found romance forces them to confront the reasons they fell apart the first time. Despite starting out as enemies, they've both matured over the years and are able to work through their conflicts in a way their hot-headed younger versions couldn't.
Although this story can be read as a standalone, I feel it was more fulfilling reading it after book 1, since the timeline overlaps at some point, and events in book 1 actually trigger the meeting between Sylvie and Oscar, which led to the unplanned kiss (see blurb).
Love is a special thing especially when you have a opportunity to get it right. After 15 years of separation Sylvie finds herself back with her ex Oscar. What you find is that once the shell is broken and vulnerability is there, a love like none other is able to be unfolded. You'll love this story. As Stephan and Reese are two projective sons. Sylvie is the take no prisoner matriarch and boss with a sweet spot that is penetrated by those she love. The second chance at love is what we all seek
This was cute. But Sylvie was so cartoonishly uptight and awful. No one acts like that. Unrealistic is and understatement. I know these people are rich but why did they have to be so flat and basic. Nothing about Sylvia was realistic or made any sense. Her age isn’t mentioned but I’m assuming she’s in her 50s or 60s? Her character should’ve had some nuance and some actual development. Other than that Oscar was hot she was into it and it was a cute story..
This was an excellent second chance romance. Sylvie and her ex-husband Oscar had a lot of baggage to sort through and unload. One thing Sylvie had to learn was trust in herself and Oscar's love for her. Oscar had to decide not to never give up on them and leave when things got tough. My favorite quote from he book "you can't stop or control what people think or say about you, but you can control your reactions... Never look down on yourself"
This is a sweet, somewhat romantic story about the second chance at love. Although Sylvia is a very difficult person to love you can appreciate Oscar stepping up and being the strong man that this woman needs.
Just proves that it is never too late for true love.
This was a nice short story about two people who still loved each other even after they divorced. Their love was rekindle after realizing that their marriage ended due to misunderstandings and miscommunication. Highly recommend this book after reading the story of their daughter Simone’s book entitled A Passionate Love. Kudos to Delaney Diamond.
Can a husband and his ex-wife really reunite after being apart for 15 years? Oscar thinks he can convince Sylvie to give their marriage another chance. But powerhouse business mogul, Sylvie Johnson is not to be played with and Oscar is really going to have to up his game to persuade her he is worthy of a second chance!
This was a refreshing story of two people who never fell out of love but endured misunderstandings and immaturity but through time they found their way back to each other.
Another great story by Delaney. Sylvie had so many hurts that needed to be healed but Oscar’s love was enough to help her start that journey. A second chance at love is always beautiful.
A wonderful short of Love rekindled. I read book two and enjoyed it so much that I quickly purchased book one. I always enjoy Delaney's books, this one was just a good.
Enjoyed the first story in this series. I always enjoy a second chance at love storyline and Delaney delivered that with this story. I look forward to reading more from this series.
