From Hollywood veteran and hotel insider Lottie Green comes a delicious and hilarious novel of romance, culinary intrigue, and mistaken identity in the chaos of a hotel kitchen.

Thirty-five-year-old Connor Montgomery has hidden herself away in the kitchen of the Imperial Arms Hotel, toiling away in obscurity as an Executive Chef. Painfully shy, Conner has dreams of escaping from her overbearing boss, Wilhelmina Tate, and finally striking out on her own. Her chance comes when she gets a once-in-a-lifetime plum assignment: preparing the menu for THE social event of the year, an extravagant gala hosted by wealthy and handsome hotel mogul Philip Garrity. But there's a problem: Phillip is convinced that renowned chef Conner Montgomery is a reclusive old man. As a result, Conner is quickly tangled in a madcap escapade in mistaken identity to get what she thinks she wants.

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in a hotel suite at the Sonesta Hotel…okay, not really. It was in a hospital just outside Boston, but my dad was the general manager at the Sonesta and so began my life of residing in hotels. I’m scarred for life. My idea of camping is a hotel without room service.

By the time, I was 16 I had lived in over 20 different places. This wanderlust left me no choice but to become a writer.

After receiving my M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon University, I started a career in Hollywood. There I attended endless meetings with studios, worked as a producer’s and actor’s assistant, crashed many a party or two and had countless adventures attempting to further my career. It was exhilarating, mind-blowing, enlightening, devastating, and…exhausting.

I still write for TV and film, but now I spend my time writing books, and yes…before you ask, I do…I do write about everyone I know.

My two new novels, "Let Down Your Hair," and "Once Upon a Thyme" are fun and romantic "chick lit" fiction that explore some of my favorite topics: food, music, and love. I hope you love reading them as much as I loved writing them!

I liked Once Upon a Thyme. I read it in one sitting. I loved the guessing game Conner does with dishes that her mother taught her to do. I do the same thing with my kids and smoothies...we're not super refined to be able to do it with main dishes, though.

What I was a bit lost on were the descriptions. Aside from drag queen costumes, there weren't many. so I made up my own setting. Maybe this was intended...and it'd be helpful for a movie since there isn't much to have to line the setting up with...but I would have appreciated more here.

The characters seemed to be a bit single sided, too. People are much more complex than initial labels. But the depth just wasn't there. That said, I did like the story line. It was a fun read and renewed my desire to keep up on having my kids guess smoothie ingredients.
