In a dystopian future, an assassin must either choose to fulfill a final contract, or keep the love of her life alive.
Yearning for a normal life, assassin Karmen-Marie has had enough. Enough of surviving contracted hits, and enough of the post-apocalyptic world. Forced to take one last job, Karma sets out across the frozen landscape of Earth.
Rea MacBain's job is to ensure the safety of Earth's precious few water purification plants. He believes his abusive past must stay buried under the snow that encases his domain.
A single bullet will send Karma and Rea in a direction they’d never expected. Ice cold assassin's blood drives the woman sent to kill him, yet it ignites the fire which thaws Rea's heart.
C.M. Moore is a retired soldier and a romantic at heart. After being blown up in Afghanistan and receiving a purple heart, he began writing with his wife. Connor’s first book 1:05 a.m. (An Ice Era Chronicle) is a mixture of love, sex, and action. If you want to learn more about the Chronicles... visit www.authorcmmoore.com
It is 11-years since the Ice Years have begun & the earth is primarily covered in ice because of a meteor impact. Most of the people left on earth either live at the equator or underground up north. Karma has fled her life as an assassin & lives where she believe no one will find her. A fellow assassin Fletcher finds her & blackmails her into doing one last job. She is to go to a water base & kill someone there named Mac. When she arrives at the base, she doesn't know what Mac looks like so she has to do recon before she can pinpoint her target. For some reason, she has this feeling that things at the base feel familiar. Karma is caught & held for breaking into the base & attempting to kill their leader Mac/Rae. While being held she is given a drug that erases her memory. When Rae discovers her memory has been erased, he finds out she knows him. They were young teenage lovers years ago. Karma believes they are still lovers but Rae doesn't trust her because she try to kill him. Eventually, they are unable to resist one another. Karma finally sees a picture of her dead stepbrother & all her memories come flooding back to her. She leaves the base to go after Fletcher & Rae is torn apart that she has left again. Karma makes her way back to the base & tries to make Rae understand that she wants to be there with him but Rae has doubts. Will Rae be able to trust Karma again? Will Karma be willing to stay? Do Karma & Rae have a future together?
This dystopian debut by C.M. Moore is about a second chance love between two adults who are both damaged from their pasts. Learning to trust how they feel for one another doesn't come easy. The story is imaginative, full of surprises & well written. I look forward to reading more of the Ice Era Chronicles. This book is intended for mature readers.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Read Copy of this book.
OK, so where to start...first, if you had asked me a year ago what my favorite genre was when I read a book, this one, dystopian/sci fi, would have been at the bottom of my list. But, since my retirement from the full time work force, I read, a lot, therefore I've opened my mind to new and different experiences, especially in my books and these authors who are doing these mash ups that include the romance are winning my heart.
1:05 a.m. is intriguing and heart-wrenching and sweeps us up into the lives of Rea and Karma as they navigate a dangerous world in chaos, after the planet is struck by a meteor that plunges us into another ice age. Childhood friends/lovers, ripped apart, their lives travel very different paths of survival, only to converge again over a decade later.
I loved how the author builds this story, it's got it all... Danger and deceit... Lies and betrayal... Action and suspense... Heartbreak and forgiveness... and a second chance at something "romantical"
I found the MCs believable and I loved the cast of side characters and how they all contributed to the well thought out plot line of the story. The Chronicle #1 is obviously telling us there is more to this story, but it can certainly be read as a standalone. I'm hoping C.M. Moore has more for us, I'm certainly up for the adventure. Outstanding debut.
Full of action and some seriously steamy scenes, 1:05 A.M. is a nice twist on the post-apocalyptic and dystopian types of books. Instead of earthquakes or fire burning up the Earth, it's covered in ice. This is a new ice age for the planet and let's just say things have changed. Most people are now living underground and clean water is an issue. Mac/Rea is our hero who seems kind of like a grouchy guy who hasn't gotten enough you know what. Well...that's actually quite correct too. When his ex shows up trying to kill him, everything spins out of control. Karma is a pretty awesome chick. Her dad taught her how to kill people and she is good at it. She has no idea what she's in for when she takes this one job. The man she runs into, who happens to be her target, is a big part of her past. I so like the addition of the nerdy sidekick, Gears. That guy does not get enough credit in my eyes. It was a great read!
