Rate this book
He’s forbidden. He’s tempting. He’s dangerous. Cyborgs are no longer mere combat machines and are preparing to integrate into society. If anyone finds out, they will terminate him. Natasha is intrigued by the challenge of helping Fury. As a woman recently separated from her cheating husband, she can’t help but notice his handsome features and muscular build. The more time she spends working with the rapidly-improving cyborg, the more he seems like a better - and sexier - man than her ex ever was. But Natasha’s ex won’t accept that their marriage is over. He’s not above resorting to threats and violence to get her back. Fury must find a way to protect Natasha and forge a future with her, even though his existence is illegal. 🧡 The Heroine – Natasha

Natasha serves as a rehabilitation specialist at a cyborg integration center, a facility designed to help sentient cyborgs reclaim fragments of their humanity after a controversial upgrade restored their memories. Her role places her at the intersection of ethical rehabilitation and emotional fallout, especially as many cyborgs were once soldiers coerced into a second life devoid of autonomy. Natasha’s personal life is unraveling—her marriage to John is strained, culminating in a betrayal that forces her to confront both emotional abandonment and moral ambiguity.

💪 The Hero – Fury

Fury is introduced as a volatile and high-risk cyborg slated for decommissioning. His arc is steeped in ethical tension: a rogue scientist, defying institutional collapse, rescues Fury and subjects him to further experimentation. Fury’s transformation from a controlled weapon to a sentient being raises compelling questions about identity, autonomy, and the consequences of unchecked scientific ambition.

🍷 The Storyline

After leaving her husband, Natasha returns to her childhood home, only to discover her late father had been harboring a cyborg—Fury—in a hidden basement lab. Her decision to protect Fury rather than report him reflects a shift from institutional loyalty to personal conviction. As she uncovers her father’s journals and enlists help from a colleague, Natasha’s relationship with Fury evolves from cautious alliance to emotional intimacy. The narrative explores themes of trust, healing, and the blurred lines between legality and morality.

🔎 Highlights

• Fury embodies the archetypal alpha male—possessive, assertive, and emotionally fixated on Natasha from the outset. While this dynamic may appeal to fans of dominant romantic leads, it also invites scrutiny regarding power imbalances and emotional pacing.
• The subplot involving Natasha’s ex-husband adds tension but leans into melodrama. His obsessive interference, though narratively effective, lacks psychological nuance and feels more like a plot device than a fully realized character arc.

⚠️ What Fell Flat

• The erotic content, while central to the romantic tension, occasionally overshadows character development and thematic depth. Readers seeking a more balanced blend of emotional resonance and plot progression may find the explicit scenes excessive.

🎧 Performance Matters

Michael Pauley delivers a competent solo narration, capturing the story’s multiple points of view with clarity. His vocal tone, however, remains relatively flat throughout, which may diminish emotional immersion during pivotal scenes. While his voice suits the genre’s gritty undertones, a more dynamic performance could have elevated the audiobook’s tension and intimacy.

Oh it ends up worse than my update. I kept waiting to see how they were going to integrat Fury into the system but instead we get a stupid plot, which is so far fetched that it is laughable, except I'm not laughing. Instead I'm irritated. So some that love Lisa Lace really don't like this series so I might try a different series.
60% update-
There is a disconnect in the way that this is written for me as it is third person and goes from omnipresent type to one of the two main character's POV. You are not always sure because Natasha will be saying or doing or feeling something one sentence and then "the redhead" or "the nurse" will be doing it the next moment. "The nurse" did this or that, and there is no one but Natasha so... is she thinking of herself in third person as "the nurse". It is really off putting. If it was obvious that it was Fury, but he is not there or in stasis so not possible. Then, once he learns her name, if it is him, which is not clear, is it that he is objectifying her? No really I think it is just bad writing here as it totally jars you from the story and is throughout. And then there is Fury, who is called by "The Cyborg" like he is the only one, and "The Soldier". Oh it is annoying and has a jarring affect each time.

The soon to be ex-hubby becomes worse and worse as time goes by and not in what he does only but what she remembers. I don't get why she wanted to go to counseling, why? "He takes advantage of all his friends, using all there secrets to his advantage...", he is a total drunk and she doesn't call the cops once to put a restraining order. Come on... he attacks her friend. He is such a 1 dimensional stalker, cheater, ass, he has no other personality. Why was she with him? It makes her a bit of a doormat idiot.

I guess Fury is the only one with an interesting personality as it grows and learns. Still he sees a pretty woman that's willing and takes what he wants. It is not romance, erotic, just sex, though pretty hot. All the same, his waking up is the only thing interesting in the story. And then the ending of I love you, really? why?

