Ember Wells knows the meaning of terror. A reporter by day, her nights are spent hiding from a serial killer known as The Seeker. He's stalked her for a year, terrorizing her through the lens of a camera. Held prisoner by paranoia, fear becomes a lonely companion...until she meets bad boy, Angelo Dimitrov, a dark, mysterious vampire who sets her world on fire.
Angelo Dimitrov is not what he seems. Sexy as sin and shrouded in secrets, he appears out of nowhere and moves in next door. Should Ember run from this stranger with the moss green eyes or give in to her heart and be burned alive...
Recommend reading the books in order. Though this boxed set is a serial of five parts, merged together to complete book 1, it does have a Happy ever after. The rest of the books in the series are not serials. They are complete novels with a happy ever after as well, and the stories move forward with a new hero and heroine in books 2 and 3. This series is a dark paranormal romance with graphic and erotic scenes.

Dude: Angelo "Angel" Dimitrov - he's tall, dark and gorgeous with this irresistible air of mystery surrounding him. Maybe it's my over active imagination but I'm sensing some kind of otherness about him.
Dudette: Ember Wells - smart and sexy, she handles herself well and portrays a confidence that draws people to her.
The down low: Being the first part (of hopefully many) this novella sets up the conflict between the H/h. Ember, a kick ass reporter, finds herself once again in the sights of a killer. Question is, who wants her dead? There are lots of suspects and a whole lot of lust for her hunky (less than honest) neighbor who sets her desires ablaze.
Recommendation: Ember Burns, a short, erotic read, gets 5 stars. The book was engaging and addicting. This serial edition (a small chunk of an overall larger story) ends on a cliff hanger that leaves you panting for more. I can't wait for Ember's next release (...if ya know what I mean) ;-)
Favorite line(s): "Don't think, Ember, just burn."
Ember Burns is the first book in The Seeker series by Ditter Kellen. This one is the start of a very intense fast moving story. Ember Wells was just promoted to lead photojournalist at Lakeland Hedges. She is a busy lady who has no time for men in her life. Everything is going her way till an old case starts to haunt her. Someone is sending her photographs of a murder. She helped bust someone called the Watcher many years before, this looks like the same M.O. Is he alive? Has he come back to finish her off? Angelo or Angel is a dark mysterious man who enters Ember’s life. He is dominating, dangerous, and mysterious. Is he friend or foe? Her heart says lover, but could she be wrong? There is no clear ending in this book. But it will keep you on the edge of your seating wanting more. I really enjoyed this first installment and look forward to knowing what happens to Ember and Angel next. Ms Kellen hurry up and write more, I am waiting!
Ember is finally free of the torment she has experienced for a year. She was the target of a serial killer who is now behind bars. She has received a promotion at work and is looking forward to celebrating with her best friend Laura. when she gets home, she meets her neighbor Angelo and he is HOT! Suddenly she has strong feelings for him and they are reciprocated. Her friend calls and cancels so she is left alone. When she opens an envelope she received at work she finds that maybe the killer isn't gone. The next day more disturbing evidence appears and Laura decides to tell her father, a retired cop. Angelo and Ember get together again and the sparks fly!! What tantalizing sex scenes! WOW! So Hot!! She finds a folder in his kitchen and doubt surfaces. She flees and then...You need to read this!!!
Ember Burns is a hot and steamy erotic short read. I liked how the story captured me from the beginning. This book starts with a back story that will undoubtedly unfold throughout this series. I love how the characters are described with great detail. Love the slight humor. I did however hate the ending. But if you know Ditter Kellen or her work, you'll know she loves cliff hangers. I look forward to reading more in this series. A must add to your tbr list. Definitely recommended!!
This story grabbed me by my heart and dug in deep. I could not put the book down. The mystery surrounding Ember's threat had me on the edge of my chair. However, the mystery of Angel was the killer. He was hot, sexy, and made me wish I was Ember! Ditter did a fantastic job with this story. She wove her story in such a way that the reader has to come back for each installment. I can't wait for the next!
This story has me craving to read more. I was fully entranced by this author's style of writing. This author has an amazing talent at storytelling and has a way with words that makes me WANT to read more of the characters. The author has a very ingenious, yet phenomenal way of leaving me hanging at the end. Now I need to go and read the second one!! I highly recommend this book to all romance lovers. Though, I must say that reader discretion is advised.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. Being a photojournalist can create problems at times. Especially for Ember Wells when a serial killer, the Seeker, has her in his sights. After a year of being terrorized, finally he is caught. Then suddenly, the messages and pictures start again and Ember gets a new neighbour, is it just a coincidence or something more sinister. Very well written characters. The plot is fast and suspenseful, but also humorous at time. You'll keep listening to find out who did it.
this paranormal suspense romance is the first in the series , Ember is a very strong character who goes through some life changing events when she meets Angel a very strong VAMP, Ember is trying to find out who the Seeker is , a stalker who is killing innocent victims to get to her ,with no one to trust but herself she finds out whos friend a foe in this fast paced story. Looking forward to the next one.
This book was good.It just wasn't for me.A handsome ,mesmerizing man moves in next door to a woman who was stalked by a murderer a year ago.She is also getting threatening notes and will not tell the cops. When she finds information in the newbies apartment she is floored. Is he good or evil? Sommer Hines was a fine narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Ember Burns was a great read by Ditter Kellan. This is the first book in The Seeker Series. This book definitely left me wanting more. I definitely fell for Ember and Angelo. Ember and Angelo. Ember is a reporter who is finally free from her stalker, or so she thought. I can't wait to read more.
I think that this vampire story is a bit more unique than the previous books I have read before. The back story was really fun to listen to and to watch the relationship grow as well as the drama was very entertaining. Narration was done very well and matches the writing the way it should.

