“Who’s coming?” “FBI. Military. Probably CIA. Local PD. The Bureau has the Intel, so they’ll be running it.’

When an author has the ability to transfer intensive research into a subject planned for a novel and then transform that historic information into a thrilling and eloquently written work, it is a feat of passion for writing and for the topic about which the book is conceived. For those who have had the distinct pleasure of reading David-Michael Harding's recreation of WW II in HOW ANGELS DIE, then his recreation of American history from 1775 to 1821 and the manner in which America destroyed the Native Americans in order to take over the land being wrestled from British colonization will not come as surprise. Now he leaves history behind to place us in the very contemporary setting of today – computers, Internet, social media, hacking etc. But he never completely leaves history behind. He just resurrects it for his own ideas.

Some book series are individually stand alones, but David-Michael’s compelling tale should indeed be read in sequence – that is how powerful the story grows. A quick review of Book 1 - ‘Clayton Rand is the most talented computer forensic designer on the planet. He thinks. The Fortune 500 and the government line up for his protective firewalls. He’s on top of the world and untouchable until a local scandal ignites a passion for justice in him that has the potential to rage out of control. He’ll use his considerable technical skill to punish corrupt politicos and business leaders who weather their screaming headlines and come out unscathed. No longer. But soon computer manipulation isn’t enough. The New Illuminati relates a unique group of friends who pool their varied talents to right the injustices parlayed by the powerful. Digital attacks mushroom into physical assaults as a reluctant District Attorney, unsure whether to arrest the group or join them, teams with the FBI and the chase is on! Copycats spring up as the nation’s weariness of unchecked and unpunished corruption surfaces and spills blood on the corridors of power. While the guilty scramble from the line of fire, The New Illuminati wrestle with their newfound power.’

So, moving into Book 2, ‘The pursuit of The New Illuminati is feverish, but Clayton Rand's creation is outpacing the FBI and the local District Attorney. When the CIA start playing puppet master under the guise of the military, it could mean the jig is up. But Clayton has an ace up his sleeve he's yet to play. Confidence runs high on each side of the chase as the stakes get ratcheted up and corrupt newsmakers get taken down. A mistake rattles everyone and the wheels start to come off the both the investigation and the Illuminati. A reluctant District Attorney, unsure whether to arrest the group or join them, teams with the FBI and the chase is on! Copycats spring up as the nation's weariness of unpunished corruption surfaces and spills blood in the corridors of power. Lovers balance a run, both for cover and for each other, as the Illuminati monster assumes a life of its own and begins to turn on Clayton's Dr. Frankenstein, leaving no one safe and no place to hide.’

With a well crafter denouement and climax David-Michael steps out of past history into current history and weaves another tale of his particular brand of thrill.

Return to Power: The New Illuminati
A reader definitely must read “The New Illuminati” first, in order to understand this second book, which is just as involved and intriguing as the first book. The main active characters in this book are Clayton Rand, the talented and experienced computer programmer and Sam, the American-Italian strongman trained by the US military to be a specialized killer as part of the Rangers, “blackbird.”. The other main actor is Lt. Karen Auburn, the JAG military woman who met and fell in love with Sam. The other two young men from the first story are there as minor characters

Return to Power, Part 2 of The New Illuminati, chronicles the climax of this group of friends who had pooled their varied talents to right the injustices parlayed by the powerful. Copycats spring up and it reaches the point that law enforcement, both civil and military, must find the instigators of these actions as people are getting hurt. It is almost like a hysteria as people are so weary of unpunished corruption. The local reluctant District Attorney of Tampa, Florida teams up with teams of the FBI as the original attacks of the Illuminati started in Tampa. Copycats spring up as the nation's weariness of unpunished corruption surfaces and spill blood in the corridors of power.
Sam has not been active after his original attacks and Karen learns that the military and civil law enforcement are specifically after Sam because his type of attacks is so specific. She drives to Tampa, finds him, warns him that he must flee, they make love, and he goes to the local Mafia who hides him for a few days and then arranges for him to remain hidden and taken to the mountains of Italy where his family came from and still live. It takes more than two months for Sam reach his destination by this secret, clandestine Mafia chain of command.
During this time there is an extremely young woman who is determined to rise through the ranks of the military that she can, using her aggressiveness and erotic sex to help her on her way. After Karen warned Sam, knowing that it would be discovered that she and Sam knew each other, she told her boss of their relationship, but she did not tell him that she had just seen Sam and warned him. Thus woman realizes this because Karen is pregnant as a result of that short meeting with Sam and goes after her and anyone helping Karen. A new young man, also an excellent computer tech is able to trace the original computer actions by Clayton Rand. The balance of the book is finalizing the lives of these different players and the hidden claws of the military at work, which are unsuspected.
I recommend this book based on its actions and mysteries and I received a complimentary e-book for an honest review.

Wow! I just finished this book and really enjoyed it. Just like part 1, it's riveting and I couldn't put it down! I always love how this author develops the characters. You will want to keep on reading to find out what happens! There are even settings in Italy, my all time favorite place to visit:-). Great story, will there be more?

Well-developed characters with a great story. The story is right out of today's headlines with so many twists, it makes it a pleasure to read. The last 100 pages, I couldn't put the book down. A fantastic read with a very unexpected, but well thought out ending. "Bravo!" As always, a highly recommended read!

Return to Power, Part 2 of The New Illuminati is even better than the first. Return to power follows a group of friends who pool their varied talents to right the injustices parlayed by the powerful. This book is about exactly what is happening with our corrupt polical system today.

I won’t play the spoiler, but this author continues the great story line from the first book and somehow managed to season it with just enough international flair to jack up the interest even more. I REALLY enjoyed this installment & look forward to more! All thumbs up – all bright stars!
