My journey to become a writer began in 8th grade, when I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and pulled from school to recover. During this time, I was left alone for hours on end and it was then that I discovered new friends within the pages of books. I also learned the blessing of creating my own friends by writing down the stories that plagued my lonely mind—as demented as that sounds. Therefore at the ripe age of fourteen, I wrote my first novel. It sucked! But I kept going and now I am finalizing my first indie novel, with sequels to come, and two other series along with a fiction based blog. I never imagined that first horrible novel about a man who crash landed on his long lost home world would turn into a lifelong passion.
I now live in the

You know those books you never want to put down, and if they are a part of a series you just want to binge because they are that good? This is one of those series not joke I forget every time how much I loved this world until I start the next audiobook. The writing is phenomenal it sucks you in and makes you feel a part of this world.

Sam the half-fae who is more powerful than any of them is struggling with who she is. Coming to terms with her powers and accepting it isn’t a separate part of her but just apart of who she is.
Her choice to work with/for the humans isn’t something she takes lightly but something she needs to do. I liked that she doesn’t sugar coat things for anyone and that she is brutally honest. Even if that makes others uncomfortable she is her true self no matter what others think even if they look down on her for it.

Lieutenant Colonel Gallagher assigned Sam a protection detail who is pretty soldier like but you really can’t stay soldier like around her for long like I said she is too honest and you can’t help but be the same around her. Werner doesn’t know a lot about the fae or Sam for that matter but he is a fast learner and what I loved the most is how he just accepts her, I wish she could see what he sees. Because she is awesome and I think he has more than a little crush on her, but the job has to come first.

This story is far from over and as much as I want to keep going with the series I am going to wait for the audiobooks because they are AMAZING, no joke the narrator brings this world to life in a way I don’t think my imagination would. She gives everyone their own voice and once you hear it you picture that character I have only come across a few narrators that can do that in this genre. It is rare and a gift. I want more!

First novel FREE on Amazon. 4.5 stars for lovers of Chloe Neill and the Mercy Thompson series
The Void series is a great find and I'm really pleased with myself for this discovery. Thank you Charissa Dufour. I have launched into this series after loving her vampire trilogy 'The Series that Just Plain Sucks', so she has lived up to my expectations. This series continues to gather strength upon strength.

This book is a smooth transition from the previous novels and keeps up a good pace and ensuing mystery amongst general mayhem and carnage. If you have don't have the stomach for some serious action and slaughter, then don't bother with this series!

Sam continues to be a really strong character with a mind of her own and credible emotional turmoil, struggling around her lifestyle choices and her pursuit of justice. Vastly misunderstood - aren't we all!

The end of the novel takes an interesting turn and the author takes her literary prerogative to the limits as I wonder where the next novel will take the series.

This is my fave of the series so far!! Sam is working with the national guard to help them understand the reservations and fae community, stop the struggle of power and also solve the crazy murders that are going on...She is assigned a protection detail and meets Werner..they click and bond to solve this mystery!! I like how Werner accepts Sam for her and how he has such faith in her and I like how Sam refused to abuse her powers...This is a great series!! Good story, narration, and characters..I RECOMMEND!!! I need more asap!! :)

Samantha continues to battle on many fronts, and the cruelty surrounding her is astounding. A new regime controls the reservation and enlists her help but...

A well-written fast-paced story, with realistic and believable characters, albeit a fantasy. A great sense of place and story development.

I do hope there will be more to this intriguing series.

Highly recommended.

Sam never wanted to use her gift – the ability to take the magical powers from other mystics – to hurt anybody, but that hasn’t kept others from attacking her. Balanced Chaos, the third book in the Void Series sees Sam recovering from the injuries she suffered at the end of Book 2 as she tried to prevent a massacre of the vampires. Sam paid a heavy price in that fight and is even more determined now to not use her gift. But things on the mystic reservation have been changing while Sam recovers, and there are still members of the fae community that want Sam dead. The National Guard has been brought in to restore order and Sam soon finds herself working for the new commanding officer and with a bodyguard to help keep her safe. As Sam struggles to adjust to the new realities of the reservation, a new mystery crops up and Sam must investigate poisonings happening among the fae. But nothing is ever easy for Sam, and as the attacks on her continue, and the assassins seem to lurk around every corner, she must reluctantly tap into her gift if she wants to survive.

