The discovery of an ancient race of sentient beings could be connected to a missing girl. But how?
The search for Lauren continues, and after their strange encounter with a Prime being, Lance and Tony's investigations lead to a similar missing person's case which involved strange flashing lights that also appeared before her disappearance. Going through the research of his father, Professor Black, Lance learns more about the Primes, a secret race of beings that lived before humans. But this only leads to more questions about why Lauren went missing.
In the second book of this supernatural suspense thriller, The mystery deepens and the danger escalates as Lance and Tony race to unravel the connections between the unusual lights flashing out of nowhere, the Primes and what happened to Lauren.
So I am enjoying the story that this series is telling but it is a little frustrating with how short these books are. I was contacted by the author to give my free and honest review of this series and I honestly think that if the the first two books were combined and fleshed out a little more then it would strengthen this series as a whole.
This book, again, expanded on the plot and left room for the third book to come in, but that's pretty much all it did. Functionally, these books are perfect. The purpose of writing this book was met: There was another mystery introduced and the plot was moved along. However, I still feel no emotional attachment to the characters, and I still know little to nothing about them.
Can we also talk about how our main character's name is Lance Bass and the school principal's name is Mr.Auschwitz? Not only is the second name slightly insensitive, neither name is very original.
Overall, this book was interesting, and the plot did move along nicely. I'm excited to see what the third book brings. However, I'm still waiting to form that attachment to the characters, and I'm still wishing the flow of this book was a little more natural.
I am very glad to have a name to put with these beings. Lance and Tony make a good team. I am very happy this isn't another series about faeries. I am unsure of whether these beings are good or evil. One thing's for sure: if Chryssa and Matthew are an indication they're pretty tough. I was contacted by the author for an honest review.
A Winged Pair adds another intriguing piece of the puzzle that is this series of short stories. Well written and easy to read, JD tells a story that keeps you hooked.
Still curious as to what's going on but for me I'm having a hard time connecting to the characters. They just sound awkward at times and it kind of kills the story for me. The plot thickens so to speak with some new information discovered in this episode.
Winged Pair was given to me in exchange for an honest review I feel the dialogue is a little short at times. And the characters a little underdeveloped. I'm not sure if I care for Lance' s oogling the teenage girls since he is what like 20 something(Jail bait) . You do get drawn into the story trying to see what will happens next if they find the prime and how it will connect to the last book. I still have a hard time bonding to either of these men. Tony who is Lauren 's boyfriend is reliving school teacher crushes, and leering Lance with high school cheerleaders. Not to mention Lance comes across as the stereotypical strong but not overly intelligent, with Tony as puny but smart. I hope in the next book to see a bit more character development and find out how Lauren ties into the prime's statement. The story plot is still interesting though I agree with other reviews that a little more detail and visual wording would have made the novella more interesting. And what does the title allude to?
Great. Alot better than part one and it's draws you in better. But once again, it was too short, In this series, it really no need for it to be a series, but it great for breaking down each time.
Winged Pair was given to me in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in The Prime Insurgency series. It picks up almost directly after the first book ends, and is another quick read, being less than 50 pages in length. It develops the story that began in the first book, and gives it more body. It seems as though each book is making the plot deeper and more interesting, as this book expands the role of the Primes further. I would recommend this book for anyone that is into aliens, higher evolved beings, and anyone who wants to think “are we the highest beings on the planet.” I look forward to the third book in the series, Third Charmed, and cannot wait to see the plot develop further.
The start is much smoother than the start of the last book, making me believe I was right about the start of that one. In this book we fall a little deeper into the mystery of what happened to Lauren. The aliens are not aliens but more possessing spirits, which would have interesting ramifications for the ancient Japanese kami tales if they get referenced later. Yet after first learning this we are still no closer to finding her it seems.
The writing is smooth and fast paced, giving description but not dwelling on it. I feel readers of all ages would be interested in this and I look forward to reading the next to find out what happens.
I forgot to time myself on how long it took to read this, but it moved quickly. I am intrigued by the fact that the Professor is also missing. Since the title of the next book is "Third Charmed" I can hope that this point is where the precedent for not so great luck turns a bit, since books one and two have set a bit of a precedent.