CYBORG FURY by Lisa Lace was a fascinating story that kept me rapt and needing to know what would happen next. I typically listen to my audio books as I drive, but this one I listened to when I was at home and could have been reading from my Kindle. I loved the danger, the emotional situations, the romance, and always the science fiction aspect that allows the author even more freedom to use her imagination as she builds her characters, and their abilities. Fury was complex, a warrior to be sure, who has been cybernetically enhanced, but still a man with a man's heart and a man's needs. Natasha, the daughter of the scientist who rescued Fury, sees the potential in him, and the humanity, and that he is a much better man than her ex-husband ever had been. Great story. I'm really loving this series! 4 stars

I just couldn't engage with this one no matter my love for cyborgs.

It might be long opening in the mind of neither the hero or the heroine. It might be the fact the the heroine is still married though unhappily at the start of the book.

I think I would have liked the book better it started later.

THIS IS ME BEING GENEROUS WITH 2 STARS because the story had a poor plot and character development. Very disjointed and superficial. The romance between the MCs was like a mathematic equation, there was heartwarming emotions, trust or real love except lust. I don't know how they got from being platonic human-cyborg to fucking on the basement floor within a few days...it was so ODD.

While I do love me a good, cyborg sexy time...this wasn't it.
Ok to read for the first time, but not wholesome. When the MCs declared they loved each other - I DIDN'T BUY IT. Not to mention, the story just ended so suddenly.

I have questions/comments :-
1. What happened to Fury being founded out by the Cyborg Security company? He was still illegally alive. The shit never hit the fan.
2. Was he ever going to reveal his past memories to Natasha? He seemed reluctant, and I found his desire to play vigilante rather selfish and strange...because there was no unfolding of the reasons WHY he decided he wanted to be a vigilante. Just because he found out he was once a cop?
3. There was no trust in the relationship...they didn't even share pillow talk after sex! And it was so fragile in the sense that Natasha was always watching her words around Fury in fear that he would go 'Fury'.
4. As much as I love possessive male leads, he was being too caveman about it without backing his actions. I mean...he didn't have the character to back it up, ya know? You need strings attached to emotionally claim someone.
5. Natasha didn't wasn't wholly responsible for easing him back into society - we didn't see it happening. Am I suppose to believe that having sex with him was how she 'healed' him? What a joke!

Natasha and Fury were STILL STRANGERS towards the end of the book. The only intimacy shared was their bodies. LOL. Not wholesome in the least. There were A LOT of loose ends.

Cyborg Fury: A Science Fiction Cyborg Romance (Burning Metal Book 2)
By: Lisa Lace
5 out of 5 stars

The story Cyborg Fury: A Science Fiction Cyborg Romance (Burning Metal Book 2) by Lisa Lace is science fiction book with plenty of romance. Natasha is a nurse at a cyborg rehabilitation center. She finds out that her father has one of the cyborgs he worked with in his basement. She is intrigued by the challenge or helping Fury to become ready to re-enter society. The only thing is that Natasha’s ex will not accept their marriage is over. Fury is a cyborg that is slowly finding out who he is. Now he must protect Natasha from her ex so that they can have a future together. How far is Natasha’s ex willing to go in order to get her back? The more important question is how far is Fury ready to go to protect what is his?

Another wonderful story. The second story in the Burning Metal series has an awesome storyline and the characters are first rate. Both Natasha and Fury are instantly likeable as Natasha has an ex that is just about stalking her so she needs someone to help her. Fury is trying to figure out who his is and dealing with the problems that go along when your very existence is illegal. Although he is largely the reason for their situation, Natasha’s father also comes across not just as a doting father, but also as a scientist who care for the cyborgs under his care and wants to make sure they are taken care of.

If you love science fiction with really hot romantic scenes, this is the book for you. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Natasha is carrying on a family tradition in medicine. Her father may create Cyborgs, but she is helping them rehab and re-enter civilian life. But when she walks in on her slimeball husband doing the dirty with a bar bunny, she realises that she is not so much heart broken but embarrassed. She returns to live with her father but soon her world is rocked again when he dies unexpectedly. But the biggest surprise in store is when she enters the basement and finds her dad's last project, an honest to god Cyborg in his basement.

Add in her revolting ex making attempts to get back together again, a sympathetic work colleague who may have a crush on her and her own very up-close-and-personal interactions with Fury and you have a very engaging tale.

Fury is quite disorientated when he first "wakes" up in the basement. He is used to Dr Daniels given him orders, but this female is unknown to him. But without further orders to follow, he'll go along with her plans for him until such times as he has enough intel to make a decision. But add in a cybernetic update which removes the blocks on his former human life memories and he gets swamped with more info than he can handle.

