An alternate cover edition exists here.

When the storm ends, there’s a calm in the air that shows you everything is going to be all right.

But nothing may ever be right again.

Delani Delvecchio has weathered storm after storm throughout her life, but this one may have the potential to break her. After what is supposed to be an anniversary celebration with her friends and boyfriend, Delani gets pulled into her own personal hell.

Taken. Beaten. Tormented.

Delani fights and makes it out, only to realize she’s not safe at home—she’s no longer safe in New York at all. With an untraceable phone, clothes that aren’t her own, and enough money to get her by, she gets on a train and heads to the last place she felt she would be looked for.

What she didn’t expect to find when she got there was him.

Cocky. Charismatic. Safe.

Brody Russell, small town cop, quickly becomes the calm during Delani’s storm.

His presence makes her forget and his southern charm works its way into her heart.

Brody promises to protect her, to be right by her side when the storm ends.

But what if this storm is only the beginning?

I think I'm in a book funk. Nothing is clicking for me!

I was started to get really aggravated with this h and her prissy behavior. I also felt like there were big inconsistencies with her character, because I was often confused by her behavior. She even started to cross that line into tstl which is a big no-no for me.

The H, however, was awesome! No complaints there.

It very well could be a "it's not you, it's me" thing, but I think it was just time for me to throw in the towel...

This will be the first time reading anything by this author so I'm keen to see what kind of journey she takes me on with this book.

WHEN THE STORM ENDS: Straight away this jumps into the nitty gritty goose bumps up your spine goodness. I didn't expect to be thrown into the deep end as quickly as I did, I thought there would be a build up, but only a few chapters in is where everything happens fast paced which I think is a great way to start off.

What was supposed to be a carefree happy night out celebrating their one year anniversary with her boyfriend Cole, Delani Delvecchio's night takes a drastic turn for the worst.

Awoken in the middle of the night, by intruders, she's taken as collateral damage until further notice. Held captive in an unknown location, her only thought is escaping. An unforeseen opportunity arises that sees her racing for freedom

Who can she trust to help her?

Laying low in the deep outback of Texas she strikes up an unlikely friendship with a local cop.

Will he be able to keep her safe?

When danger finds her again will she make it out unscathed or will danger always follow her?

This is my first Jillian Anselmi read and I can confidently say it won't be my last!

Delani is young woman living the life of a privileged young woman in New York City, although her life has not been without struggles. Still, the challenges she has faced up until this point are nothing like what she is faced with when she discovers what her boyfriend has been up to, and dragged her into. When she flees to a small town in southern Texas, she doesn't think she'll ever be able to trust another man again.

Brody is a small town country boy turned police officer, who has been dealt his share of heartache. When he first sees Delani, he is completely taken by her, but she wants nothing to do with his cocky and obnoxious smart mouth, pickup lines and play boy attitude.

When danger finds Delani once again, can Brody keep her safe? Can he get her to come back from the horrors of what she's endured and let him help her see what he sees?

I am beyond in love with this book!
It's my first Jillian Anselmi read but it won't be my last, I don't know how I have missed this author until now but I'm so glad I found her.

When the Storm Ends is the story of a woman who's dealt with more than her fair share of loss and suffering. She has a great boyfriend and things couldn't be better. On their first anniversary everything she though she had is taken from her.
She's taken.
She's tortured and suffers abuse at the hands of many.
The first chance she has to escape she takes, and then goes into hiding.

Brody Russell is crude, cocky and sexy as hell.
He's also the cop tasked with keeping Delani safe.
He hits on her from their first meeting, he's pushy an she's initially put off by him but that soon changes!
Brody was easy to adore once you got past his initial sense of humor, his fierce need to protect sold me long before seeing his heart.
He could easily be one of my favorite heroes to date. He's passionate, caring and protective with a touch of dominance - the perfect package.

Once Brody helps her regain some sort of normalcy in her life the bottom drops out once again leaving Brody injured and Delani missing.

I'm so glad I read this book and found a new author to love. I read this book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down, not without knowing how it ended.

I really Can't deal with the heroine this one started good the Heroine was kidnap and rape because of someone else's mistakes and when she escapes she moves far away because she doesn't feel safe where she lives
for me it when downhill from the minute she steps out of the train she turned into a spoiled uptight rich bitch she complain non stop about everything the place was too small the closet the painting on the walls even the damn coffee

How the Hero put up with this and found it charming I have no idea

4* read.

