Promise Lodge #3

Weddings at Promise Lodge

Rate this book
Founded by the three Bender sisters, the Amish community of Promise Lodge is thriving—and growing. In fact, residents are thrilled to welcome a charismatic new arrival—one who may not just strengthen their faith, but put it to the test . . .

When Christine Bender meets widowed Bishop Monroe Burkholder, it’s love at first sight. But Preacher Amos finds him too good to be true, and is determined to find out what’s behind his sudden, unannounced arrival. Still, the colony needs a new bishop, and everyone is excited to have a younger, more progressive leader. As for Christine, Monroe returns her affection, but her bubble is soon burst with the arrival of a young woman half his age . . .

Leola Duff claims Monroe “ruined” her and she now intends to make an honest man of him. But throughout the process of discovering the truth, Christine never doubts that Monroe is the fine man she believes him to be—and never wavers in her faith that all will work out as it should. And when Monroe is forced to confess the truth before the entire congregation, he can only pray that open hearts and minds will prevail, allowing him a future at Promise Lodge—with Christine . . .

Drawing upon her experiences in Jamesport, the largest Old Order Amish community west of the Mississippi, longtime Missourian Charlotte Hubbard (a.k.a. Naomi King) writes of simpler times and a faith-based lifestyle in her new Seasons of the Heart series. Like her heroine, Miriam Lantz, Charlotte considers it her personal mission to feed people—to share hearth and home. Faith and family, farming and food preservation are hallmarks of her lifestyle, and the foundation of her earlier Angels of Mercy series. She’s a deacon, a dedicated church musician and choir member, and when she’s not writing, she loves to try new recipes, crochet, and sew. Charlotte now lives in Minnesota with her husband and their border collie.

Weddings at Promise Lodge is book number 3 in the Promise Lodge series. Even though I haven't read the other 2 books in the series I had no problem following along and picking up the story. This is one of my favorite Amish authors, Charlotte Hubbard. She writes books that are fun, entertaining and full of understanding compassion.I look forward to reading many more books by her.

WEDDINGS AT PROMISE LODGE is a story of weddings as implied in the title. Readers will be glad to see how some of the troubles and trials would work out. What is Monroe's secret from the past that he's hiding? Will the preachers at the new community find out? And what about Truman and the young lady he is overly friendly with? There are some continuing stories too, from previous series with the story of baby David,,, his mama, and another young man... I can't wait to see what will happen in the next book in this series!

Ms. Hubbard is a wonderful Amish author with a hale and hearty imagination and the abilities to write about a community with many residents and yet without confusing the reader with who is who. There is also a heaping helping of romance in this story with lots of kisses and sexy comments, for readers who like their romance hot.

I enjoyed reading WEDDINGS AT PROMISE LODGE. I received a copy of the book from the author. All opinions are my own.

Ok I loved this book, and have my first and last months rent ready plus the deposit, and if only it wasn’t a fictional place, I’d move in tomorrow.
The new Bishop is about to be put to a test, if you remember he arrived suddenly just before Christmas, but has been accepted into this Community, and he arrived at just the right time. There are now sparks flying between him and Christine, and you will soon be rooting for these two. Of course, life is not always smooth sailing, and when a young woman arrives claiming that Monroe has to marry her as he ruined her, that sure gets every ones attention.
Then there is Rosetta, the older sister, and Truman, a Mennonite, they seem to love each other, but have different churches, and can they choose one, or will can they be accepted for living separate church lives, not under normal circumstances, but we hope for the best.
There are some new romances here, and some that are just not meant to be, despite one of the party wanting it, and we get to attend a few weddings.
The author has included some yummy recipes at the end of this book, mostly those that you will be drooling about while reading this story, and they do a lot of eating of wonderfully described food. Now I want more answers and more stories from Promise Lodge, I love this place.
I received this book from the Author and Goddess Fish Promotions, and was not required to give a positive review.

This novel continues the story of the Bender sisters. A troubled young woman shows up at the lodge, claiming that the new bishop is going to marry her. This is a surprise to everyone, but especially to Christine, since she and the bishop have become close. Preacher Amos seems to have undergone a personality change and has become judgmental and harsh in his treatment of the bishop and the new arrival. The story is an interesting one, with problems and tragedies as well as good things and blessings occurring to the people in the community.

Another fabulous read by one of my fave authors Charlotte Hubbard.
I loved going back to Promise Lodge to see what my old friends were up to!!
I had a few rough get gos and a few nice surprises as well.
I loved how the author brings new people in to stir up a hornets nest fo keep our friends on their toes.
Leola isnt quite right and thanks to our old friends they helped take care of her and befriended her. I did have to snicker at certain places in the story.
Christinecertainly is a marvelous woman and handles everything that is thrown her way with gusto.
Maria is another character that was introduced to us and being Rosetta she certainly put up a good front about everything.
I loved everything about this book.
Charlotte added just the right dose of humor and entertainment as well.
I loved watching these people adjust to certain happenings and how Gid worked His magic charm.
For God knows our ans every step of our way and He is there everywhere!!!
Will Rosetta and Truman be together for life and will Monroe and Christine have the perfect happiness for life?
You'll just have to read this wonderful book to see what happens!!!!
I recommend this book.
I received this book for free on Netgalley and all compensations are not received. All opionions ans words are my own!!