I rarely give 4 stars, especially for a first book, but this one deserves it. 1:05 a.m. is the first book by C.M. Moore so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was an amazingly complex dystopian thriller storyline, especially for a debut novel. This is a standalone but there is a soft cliffhanger for possible future books. Warning: There is a lot of violence and death. Hot and Steamy sex so definitely 18+.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all of that info here. The author did a good job of setting the stage for the new world and how an Ice Age happened. The characters are multi-dimensional and well written with vivid imagery of both the character descriptions as well as the technology and what it can do. There are plenty of twists and turns and surprises to keep you reading. As usual not everything, or everyone, are as they appear. Overall it is a fantastic story and worth taking some time to read.
1:05 a. m. is the debut novel and the start of a new series (An Ice Era Chronicle #1) by C. M. Moore. I think this author did a very good job of writing his first book. The story is set in a “post-apocalyptic world” and is set in an “ice age”. This is Karmen-Marie (Karma) and Rea MacBain’s story. I will let you read the synopsis that the author has provided for you since I feel that the author almost always does a better job than what I can do.
So when I was asked if I would review 1:05 a. m. my first thought was I don’t like Dystopian books. But, then I remembered that I had reviewed another book that was of the Dystopian genre and that I had really enjoyed that book so I thought I should review 1:05 a. m. as well and I am very glad that I did. I really did enjoy reading this book too. It was a very good story filled with action, suspense, romance and twists. I will definitely be on the lookout for Book #2 and I won’t be shying away from the Dystopian genre.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I give 1:05 a. m. 4.5 Stars
1:05 a.m. is the debut novel for C.M. Moore. It’s a 2nd chance romance set in what becomes the former Americas during an Ice Age induced by a meteor hit. The survivors are left to do whatever it takes to exist, to create a new world for themselves, some in underground bases to protect themselves from the bitter cold, others near the equator where it’s a bit warmer but very populated. It is hard life, one born from necessity and loyalty. Choices must be made for the good of the people and not always for the good of oneself.
Loyalty and trust are not earned lightly in this frozen world, and Rea McBain must search deep into his soul to make the right choices for his base, his people, and himself. Above all, he needs to ensure he isn’t broken beyond repair again by the betrayal and loss of his only love, Karma. I really must say that at first glance, this was not a title that intrigued me but after seeing some of the promotional posts on social media for this book an heard from others about how good it was, I decided to leave my comfort zone and take a chance on a new author and a dystopian read. I was so pleasantly surprised by the amazing story behind the title. I absolutely fell in love with the main characters, Rea and Karma, as well as the supporting cast.
First and foremost, this is a romance where the characters have been torn apart at a young age and through a twist of fate, after many tough and hardened years, they are brought back together. The circumstances surrounding their existence elicits drama, action, and suspense. The author creates many questions in your mind leaving you to wonder about the motives of many characters and second-guess who you can trust. Even the star-crossed lovers are left questioning the truth of their relationship and where the future may take them. They had a definite sensory connection between the two of them that was quite apparent when they were anywhere near each other and especially when they gave into their desires. Sexual tension and release keeps you turning the pages of this book if nothing else does. The sex scenes in this book will make you melt. Rea and Karma care so deeply for each other that they can’t help but find themselves drawn together over and over again. They aren’t just two people finding release with each other. They are two people, bearing their soul to each other, totally trusting the other and showing their absolute love for one another – something they fight against but to no avail.
It didn’t take me very long to be riveted to this story and I was so pleased to read a romance with some very different elements and levels of intrigue. I totally recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good romance with a little suspense and action on the side. All of the rest that came with this book was absolute icing on the cake for me. I am totally pleased that I took a chance on this new author – they blew me away and I look forward to more from them.

Since it´s really nearly 1 am when I write this review, I am only able to sum up my main impressions from the book. Considering this is the first book of this author, it is a very solid post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller with fair contribution of romance, suspense and drama. It is very expressive, with dark scenes full of violence, and considering the sexual content it is definitely recommended for adult readers. The story is full of surprises, twists and turns, and the elements of mystery ensure you can only guess where the truth lies and what the true motives are. Not everyone is the person they appear to be and that keeps the tension while reading. I very much liked the characters. They are complex, with well-defined personalities and real feel. Rea must face hard decisions and it takes some amount of effort to make the right choice, not looking only at himself. He is maybe a bit rough around the edges, but the circumstances made him a tough guy. Karma is a kickass heroine, strong, and talented assassin, hiding more in her soul than she lets out. They make an equally powerful and balanced couple, their lives making it hard to find a way to each other and give the second chance, but they eventually figure out a way. The story is quite fast-paced, the world built up in detail. I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by the author.