This is my first time reading anything by this author. I always commend a author who takes a really hard subject and takes you on their emotional journey through everything which is what this author did.

Delani endures so much but yet is such a strong character and when she meets Brody (though i wont tell you how as I don't want to give the story away) i was really rooting for them. Brody lightened up this read and once you get his personality hes a easy character to fall in love with.

I look forward to more from this author.

Decent story. Felt a little too easy for Lani to get past her trauma. And as a native Texan, the language didn't feel authentic.

She acted like a total spoiled brat in the beginning, but got better with time.

The end felt a little rushed.

"This is your storm. You'll get through this, I promise."

This. This line right here—it hit my feels hard, because it was so achingly relatable. We all have a storm. To have someone beside you, believing you can weather it...that's something else.

When the Storm Ends is actually full of such lines—ones that spoke to me and made me feel what this author was putting down on paper. The pain and betrayal, yes. But also the friendship (Taryn is the perfect, supportive female friend, and I adored her), the love, and the levity.

Yes, levity. Because, despite some heart wrenching moments like this...

Please, don't let him leave. Don't let him see me as damaged and broken."

...there are also some really sweet, sexy and funny ones, too. It was surprising and welcome; a balance that made this suspenseful book a bit easier to read, and a lot easier to love.

And I did. I loved this book. Admittedly, I struggled a little with an emotional disconnect in the early parts of Delani and Brody's relationship—I was expecting to feel more impact from her ordeal—and had some Travis-related concerns, but it wasn't long before I was completely and utterly won over.

And completely heartbroken. Oof. And yet, I was still also there with Lani as she fell for Brody. Give me a cocky, charming cowboy, and watch me swoon. Which I did, without hesitation, for Brody Russell. He was a little pushy, a little arrogant, and so very gentle with his girl that my heart (and my panties, TBH) didn't stand a chance.

Especially as he stood there, believing Lani could weather her storm—a storm I feel like might not be over...and that I would love to read more about in the future.

"You are the most cocky, controlling, patronizing and wonderfully caring man I've ever known."

Delani is a rich girl that is living the great lifestyle and discovers her boyfriend Cole is dealing drugs and now owes the cartel lots of money. She is taken by the cartel in exchange for the money that Cole owes them and is passed around to all the men by Armond her capture. She hides out in Texas and meets Brody and she is not sure she can begin a long term relationship after what she went through. I like the storyline with romance and suspense, but the story did not seem complete. If someone was taken and abused I would assume it would take longer to recover to begin a new relationship and she didn't seem like she was worried about her safety only that there was not much to do in town. Brody was a great character, loved him from the beginning, he was cocky, confident and sexy. Not much was mentioned in the story of the police or FBI tracking Armond or her previous boyfriend which both seemed to find her pretty easily and why she was targeted and how they got to her money. There were a few holes, but story was interesting.

A hot model from the inner city meets a country Texas cowboy meets the wind sails of a stormy night where sweaty temperatures rise on a rain drenched night after night. She is safe in a cowboy's arms, where her captor can't find her, hoping to be rescued by her boyfriend in time. between Brody & Delani's lover's quarrel, line dancing across the room doing the electric slide, battering back and forth, was a sweet, funny, at times it was dangerous, & all around a good book about women who get abused & raped every day to read on a stormy day especially when the electric goes out & you got nothing better to do.

So so book

I tried real hard to love this book but it just couldn't get to that place. U take a self centered rich bitch girl with a coke head boyfriend; who then gets raped and tormented for that boyfriend as payment for his habit who then escapes and doesn't go to the police and heads to Texas to hide from her rapist and ends up with a cop. It just didn't seem to work for me, you don't go from being raped brutally to happy and normal

3.5 – 4 stars

I’m really unsure where to start with this review, but here goes. This book is a little dark, and it’s not so much what is written but more about where your imagination takes you. I have read many books that have a darker edge to them, and the only thing I will say is that I personally felt things moved a little too quick after Delani (Lani) was taken; I expected more mental torture before any physical abuse took place.

