Born in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan, Meghan O’Brien relocated to Northern California in 2005. As a transplant, she enjoys the moderate weather and gorgeous scenery of the Bay Area. Meghan lives with her wife, their son, three cats, three dogs, two snakes and several tarantulas. Yes, it can be just as chaotic as it sounds.
Meghan’s day job is as a software developer, but her real passion is writing. From her humble beginnings creating numerous “books” out of construction paper and crayons as soon as she learned to write, to her several published novels and various anthology contributions, writing is what makes her feel most complete. The Gift is another little gem I found on the author's website. It's a sweet novella set in some kind of medieval world. We have the tough warrior, who interestingly enough is still a virgin and believes in giving herself only to someone she loves. But, how to refuse the king when he presents her with a gift for her brave fight in the war. This story stayed with me for a while, so much so that I illustrated a scene in the story. And as this does not have a cover yet, I took the liberty to create one.
And here I thought I'd read all of her stuff. Thank you goodreads. This was a really awesome novella. Listened to it with voice dream. Absolutely loved it.
Chivalry, courtesy and evocative language makes this and ideal story for cold snowy December evening. Some scenes stay longer under my eyelids and warm up my heart.
➬➱➫➩➪【4 Stars】 This novella showcases a fantasy in which both MCs are in an unequal relationship because of the power imbalance. However, this is dealt with in such a beautiful way that nothing felt gross. I could feel the care Janna has with her “gift”. Due to the novella’s length it feels insta-lovey, but their passion helps develop into a full-fledged relationship. I’ve reread this story so many times and think it’s such a sexy short read. Recommended! ➢Happy reading!
I absolutely loved this novella. I loved how, even though Janna is a season warrior and commander, she is still a such an innocent. Moira has never had a choice on who she wished to share herself with. Janna gives her the gift of choice and Moira gifts her in return with the gift of love. I wouldn’t mind if this was turned into a full length novel. I love historical fiction.

4 stars. This was so beautifully written. My goodness. There’s so much heart and depth to this for it to be so short. It’s super impressive. The love between Janna and Moira was intense and so gorgeous. I liked both characters a lot and their chemistry was so good. This was just so lovely. Erotic and tender and definitely one I could see myself re-reading.
I really should give this book 3.5 stars. It is a sweet liberating love finding kind of story. I just felt it was shallow on some areas especially character building. However, the writer never failed on building reader's erotic thoughts