C.M. Moore has written a very well imagined debut novel. 1:05 a.m. is a post-apocalyptic novel, with everything that that implies. Karma is an assassin who is taking one last job. Rea ensures that the water purification stations stay secure. As it turns out, Karma and Rea have past with one another. The only question is can their lives work together, or is freedom more important?
There is a lot of admire in this debut novel. Mr. Moore has created a world that is quite believable and inhabited it with some great characters. I also liked that the narrative was a little unreliable and there was a lot of intrigue. Both Rea and Karma are developed characters and I liked what they bring out of each other when they are together. The secondary characters are also well developed and I'm quite interested in learning more about this world.
My quibbles are small; some of the writing is a little rough and I thought one of the sex scenes was a some dubious consent issues. Nonetheless, this is a strong debut novel and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
NB: I was given a copy of the book from the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
Very entertaining some pretty explicit sex scenes, story keeps you involved and wondering what happens next plenty of action looking forward to the next one
1:05 a.m. is a second chance romance which takes place in a dystopian future. This is Book 1 of the Ice Era Chronicle Series by C.M. Moore. Filled with plenty of drama, action, suspense, romance and sex, it is a very nice start to a brand new series that has many twists and turns as the reunited couple question not only the actions and motives of each other but of every other person within their environment, as well. Well-defined world and characters, original and intriguing storyline, and plenty of surprises that will keep you turning those pages...way to go Mr. Moore.

This was a different kind of read for me but I enjoyed it none the less. To live underground and to survive in a new kind if world that was hit by a meteor and destroyed mist of the world? She was sent to kill him but something happened to change that. Rea and Karma never mussed a beat after so many years apart. They are brought together again to survive in a world without but with make do. Science and invention play a part in the desolate world. C.M. your writing flows from character to character point of view. A must read for the dystopian kind of reader with romance thrown in. Not all dystopian has the hope like this one but it has sex like some. ***Reviewed for Sweet and Spicy Reads, ARC provided in return for honest Review***
I took a chance on this book because it is not in a group I read ! He is a new Author and I found I really liked it . This is a story of a world that has gone back to an ice age one and people have to learn all over how to survive. It is also the story between Rea McBain and Karmen-Marie and what they have to do so that others might live. What happens when Karmen tries to kill Rea? Will they survive in this cold bleak new world? I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I didn't realize it was an ARC but I am glad I read it. An excellent read! It had romance, adventure, suspense! Once I started, I couldn't put it down until I was finished!
I got this book as a recommendation from a friend of mine. I really liked it. I liked the dialogue a lot. It reads really well. Some authors can’t hold a conversation between characters. C.P Moore is great at it. Also the story was really great, I enjoyed it. The characters were awesome, Gears is my favorite character I think. The romance was really sweet and felt genuine like they actually liked each other. Im gonna order the next 2 at the same time.

This author is really trying. Honestly, she C.M. gets better with some of the other books. This first one has a solid plot and it's a decent story, but the writing needs some work. Still, it is an adventure and every had to start somewhere.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is a debut for CM Moore so I was not sure what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. The plot was well thought out and while fairly complex, was well described and not confusing. The characters were also well developed and were engaging, I really wanted to know what was going on. The book has a soft cliffhanger, enough that this could be a standalone but leaves you curious what may happen in the future. I do hope that CM Moore continues this series, I very much would like to read more of his writing.
I received an Advance Reader eCopy of this book from the author. I didn't realize it was an ARC at the time I started reading it since it was at the top of my READ NEXT pile; but I am glad I was given it! An excellent novel! It had romance, adventure, suspense! Once I started, I couldn't put it down until I was finished! (I received it 11/05/16 and read straight through then told my co-workers to get a copy! Oops, not out until NOV10th!)
I enjoyed looking into the future! My thoughts about the sex parts...could have been less descriptive for me. My opinion. I understand the need to bring the character's history into the story. That is what I like. Back and forth - memories brought forth to understand the "whys".