The Seeker: Ember Burns Book 1 in the Seeker Series
Ember Wells knows the fear of having a serial killer set his sights on you. For one horrible year she became the target of one man's twisted game. But with the killer convicted and behind bars, Ember's life as a photojournalist has finally returned to normal. That is, until Angelo Dimitrov moves in next door. Angelo, known as Angel, is sexy, irresistible, and definitely hiding something. He calls up every erotic fantasy Ember could imagine while triggering perpetual doubt in her reporter's mind. Now a copycat has emerged, with the killer's M.O. and signature, including his interest in Ember. With fear her constant companion, Ember's suspicions fall on her sexy new neighbor with one too many secrets. She can't trust him, but she burns for him, and Ember's heart refuses to believe the threats come from the Angel of her dreams.
I first found out about Ditter Kellen in an event I was a part of in the month of June. In which time I went a got the first book in the series. As I had started reading the book I was glued to my screen. Thinking as soon as I get to a stopping point it was bed time. The stopping point did not come till the end of the very short book (also did not pay attention to page count lol.) The way Ditter has the story plotted you would never imagine the twists she has in store for you (Even though she gives you hints) they go undetected. The one thing that I cannot decide on if I liked or hated was that she ended the story on a cliff that is higher than Mt. Everest. I did not like it because it was after midnight and I had to find out what happened next. (It was a must I would have never slept if I did not find out, you know that feeling you get when you’re in a book and you’re on the edge of finding out the secret or whatever it may be.) Over all I give this book a 5 star rating. It was short but very good and that’s the point. I fell that a good book does not depend on the number of pages it is, but the quality of it is more important. I give the editor and the publisher a 5 star as well. The book was an easy flowing read. Honestly maybe too easy flowing that I finished it within an hour or so. There were no mistakes in the book at all (unless you count the cliffhanger at the end lol… No I do not.) The cover was a little off on me at first but I don’t judge a book by its cover so I still went with it. I give this cover a 4 star in quality. I look forward to reading more of the Seeker Series and finding out what ember and angel have to hide. Have an amazing read and I hope you find this review helpful.
Title: Ember Burns (The Seeker, #1) Author: Ditter Kellen Cover Artist: Anne Cain Publisher: Loose ID Reviewer: Jay Genre: Contemporary Type: Romance Pairing: Heterosexual Length: Novella Heat Rating: 5 Flames Book Rating: 4.5 Stars
Ember Burns begins The Seeker series by Ditter Kellen. It kicks off a fast past, intense and exhilarating story. Ember has been in the sights and part of the twisted plans of a serial killer who is now behind bars. Amber has been promoted to lead photo journalist and is getting her life back on track. That is until her past appears to come back with the delivery of murder photos. Is it a copycat? Was the right person captured? Pick up a copy to find out.
Ember’s new next door neighbor, Angelo (Angel) Dimitrov, raises her suspicions since he doesn’t exactly appear to be who he says. Even with her suspicions Amber unexplainably feels an intense connection with Angel. When her best friend Laura cancels on her promotion celebration she is left alone and is drawn to Angel. When these two connect the sparks fly and the encounters between them are steamy.
Ember burns is a sexy fast paced ride that ends with a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more, much more. I found myself engrossed in a pager turner losing track of all that was happening around me. The writing style is captivating and engaging with the characters coming to life. The author’s mixture of sexual connection, action, mystery, and suspense combine giving us one hell of a ride. This is a recommended M/F erotic short story with and engaging plot.
The story started to pull me in and then it went over the top and lost me never to find me again. The author put a twist on how we see vampires we have come to know that you become one when you are bitten. Here the author said you have been one all your life but you must drink a lot of blood to be changed. I thought that was a little over the top as well as when Dracula came along that just put the stops on it for me. There were a few other places that I just did not feel the story came together. I did not feel the heat or even the lead up to passion. They met and hit the hay but I didn’t feel the chemistry at all. There just wasn’t any build up to give it what a true romance is all about. This has a great plot I just felt it needed a little more thought to it.
Robert Coltrane did a good job on narration. I did feel his female voices were close to being the same. I had a hard time knowing which one was talking. The male voices were great. The audio was clear with even tones. At times Mr. Coltrane voice seemed a little flat but it wasn’t that much to take away from the audio. There are no background noises and no change from high to low anywhere in the audio. I thought his character voice were good, clear and even. The music added to this audio was great it put you in the mood for what the author wrote.
I enjoyed some of the character and I thought others were a little much. All in all this wasn’t a bad audio the narrator makes this a nice listen. Just because it wasn’t more for me doesn’t mean it won’t be for you. I am sure you will enjoy the narrator and what he brings to the story. Give it a try you might find what I didn’t see.
Oh. My. God! That was a fantastic read! I'm not sure where to start. For a novelette, Ember Burns packs a lot in without leaving the reader feeling rushed or overwhelmed. And the cliffhanger ending reminds me of a television show ... and I freaking loved it!
Ms. Kellen's writing style made it easy for me to get to know Ember, her best friend Laura, and Angel quickly and become invested in them. My reading group recently discussed whether or not we liked books in which the main characters have sex with little to no relationship building. I am of the mind that it depends upon the book and how the author presents it. Let me just say that Ms. Kellen does an excellent job with the first sexual encounter between Ember and Angel and it soooooooo works. HOT!!! Where do I find my very own Angel?
The author combines the perfect amount of action, suspense, and sexual chemistry that I was extremely disappointed that it ended. Fortunately I have the sequel cued up to read as soon as I finish writing this review. I can't wait to find out what happens next ... especially after that ending.
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!
Ember has just gotten a promotion to lead photojournalist after dealing with a serial killer stalking her. She and the lead detective are close but not the way he wants it. She considers going out with him until she meets her hot new neighbor, Angelo. Angelo seems full of secrets that Ember wants to know...or does she? When she does find out, her world will never be the same.
The characters are well fleshed out as are the rules for this world. Ember isn’t and doesn’t become a damsel in distress that needs a lot of rescuing. The author stays consistent with the rules, a plus in a fantasy world. There is plenty of action here. If you don’t like steamy sex scenes, definitely not the book for you. Great start to the series, all of which are available, so you won’t have to wait for the next one.

