Sometimes, I feel a little nostalgia creeping up on me and those are times that I reach back to one of the books that I enjoyed as a middle grader (This was in the pre-ebook and online shopping era, I nearly lived in the library at that time). Anyway, for this bout of nostalgia I picked the book Blood Sisters by Tais Teng (member of the Griezelgenootschap at that time (I was a big fan of their group)). this is the story about a young witch who is not yet in control of her powers. She is therefore forced to switch schools and ends up in a class full of magical creatures: werewolves, mummies, dwarves ... and vampires (you didn't see that one coming right? Especially since the title mentions blood). Long story short, vampire girl is more Count Dracula than Edward Cullen (thankfully) and mayhem ensues.
Turns out this book is actually the first in a series. I didn't know that back when I first read it. I would have devoured (werewolf style) this series back in the day. Well, I guess it is never too late to start, though I'm definitely not going to get it in the library this time. No, I will hide in the anonimity of online buying so my librarian doesn't find out I read books meant for 8 year-olds. And then I will write online reviews about it, out in the open for everyone to see...Well, I suppose that, since my librarian isn't one of my friends on GR, it will be like finding (without actually looking) a needle in a haystack.
PS. Just found out that this book is only available in Dutch. Seems kinda stupid now that I wrote this review in English...and this post scriptum...ow well, continuity rules I suppose.