This is not your typical romance story nor is it a typical darker romance story, it kind of falls in the middle somewhere. I loved Brody, our male lead, he was a fun character to get to know and I loved his Southern charm and humour, at first he came off as a little insensitive, but that was more to do with ignorance, once he knew Lani’s story the protective alpha male comes out to play. Delani is our female lead, and for me her character was a little confusing. I liked her, and had lots of sympathy for what she had been through both in her childhood and then with the kidnapping, but my confusion was to do with how she moved on without any sort of professional help and although you see the interaction between the two main characters, the feelings they develop for one another were told to you, you didn’t actually feel it.

The supporting characters all played their roles really well whether good guys or bad, they made the story what it was. I will admit losing a certain character was a little hard to swallow, I personally think the author could have steered away from that, with the overload of emotions being felt for Lani and Brody, I thought it was an unnecessary loss.

The storyline was gripping and did have me constantly on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen; personally I think the author could have added a few extra chapters as a few areas felt rushed, and I for one like an epilogue, especially with this story I really wanted to know how the future looked for this couple.

Overall an intense story line with loveable characters, it just fell a little flat with the ending.

description

When the Storm Ends was a great 5 star read.

Delani is happy and ready to celebrate her one year anniversary with her boyfriend, Cole. The evening takes a terrible twist and Delani finds herself being abducted from her home in the morning.
She is brutally attacked and assaulted for days, all because of something Cole got involved in. She escapes and flees town with the help of her friend Taryn.

Storm’s roll in angry and fierce, thunder rollin’, lighting flashin’, but when the storm ends, there’s a calm in the air that shows you everthin’ is gonna be all right.

In Texas, Delani meets Brody one of the officers that will be helping her. He is a cocky man with quite the mouth on him. He eventually gets under Delani’s skin, he is a very persistent man. We get to see a kind and loving side to Brody as well.

“You are the most cocky, controlling, patronizing, and wonderfully caring man I’ve ever known.”

Things not only heat up between Delani and Brody but all heck breaks loose when Delani’s location is discovered. Will Brody be able to protect Delani?

I really enjoyed When the Storm Ends, I loved all of the southern sayings that Brody would throw out, I had a few LOL moments. Delani’s sassiness was great also, she really gave it back to Brody. I have to admit at first I didn’t like Brody, I thought he was a filthy womanizer, however he grew on me and I absolutely love him. You will be on the edge of your seat waiting to see what's next and the secondary characters were great as well. I wouldn’t mind seeing more from this couple. Thank you Jillian Anselmi for a great read.

Delani Delvecchio is used to living the high life in New York on her trust fund since the death of her parents. By her side is her best friend Taryn and boyfriend of one year, Cole. Yet Cole has a side to him that Delani knew nothing about and soon her own life is threatened due to Cole's actions.

Delani finds herself kidnapped to punish Cole where she is physically abused and sexually assaulted. When she manages to escape she knows she is no longer safe in New York and heads to Texas to stay with Taryn's cousin Travis, a cop.

But soon Delani finds herself being guarded by fellow cop Brody Russell. Brody pushes all of Delani's buttons and challenges her in ways that she wasn't expecting. Yet he also shows her how to live life and soon she finds herself extremely attracted to him.

When it's evident that Delani's past has come back will Brody be able to keep her safe?

I loved this book from start to finish. There were definitely some things in this book that were super difficult to read about and Delani definitely went through hell. Yet through the book there is also a theme of getting through the storm and being ok when it is over.

At first Delani is a little hard to relate to as most of us don't live the way she does but after reading about her experiences you understand her more and truly want the best for her! I love her referring to Brody as "catnip" - something you know isn't good for you but that you can't keep away from. Delani has so many nightmares and she is gradually beginning to feel safe and starts healing when the past comes back and then she becomes broken again.

Brody is just so much fun to read about. He is cocky yet fun and knows that Delani needs to feel safe. Yet he had no idea the extent of what she went through until she told him and I think for him that makes him love her even more. He is dependable and a guy you'd love to have around. I can't imagine what he went through when everything went down and he felt like he failed Delani.

This was such an emotional book and the first time I have read this author. After this I will definitely read more and I really hope we get a book with Taryn and Dominic!

"This book is for all the women who have and will continue to endure."

