A dark espionage thriller from Hugo-award-nominated science fiction writer Dominic Green. "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord - and what are we, if not agents of the Lord?" Meet Elder Schaeffer. He believes demons walk the Earth in human form. He also believes that, once he is certain he has found a demon, it is his to kill. Meet the Church of Christ Astronaut. Your computer contains chips designed by people who work for them. They've existed since the nineteen fifties, they own technical companies all around the world, and the CIA has been known to get them to do its dirty work. Meet Alison Darko. She's just killed one of Schaeffer's parishioners and become indebted to the Church of Christ Astronaut, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot...
Gives you unhealthy coping mechanisms and a dark sense of humour. I can only assume something came very close to killing Mr. Green! From laugh out loud snorting Costa's finest to thrilling Bond/Bourne-esque moments with some twisted theology thrown in for good measure. I loved it. Fans of Brookmyer will get it immediately as will lovers of dark comedy and thrillers. Looking forward to episode 2 and the rest of the series that must surely be born out of this
