Alina Petrov is a virgin who knows nothing of love or lust. What she does know is loss. After her father’s murder, she is forced to move in with Nikolai Sokolov, a powerful and sexy mob boss.
Despite his infuriating rules, Alina can’t help her fierce attraction to Nikolai. He’s danger walking—and they’re set to collide.
But something is simmering in the criminal underworld, something that threatens to tear both their lives apart. As Alina falls pregnant with a mobster's baby, her life changes forever.
Can Nikolai protect Alina and their unborn baby? Or is he the one she needs protecting from?
Note: This story contains hot, steamy scenes between a Russian mafia boss and an innocent female lead!
Not much of a mafia element. Alina's father gets killed but then it's pretty tame from there until the end. I mean, they work with the cops. What the hell mafia does that unless it's to pay the cops off? The romance was pretty empty, but that's mostly Alina's fault. She was sooooo insecure. Even after he's confessed his love and everything, she's still wondering if it's real and doubting their future. Ughh. Put on your big girl panties and have a freaking happily ever after, for goodness sake. The sex was hot, for the most part. The mystery of wondering who killed Alina's father and how they were framing what's his face (don't remember how his name is spelled) is interesting.
Nikolai was wonderful and the epitome of the Alpha male but Alina was a whiny, spoiled bitch. She was complaining the entire book and was so damn insecured and stupid. Wished someone would had put a bullet in that brain of her's. The ending was lame and so boring. She distrusted him and believed he killed her dad despite just saying the chapter before that she didn't believed he did. Nikolai was a jerk and all but he deserved better than a rotten brat. Plus she didn't want to get married to him until AFTER she gave birth because she didn't trust him to want her and not just because she was pregnant. Yea, she's she should had ate a bullet.
This is the first time reading a book from Bella Rose and I have no regrets. Seeing some of the reviews and ratings didn’t stop me from giving this book a go.
It’s started with a BANG! The Bravata Mob Boss Yuri was killed at his home and his daughter Alina found him. She was rushed to safety by one of her bodyguards Kristof. Alina has two bodyguards assigned to her since she was younger, Kristof and Timur. Upon Yuri’s death, Nikolai another mob boss he raised from a young age is to become his next in line. Some people in the Bravata wasn’t to happy to hear this and needed the new mob boss to give up the role.
Yuri made sure that his daughter would be taken care of and protected in case of his death, so he named Nikolai her protecter, he knew that Nikolai was keep her safe and he trusted him. Alina moved into Nikolai’s home after her life was in danger, Yuri’s killer wants her dead because she may have seen something. Since moving in with Nikolai and fearing for her life, she hasn’t given up on finding her fathers’s murderer. She needs answers and Nikolai is the only person she knows can get them.
Nikolai received two gifts at him home from an anonymous person trying to frame him for Yuri’s murder. One was Yuri’s ring dipped in his blood and the gun used to kill him, a gun that belonged to Nikolai. Nikolai’s realizes that someone in his crew his a rat and is trying to frame him.
The persons closes to both Nikolai and Alina betrayed them. It’s the person you least expected or if you are like me, suspected him.
I wouldn’t lie, I was left a little confused, unless I missed it, I wasn’t sure who Danik was and his role to both Nikolai and Alina.
I enjoyed this book, it wasn’t much mafia but it was a good read that deserved my rating.
I can genuinely say that I did somewhat enjoy this book, although my thoughts weren't exactly in favor of the character's and their actions. Nikolai was a pretty reasonable, sensible, and likeable character, but on the other hand, I felt like Alina was way too immature and way too "all over the place." Constantly putting herself in dangerous positions just because she chooses to act before she thinks and of course due to the mafia man stereotype, Nikolai pulls her out of those situations and would "give his life for her." I honestly just feel like although the two may have had decent chemistry in the book, they don't entirely fit together.
This one mob love is lack of depth. The story did roll out nicely and the transition were smooth, but it is just lack of depth in the story. Some are a bit unbelievable. They rarely act like mob, except the heavily guarded estate and the turmoil with some murderous act (it's just one murder and told really briefly). The smexy scene was okay with quite steamy scenes here and there. I was expecting e bit more from this book though.
