When Robin Reed walks down the aisle with billionaire tycoon Oliver Marlowe, she has high hopes for their future together. But it doesn’t take long for her to realize that her new husband’s expectations for the marriage are very different from her own.
Determined to make the relationship work, Robin agrees to Oliver’s suggestion that they enlist the aid of an organization dedicated to ensuring that couples find what they need in their marriages, and soon the skilled staff of the Institute are on the case.
Publisher’s Note: Drastic Measures is the ninth book of The Institute Series. The books of The Institute Series are stand-alone novels which can be read in any order.
Emily Tilton, whose books have hit number one on Amazon in six different erotica categories, wishes she could live out her fantasies of submission the way her characters do.
Emily's erotica is a narrative version of her nearly lifelong quest to reconcile her submissive erotic orientation with her ethics. She writes erotic romance, but her books are always frankly and unashamedly about sex, because writing about sex helps her understand that fundamental part of her life better. She hopes maybe it does the same for her readers.
Over the many years since Emily became aware of her sometimes unbearable craving for spanking, ravishment, and all the shameful things that go with it, she has tried to come to terms with that craving in more ways than she can count. The first of the ways was by reading, voraciously, every piece of BDSM erotica she could find.
Eventually, she read "Story of O." As is reflected throughout her work, it changed her life, though the change has been gradual, and continues to this day. The idea that other women might share the lusts she has by turns been ashamed of and defiantly proud of, that a woman like the real Pauline Réage might write so beautifully of those lusts, and work them out so thoroughly and even pitilessly on a character, put Réage's famous pencil in her right hand. Or, to put it in the terms of EXPLORATIONS, which she considers her magnum opus, it put her left hand on the keyboard of her laptop and her right hand in her lap, if you know what she means. Emily started to write spanking stories.
The themes of the Institute continue. As do the kink themes of erotic shame.
In this one, the training of a woman who is already a wife links closely to the 2nd book in the series, with the Extreme Marriage program. But the Institute, guided by its shadowy political counterpart, is planning more specialized training for Robin in accordance with plans for Oliver's planned place in the new order.
I really enjoy the continuing societal evolution that takes place in the background of the stories.
This book features Robin, who has been married to Oliver and been somewhat aloof sexually. Though she was warned before she married him what he expected from her. So Oliver enlisted the help. Of the Institute to take her and train her so that she meets his. Desires of a submissive there is a lot of punishment met out
This book was short by comparison to the others. It skipped key scenes to the series and jumped to the end without a story of the “final night” before leaving the institute. The lead up to the final night was so promising.
I love this series, when instead of a pickup it is about a husband not satisfied by his wife’s total modesty. The other thing I enjoyed about this book was it went past the institute and delved further into what was to transpire into the future. Good job!
It is full of strangers punishing this wife because her husband insists she I s fringed. He goes to an institute and has his wife broken.they take her to the institute to train her .she is punished for no reason.her husband concents so they can join some unknown club. To save mankind it is nonsensical, and confusing. Then in the end with no love or touching or words of forgiveness (for doing nothing) she submits, and says she will allow him to share her with many others, this book is confusing and I know they say they love one another but I don't feel it. A man who let's strangers screw his wife, has her basically held against her will(she tries to escape but is stopped twice and punished severely) who allows his wife to be caned for now reason but to join a club to save mankind???? Just doesn't seem like a loving husband or a caring one.a women that forgets it all b and turns into a perfect who're for him seems ridiculous to me.This story is confusing to read and stupid. I love most of Emily's books but this one turned me completely off. Sorry Emily but I know you can do better
Wow, is this really book nine in the Institute series? Let me say this series is unique, in my opinion, in that you don't have to read the books in order or even read any of the other books in the series to enjoy this one. But then, I would also add, if you haven't read the others, what are you waiting for? I have read every one of them and found them fascinating. If you enjoy a book that has a plot that drags you in from the beginning, takes you on a steamy journey, with fantastic characters then look no further. Oliver and Robin embark on a journey to strengthen their bond and relationship, and it will keep you turning the pages until the end. No doubt. No spoilers from me, read the book for yourself and enjoy! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.
As usual The Institute Series #9 is well written and flows from beginning to the finish. If you like explicit erotic sex and heavy BDSM then you will love this book. Lots of spanking, anal play, group play and a somewhat sinister group of men. I was given this Advanced Reader Copy by the author for an honest review and the thoughts and opinions are mine.