But one thing is for sure, Superior or not, human or not, Natasha is his to protect and he'll carry out those orders with or without her permission!

I loved finding out about Fury's previous life and how he Natasha had similar stories, minus the cybernetics! Their encounters are passionate and a bit kinky but Natasha also feels guilty as she is supposed to be in charge of him, not the otherway around!

3. Koniec unáhlený, otázky nezodpovedané, kyborg má narýchlo sfalšované doklady...takže to mu vystačí do konca života? Ako dlho vlastne bude asi žiť? Čo bude robiť?
4. Spomenul si na svoj predošlý život, čo ale ona podľa toho čo sme čítali, ešte nevie, lebo sa na seba vrhli len čo policajti odišli a ku všetkému si vyznali lásku, pričom sa vôbec vlastne nepoznajú, akurát ho ona občumovala a on si ju privlastnil ako "jeho"....
Kde je ešte ďalšia kapitola na uzavretie príbehu?

No, modrí mimozemšťania (ice barbarians) od Ruby Dixon boli teda omnoho lepšie napísaní a tam som fakt čakala len smut.

Natasha had a really bad day when she returns home to her husband and realises what a total and utter douchebag he really is. Returning home to her dad changes everything for her.  Her dad has done something naughty that could land him in trouble hahaha. But unfortunately he hasn't got to deal with the consequences and it leaves Natasha having to deal with it all. Somehow I don't think she is going to mind so much. Fury isn't that much of a chore :)
Fury a cyborg that has always had a bit of anger issues and was set to be terminated. But Natasha dad on his way out of being forced to do early retirement, he took Fury to help settle him. When he meets Natasha something inside him stirs to life that he doesn't understand completely. Just that she is his and he will protect her, especially against her ex husband.
Such a good read. Even though Fury didn't have normal social behaviour, how he is with Natasha is so lovely.  She isn't any push over but something about Fury wants her to do whatever he says. They don't have a normal relationship but it totally works for them.

Cyborg Fury by Lisa Lace
Natasha is a nurse working with cyborgs, helping them to a just to life outside of the military. Just to be normal people. She is having trouble with her husband Nick he owns a bar and works most nights, but one night she comes home a catches him in bed with another. She leaves that night and goes to stay at her dad house. Her dad is working on a cyborg and when he passes away Natasha will start to work with him. I found this book very amazing cause you think as a cyborg as a machine where they are part human. I enjoyed this book and have noticed there is a book one and three. I will have to read them because I love Lisa Lace’s writing. I received an ARC and have voluntarily left a review. This is my honest opinion.

As she starts working with him, they have a sizzling hot encounter that neither can forget. Soon to be exhusbands, former Cyborg Central corrupt Dr.'s, unlocked memories, and burgeoning possessive feelings all conspire to work against Fury & Natasha as they struggle their way through to a HEA. He was hidden by his creator when all the Cyborgs were set free. That was illegal. But they wanted to destroy him and he wanted to save him and fix him. Now he is dead and his daughter has to deal with the Cyborg in her basement named Fury. I have enjoyed this book and like the series a lot. This author has created a great series with lots of potential and I hope she has plans for more in the series.
This book also had a novella from her TerraMates Series which I also liked a lot I want to read more of it.

Ohhhhhh....I LIKED Fury! He's a cyborg that knows what he wants and will take it to get it. Natasha was a bit indecisive but under her circumstances you really can't blame a girl. I wish we could of had a bit more to their story but I'm satisfied with the way it ended.

A cyborg human and a nurse walk into a bar... naw it doesn't start like that. A cyborg human is still under wraps of the cyborg sector that was shut down unknown to them. What will become of him when he wakes up and his life is changed forever.

Fury aka FY-485 is a cyborg human still under old programming and in sleeping mode right under the old part of Cyborg Sector that is now closed. Unknown to anyone, but a scientist Neil. Who wants to help him get back into society like all the other cyborgs who successfully went back out as civilians. Will he be able to help him in time?

Natasha Daniels is a nurse to the now turned out cyborgs going back into society as civilians. She wants to help them all but can only do so much. When she discovers her no good husband doing the unthinkable. She has had it. Going back home may have been a good idea in the beginning. But now she has to deal with a very big handsome secret in her father's basement. What will she do?

Cyborg Sector was being shut down. Dr. Neil Daniels’ career would be over. The government no longer wanted to change people into super-soldiers. Neil was sneaking back into the dark, empty building. His pass card still worked, so he had the access he needed. He had an unstable, potentially violent cyborg nicknamed Fury that was slated for destruction long before. But he had wanted to save it if he could. He now woke it up from the sleep state.