I've always found it amazing that these days so many authors - and yet, not nearly enough - have courage and strength to write about topics that are tough to read about, in this case terrible physical and mental abuse the main character survived. It's very important that the strength and bravery of all the women who have suffered something similar is recognized - and one of those amazing women is also the main character pictured in this book.

The story is very intense and tough to read through at times - Delani's suffering brought tears to my eyes a few times. However, her strength and determination to move past all those terrible things that happened to her had me smiling and loving and most of all, admiring her. Brody was, at first, just another funny, goofy character, a women-loving player, but as the story progressed, another side of him can be seen: loving, caring and protective Brody who I loved!

"This is what I've been craving. He's taken all of my fears and made me believe I can be myself again. This is what I need."

The story is fast-paced and very suspenseful. Even though the conclusion to the general story was reached by the end of the book, I feel as though some sort of the epilogue should have been there - because, although the main story line was finished, I would have liked one more glimpse, some more information about Brody and Delani.

Very intense, fast-paced, super interesting and suspenseful: heart-breaking, heart-stopping and heart-warming, this book is recommended to all the lovers of suspense romance. (However, be warned away if you have tough time reading about topics of abuse.)

An ARC was received by Jillian Anselmi and Be Me Book Boyfriend in exchange for an honest review - thank you for the opportunity.

I really enjoyed the path Delani and Brody take in this book. I liked the progress of their relationship and specifically the way Brody treats Delani when she panics, and the first time they are together intimately. I think those scenes were written extremely well and helped to build Brody into a great character - definitely a keeper!
Delani or Lani herself had a lot of baggage before she was kidnapped and raped for 4 days, but unfortunately for me her reactions after the kidnapping didn't ring true (but then, what do I know?) I just felt that when she arrived in Dayton, to find she was being well looked after with a home provided for her she would feel more relief and gratitude, but instead she comes across as shallow and entitled. At one stage she thinks to herself 'I don't want to be too prissy or come off as some sort of spoiled city girl.' and all I could think was - umm, too late.
Overall though, while it isn't her kidnapping and rape experience that brings a little dose of realism to her life, it's her burgeoning relationship with Brody.
He makes her think about things differently, which for her can only be a good thing.
So, while the writing style here could use a little polish and Lani herself is less than a likeable character to start off with, I think she grows well in the book, helped along the way by an initially immature and inappropriate Brody, who also grows into a man worth his salt. A good read with some sexy love scenes.

When the Storm Ends is a book about a girl called Delani who experiences a tragic and traumatising experience when he boyfriend gets her involved in his criminal debt. Delani is kidnapped by the people Cole owes hundreds of thousands of dollars, while kidnapped Delani is abused and raped. When Delani finally escapes she enlists the from a wonderful lady and her best friend Taryn, from there she escapes to Texas where she meets up with Taryn's cousin Travis who is a cop in Texas, through Travis she meets Brody Russell.
Brody is a cocky, charismatic southerner who gets under her skin in all the right ways. Brody helps Delani freshen up her small apartment and find herself again. Brody helps her get over her fear by being a sweetheart, and helping her heal.

I was enjoying this book and was prepared to give it 3 stars, however at about 80%, my enjoyment went down. I understand that the author need to put in another complication, I also didn't like that there was no epilogue at the end, or one more chapter that would have shown how much Delani had healed and how their relationship went. It just didn't feel like it ended in a proper HEA, even though h and H ended up back together.

Emotionally charged and all consuming. Written with so many dynamics. The emotional demons are written with empathy towards each character. The characters are connected physically and emotionally, with each one fighting their own demons, from their past, present and future. Heartbreaking, intriguing and hopeful.

Lani finds she doesn't really know how to process the horrendous circumstances she has endured. She will never be her old self again. She faces a future with someone she has become, but doesn't know. Trying to find herself again, she must face being someone who is wanted by a man who loves her, another man who betrayed her and hiding herself from the evil that took all she ever knew.

Brody finds himself on a path of protection and love. Doing everything he can to keep her safe, his struggle is trying to help her heal, but when danger is present, he must find his inner strength to keep her from falling down further into the hell she has endured.