When I read a mafia book I expect certain things. This one didn't have it. They work with the cops crying out loud. That isn't what happens. After a bit Alina was getting annoyed with her escaping everything else. This book really isn't a mafia book period. Thankfully it was on KU so I didn't waste my money.
I didn't get the mafia feel on this read, plus it was predictable. It didn't help that the author practically gave the entire story in the book blurb. It was kind of a flatline story, there were some interesting parts, but it didn't flow and it was hard to connect with the characters.
This was an excellent story. Though I had my suspicions on who killed her father I was not expecting the one that did pull the trigger. Found the story to be sweet and not long enough :\
Such a terrific page turner. Strong storylines, strong characters all equals a book truly impossible to put down. If you dont read this you have no idea what you are missing.
I didn't like Alina because in the beginning she wanted to get out of the mafia world. She dreamed on having a job and a house by herself. But at the end she realized that all she wanted was being a wife and a mother. She dropped all her dreams to be with Nikolai.

this book wasnt bad but i just want to say when i see pregnancy in the title i, like any other person would, just assume that its a plot point but i waited and waited for the pregnancy and it just happened in the last 30 pages like??? it wasnt even necessary i was kinda disappointed not gonna lie
Finished it in a day. Can't put it down because I was dying to know if my suspicion was right that whoever killed her dad is someone that she knows and I was right all along.
I have read every Russian mafia book that Bella Rose has written and this book delivered just like her previous books. Ms Rose always drags me into her books from the beginning until the last page. The storyline flows so well that it makes her books impossible not to read. I find myself waiting until her next book is published. In this book we meet Alina. Her father is the head of the Russian mob in part of Russia. Alina has everything that she could possibly want material wise but none of that matters to her. Her father has had someone protecting her in the background all of her life. He wants to protect her from the evil in the world. Alina just finished college and wants to make it on her own. Tragedy strikes and Alina is left under the protection of Nikolai, her father's successor. Alina feels like she has went from one cage to another. Nikolai puts rules in place for her that he expects her to follow. Nikolai goes about business as usual, while trying to investigate who killed Alina father. He doesn't see that Alina is depressed and lonely. The problem is that the more time he spends with her,the more he wants her. Many believe that Nikolia is guilty of killing Alina's father. Can the man that she is starting to have feelings for be her father's killer? Is Nikolai just using her for his own image as the new boss? Can Alina even trust those around her? Read to find out.
This is about Nikolai and Tori. The book is a love story and a Mob story.there are many twists and turns in this book to keep you hooked. It also is about murder and espionage. What more can you ask for in a Mafia story? When Tori's father was murdered, she was barely in her twenties. She went to go for a swim in the pool and found him floating, face down in a pool of blood. She had just been begging him to let him go get a job, or an apt. So she could Have some independence. Now, she will have to plan a funeral. Part of her fathers plan was to have someone to watch over her. In comes Nikolai.she has an instant attraction to him, but he has the same attraction to her. The book is well written, captures your attention right off the first page. I purchased this book because the author is a particular Favorite of mine. You need to purchase it also. A real BIG Winner!!
I'm usually fond of this author. However I'm finding as each new book comes out the typos are increasing rapidly and the storylines are weakening. Bit of advice get some beta readers on to review books prior to publishing. This is becoming common with another Russian romance author. And the typos are so bad it's actually affecting readability on what the author is actually trying to say. Beta readers can help with all these. Because storyline is so weak and so many errors I can not rate higher than a 2. How anyone can rate a five stars with these errors is beyond me.
Alina wanted nothing more than to be away from her father and his business. But when her father ends up shot to death and her falling into a pool of his blood she must fear for her life when the killer thinks she may have saw something. Suddenly whisked away with more tight security then she had before she sees a man she has met before. More shocked that he his the one to take over for her father and he will have to take care of her in return.