Natasha Daniels worked at the Cyborg Rehabilitation Center which helped cyborgs transition back into society with a software upgrade. After a long day at work, she arrived home to a dark house. She went inside and heard voices in her bedroom. She found her husband with one of the women from his bar. So she packed and left to move back with her retired father.

Her father had told her about Fury when she moved in. He felt he could trust her to understand. She didn’t like it but she let it go. Until the day her father didn’t come down for breakfast. He has passed away peacefully in the night. Now she either had to call the Cyborg group to take Fury away or continue her father’s work to uphold his reputation. What would this mean for Fury? Could she keep him under control on her own? And what if the authorities found out that the dangerous cyborg had been stolen and was beginning to get his memories back?

I couldn't put this novel down. It was intriguing, interesting, full of suspense. Not only was the threat of Fury erupting into violence always there, but Nick himself was a very real danger to Natasha. The reader didn’t know where the threat would be coming from! I recommend this book as a fast-paced, suspenseful read. I own a copy of this book and my comments reflect my honest opinion.

Am I The Only One Who Rooted for John?

Cyborg Fury is the second book in the Burning Metal series and I think it's going to surpass the Terra Mates series because this book is the best yet!

Natasha's is a nurse married to degenerate bar owner, when she catches him with his pants down she hightails it to her widowed father’s house and wouldn’t you know it, her bad luck continues, when first she finds out dear old Dad is harboring a cyborg destined for the scrap heap because of anger management issues and then adding insult to injury Pops has the nerve to up and die leaving Natasha in charge of the irritable cyborg.

Desperate for help Natasha sneakily enlist the help of her co-worker John, out of all of the characters in this book I fell in love with John the most! He’s attracted to Natasha, but even when she shoots him down he not only helps her with her cyborg issues, he comes to her defense when her erstwhile hubby comes a knocking, John is really a stand-up guy and I hope he gets his own story told!

Lisa Lace’s stories are lightweight enjoyable listens with lots of heat added, her writing just keeps getting better and better.

Sigh… what can I say about the narrator Michael Pauley, at this point I’ve listened to several books he has narrated and sometimes he does a four star job and other times a three star job, this one is 3.5, sometimes when he’s narrating his voice sounds robotic and it’s strange to me, because it’s only when he reading the narrative part, when he’s voicing the character’s words he always does an awesome job. He has the potential to be much better and I know he will find his stride.

This audiobook was gifted to me exchange for an unbiased review!

Woooooo this author has some scrumptious writings. Absolutely intrigued by this series. Most likely because it could possibly be true. Can you imagine Dr. Frankenstein of the 21st Century building Hunky Cyborgs... Yumm... When the cyborgs became public knowledge there was no use for the continuation of the Cyborg Sector Project, consequently all the scientists were let go with severance pay. One scientists Dr. Neil Daniels was devastated because he put his whole life into this, what was he going to do retire and all his work is all destroyed ? He sure made a fool of them.
Natasha Daniels is a nurse, who wanted more so when she was offered to work for
The Cyborg Rehabilitation Center, she jumped at the chance, she really loved her job. Natasha was having a hard time right now because her marriage seems to have slow down to a stop her husband wasn't the same anymore for her or to her, they didn't even do anything as a couple. One Night she came home and there he was with another woman, was smiling like he had it planned, not having anything to do with it she packed her bags left going to her dad's house, Dr. Neil Daniels and that's when she met FY-485 Fury!!! OMG what did her dad do?  A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

An exciting Cyborg adventure!!

The Cyborg Sector has been shut down. Scientists and workers have given early retirement. Dr. Neil Daniel made his career and reputation here, and was not going to walk out empty-handed. No more cameras or security guards – and his pass card still gained him access. In the underground lab he went to the room labeled Destruction. Cyborgs designated as unfit were destroyed on a periodic basis. Fury was one he refused to give up on – and now he was taking the Cyborg with him along with some additional equipment – so his research could continue.

Natasha Daniels is working at the Cyborg Rehabilitation Center. Integration into society was not easy for someone programmed to be a super soldier and then had an upgrade allow him to become self-aware and remember his previous life. She was working long hours lately because her marriage to Nick had hit a rocky period. Finding him their bed with another woman, she moves in with her dad and quickly realizes he has a Cyborg in his basement!! A short time later when he passes away in his sleep – suddenly SHE has a Cyborg!

As Natasha determines whether Fury is “safe”, and she rehabilitates him – her ex continues to cause problems and the heat rises between these two. Enjoyable story – was distracted by the heroine alternately called by her name and then “the nurse” – felt like there was another character occasionally.