The emotional instability a person must overcome after being violated in so many ways, can be overwhelming in itself. Being able to put into words the horrifying events, the subsequent aftermath and the long term healing with the love of others is sometimes a hardship for authors. Jillian has hit this nail on the head with the compassion and details of how each character reacts to each circumstance. From feeling broken, loss of one's self, uncertainty, trust and love. This story will take you to another level of humanity.

I fell in love with Kate’s writing when I read her first book Drawn To You and I continue to love her writing in her third book When The Storm Ends.

This is a story about inner strength and survival. It's about not losing your faith in others after the unspeakable happens to you. It's about loving yourself and letting others love you even if you don't think you deserve it.

Delani lives in New York and has the life she always wanted. Someone she loves lies to her and her nightmare begins. With the help of her best friend Taryn and Taryn' s boyfriend Dominic she is able to escape to Texas and put her life back together. Enter Brody. He is a police officer that is going to help keep her safe in small town Texas.

If you love hot, sexy, self assured alpha males Brody is the man for you. He has a snarky sense of humor and he gives as good as he gets. He is super protective and underneath his gruff exterior he has a heart of gold. He is the complete package and everything you could want in a man to love you.

Brought together through unusual circumstances they annoy each other to no end and fall for each other. They show each other things they never knew they wanted.
Just when you think the storm has ended all hell breaks loose.
Will Brody be able to keep Lani safe ? Will Lani ever be the same? Will their relationship survive? You are going to have to read this book to find out. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you again Kate for another amazing story. I look forward to your next book.

When the Storm Ends is the story of Delani and Brody. It's a standalone but their story continues in Surviving The Storm if you want to know more about this couple who show amazing strength and love for each other.

This was the first book I read by this author and what a great way to be introduced to her books. When The Storm Ends had me gripped throughout and I couldn't put it down. I read it all in one night and was left thinking ‘oh my god’ when I'd finished. This book stayed with me for days after and I couldn't wait for Surviving The Storm as I needed more of Delani and Brody.

This book does deal with sensitive subjects but the author takes great care and at no point did I feel unable to continue reading. This wasn't my usual type of book but I'm so glad that I downloaded it and I'll definitely be reading this author’s previous books; the Chasing Olivia series. I've already read Surviving The Storm and awarded it 5 stars!

I fully recommend that you purchase When The Storm Ends today and be prepared for a book that makes your heart ache and stomach drop but leaves you wanting more as you see a couple find each other and fight together against people you hope you never meet.

Delani has a perfect live. In the matter of minutes that changes. She learns things about her boyfriend that put her in danger. As tragedy strikes the storm begins. When Delani escapes she goes into hiding. When she does she finds the person who will save her from her storm

The characters in this book were compelling and multi faceted. Brody was your true cowboy. He was an alpha male that you will fall in love with. Delani was a city girl who was stuck up at first but you will see her grow in this story. She breaks down and rebuilds herself. The secondary characters in this book were also great.

Ms. Anselmi did a great job of writing at book that kept you guessing. She threw in twists and turns that I did not see coming. This truly was a story that was tragic and heartwarming. You will be rooting for Delani and Brody to get their HEA.

I read this book in less than half a day... wow this book! It had sorrow, angst, love, lust, loss, and so much more. I hope this is a series and there is more to come.

Lani/Brody - both changed throughout the story! Lani seemed to be stuck up when she got to Texas. But going to NYC to Texas is a big difference I get it. Brody seemed like a selfish prick in the beginning but there is more that meets the eye.

I noticed myself smiling as her sassiness and his cockiness. It reminded me on how I met my name. He too is from Texas, so I could connect with the jokes and comments. It felt familiar.

I also an snobby about my coffee and most of it is disgusting if it's not going from Starbucks. #igetit

An ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

Delani and Brody....sigh. They are just so right for each other. The chemistry, tenderness, sexiness, it's all there between them.

Delani founds herself in a situation that she could have never imagined would happen to her. After the horrendous ordeal, she knows she has to get away from it all. She flees to Texas and there meets local copy Brody. There is instant chemistry and attraction between them but Delani doesn't want anything to do with Brody. But she might just can't help but fall for Brody's charms. And Brody might be who she needs to keep her safe from the danger that is lurking.

Can Brody and Delani be what each other need? Can they survive the danger that is headed there way?