From the Shadows - I enjoy some of this author's work and some not so much. I like this story but was bored with all the sex, not graphic but too frequent. There is a reason besides following the same old formula of vampires being worse than rabbits. I wish there was more to the suspense and intrigue, instead of the concentration on sex.
I was surprised to find Angelo didn't have certain vampire powers considering his age and his lineage, which was cool to discover his kin. Still a good story for entertainment. The characters are great to OK. I absolutely love Laura, she's a trip and a good soul. I found this author on Booksprout. 4*
Ember, a photojournalist, is trying to have a normal life after experiencing a “killer year”. One day she meets her sexy new neighbor, Angelo, and her world is never the same. She is thrown into the world of vampires and serial killers. With the help of her best friend Laura and her cousin Shon, and Angelo they battle supernatural and natural enemies.
This story had everything you can ask for, romance, mystery, comedy, and suspense. Couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to another chapter of their lives.

From the Shadows by Ditter Kellen is a part of the first book in The Seeker series. In this book, Ember Wells has just received a promotion at the newspaper she works at. However, not everyone is pleased for her as she begins to receive threatening photos and notes. The first night of her new job she also meets the man of her dreams Angel and begins a relationship with him. From the Shadows starts off with a dangerous mystery and is full of suspense. The relationship that develops between Ember and Angel is sensual and full of fun surprises. This is a great book for anyone who enjoys something paranormal in their suspenseful romance. From the Shadows is a not to be missed read!

Don't start this unless you have time to finish it!
I love a good vampire novel. This story has a good plotline and the vampires in this book are not like the typical ones in other stories. This book has humor, love, hate and a lot of surprises! I have to read the sequel!
It's been a while since I read a vampire novel and they all started to feel the same. This one has lifted me out of the drudge and kept me glued to my kindle. Great characters and intriguing plotline, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is an awesome story with plenty of twists and turns in it that kept me interesting and guessing. If you enjoy a good sexy vampire mystery thriller then grab this one, you won’t be disappointed.

Powerful short with a curious twist. I'm pretty impressed by the fast paced intensity. Ember and Angel are hot and heavy and very intense quite quickly. I can't wait to see where this series goes.