Balanced Chaos adds an interesting new element to Sam’s world. Sam continues to be a character you care about, and you definitely feel for her as the slings and arrows never seem to cease. Sam shows some growth in this installment of the series, though not as much as I would have liked to have seen. But for me, what really makes this book shine is the inclusion of a whole new set of characters in the form of the National Guardsmen brought in to take over from the mystic bureau. Characters like Lt. Col Gallagher add a new element to the story, especially the inclusion of Corporal Werner. Werner is assigned as Sam’s personal protective detail, and being able to see Sam and the reservation from Werner’s human perspective adds a new and refreshing twist on the tale. Couple that with a complex relationship between Sam and Werner, and you have a wonderful chance for character interaction that Charissa makes full use of by putting Sam and Werner in some very interesting and complicated situations. (No details, because SPOILERS!)

Overall, I really enjoyed Balanced Chaos. This third book in the series keeps up the pace from the previous books and Charissa has done a great job of weaving in additional plot items and foreshadowing for future events that I am sure Sam will have to deal with if she can get out of the current chaos in her life alive. I recommend this book for anybody interested in a twist on the typical urban fantasy story. Charissa continues to craft a fantastic world of magic penned into a tiny space, and like a pot sitting on a fire, the environment naturally creates conflict that threatens to boil over at any moment. Couple this setting with a strong-willed but reluctant heroine, and you have the makings of great urban fantasy.

I listened to the audio production of the book. Janelle Tedesco continues to do a wonderful job of narrating Sam’s story and bringing Sam to life. There were no problems with the production and it was a wonderful book to listen to and easy to enjoy.

Great Story! Great Audible Listen🎧 Fascinating & Entertaining

Balanced Chaos
The Void Series, Book 3
By: Charissa Dufour
Narrated by: Janelle Tedesco

Another well written, well told story in “The Void Series”. Charissa Dufour continues to be creative and imaginative with her storylines, characters and world dynamics. This story picks up where “Misguided Allies” ended, after that destructive battle. A homeless Sam is staying with Jason, the boyfriend of her friend and the Mage who will be teaching her how to control her powers. They are attacked by other Fae who are retaliation for the battle that ended in the 2nd book. This brings in the National Guard and the new leaders who offer Sam a job and a place to live. She will be the liaison between them and the supernatural in the reservation helping them investigate the criminal activity going on there. The new regime at the National Guard are much more receptive to her then her own people. They even assign a protective detail to keep her safe, her very own guard, Philip, I liked the chemistry between them and how they are forming a bond. He is really good for her but it makes you wonder why are they are so friendly to her, what do they really want. Several characters from the 1st two books make appearances, including Roman, I am still wondering what his part is the scheme of things and whose side is he really on. Lots of action in this fast paced story as well as drama, suspense, mystery and a bit of romance. I am looking forward to see what is coming next for Sam.

I listened to the Audible edition, Janelle Tedesco is a talented narrator and voice performer. She continues to bring these character to life, give each their own voice and personality. The emotions and attitude of the characters is reflected in her performance, as well as the drama of the story. She is a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

I listened to the audiobook version of this book.

Read the 1st two books in the series first; this one can be understood but won't be nearly as exciting. The author does an amazing job of bringing us a wholly unique story with Sam as a void. There is a new love interest that is intense. There is a lot of suspense and action throughout and Sam is a super strong heroine. As this series progresses, I find myself being more and more impressed with the author's writing and I look forward to the next book in the series!

Another amazing performance by this narrator! Her voice and acting was absolutely perfect as it has been in the last two books. She does a great male voice and her voice fits Sam's character exceptionally well. Can't wait for more by this narrator!

I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Sam is back with working for the government in a position she never believed she would be doing. Assigned protection and to serve as a go between the humans and fae. Things seem to be going well overall until suddenly certain fae are being poisoned and before she knows it her new job seems to be putting her into more danger than before. What’s a void to do?

I really enjoy this series
It’s such a shame the rest isn’t yet on audio.

We have a change in love interest from mage to human.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Fingers crossed there’s an update for audio soonish as it’s my preferred way to read.

Book 2 went so fast had to pick book 3 and read it right away in a single sitting.

The big question is whether there will be a book 4 as there's unanswered questions at the end.

Good magic world building, a bit too much killing and destruction... feelings of characters do not read true, love, lust, racists behaviors do not seem correct/logical to self-preservation