Just finished the third book in the Promise Lodge series entitled Weddings at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard. The three Bender sisters started this community at Promise Lodge, all widows except the youngest, Rosetta. When Monroe Burkholder, a Bishop, walked into their community on Christmas Eve, Chistine Hershberger, the middle sister, was smitten. The romance blossomed until a young, beautiful blond woman, Leola Duff, walked in during church and stated in front of all the members that Monroe had to marry her because she loved him and he had ruined her. Chistine now needs to learn the truth to this accusation. More romance and mishaps follow with the other sisters. I highly recommend this book that continues the tale of Promise Lodge and its community.

The Bender sisters are busy at their new Promise Lodge community, but each one has a suitor. Weddings at Promise Lodge is an engaging read with all the well known residents along with new ones arriving to start over. There’s never a dull moment as Charlotte Hubbard’s stories are filled with unexpected twists and turns that are not found in most Amish romance stories. Will the unexpected new arrivals play havoc with Christine and Rosetta’s romantic relationship? I look forward to reading the next installment in Hubbard’s Promise Lodge series to see what is transpiring with the beloved residents.

A good third installment of the series. I loved the fact that they allowed interfaith marriage, even if the many miscommunications were a bit much.

Spring is the perfect time for weddings, when winter has released its grip on new life just waiting to burst forth. Now that Promise Lodge is beginning to show the same signs of life with a new nursery, new people taking up available property, it now has a new Bishop as well. Bishop Monroe Burkholder arrived just as winter began and soon found love in Christine Hershberger. For both of them it would be a second chance at love since they are both widowers. Christine helps run the Promise Lodge along with her sisters Rosetta and Mattie. Mattie has married Preacher Amos, who seems to question the sudden unexpected arrival of Bishop Burkholder to their small town.

Just as the Sunday Morning service is about to end, a young woman arrives and announces that she has found Monroe and since he ruined her, he'd better make plans to marry her, after all she loves him and plans to stay in Promise Lodge forever. This upsets things between Christine and Monroe as well as Preacher Amos who now believes the new Bishop owes his congregation an explanation, but it will have to wait until things can be discussed between the parties involved. With the arrival of Leola, the young woman who has strong feelings towards Monroe, this really throws plans in the air. When Monroe explains that Leola is a special child from God, and her mind really is that of a child despite her physical appearance, he tries to figure out why she arrived here unexpectedly and without her parents.

He soon learns that Leola has run away from her aunt that was supposed to be caring for her while her parents were in the hospital. Her mom had heart troubles and it will be weeks before Leola can come home. Not to mention that she has thrown out her medication and removed all the labels from her prescriptions so no one can refill them or even know what she should be taking, without talking to her parents. Will the wedding plans continue or will things in Promise Lodge be shaken up so much that all plans will have to be put on hold?

I received Weddings at Promise Lodge by Charlotte Hubbard compliments of Zebra Books, Kensington Publishing Group and Net Galley. This is the third novel in the Promise Lodge series which the premise behind Promise Lodge is the three sisters, Rosetta, Mattie and Christine sold their homes and purchased Promise Lodge to begin a colony where spousal abuse wasn't tolerated and peace was part of the program of living here. Seems a far cry from that with the arrival of Leola as well as a new pretty blonde baker who decides that this is the perfect place to start her business. I love how the women are in charge of this Amish community and they have the say in how things are run despite that fact that there are three preachers and now a Bishop living in their new small town. Things are definitely going to get interesting as the pot begins to be stirred. I give this one a 4.5 of out 5 stars in my opinion and I absolutely LOVE the delicious recipes you will find at the conclusion of this novel.

Weddings at Promise Lodge (Promise Lodge #3) by Charlotte Hubbard Weddings at Promise Lodge is the 3rd book in the Promise Lodge series. This is also the 3rd book I have read. Charlotte Hubbard has done an amazing job with this series. You feel like you at at Promise Lodge. The characters in the book feel like friends at this point. You take a deep look into the lives of this little group of people. It's hard to believe that this book and these people are fiction. Charlotte makes them seem so real. This is my favorite book so far in the series, but I also said that after I finished book 1 and again after book to so when book 4 comes along I am sure I will say it again. The strange part is this is not usually the type of story I read, but I am hooked.
In Weddings at Promise Lodge the book starts out with Mattie and Preacher Amos finally getting married. Christine and the new Bishop's relationship is really kicking into overdrive. Rosetta and Truman are still plugging along and talk to the Bishop about marrying them, even though she will be marrying out of their religion. Truman is a Mennonite.
All sounds good and happy until new people and problems show up at Promise Lodge. Preacher Amos is a bit skeptical about the new Bishop already but when a young woman Leola shows up pronouncing she is to marry him and that he has ruined her, the questions and doubts really start flying from Preacher Amos, but Christine stays steadfast in her loyalty to Bishop Monroe Burkholder and knows things will work out for them. There is something wrong with Leola though and everyone can see it but Amos. She has run away from home without her medication. So the Bender sisters band together to take care of Leola until her family can be reached and she be returned home.
Then a beautiful blond girl Maria shows up. She wants to rent one of the apartments and bring her bakery building to Promise Lodge. Immediately Rosetta gets a bad feeling, especially when she sees how chummy Truman is with her.
This book really runs the gambit of emotions, more so then with the other 2 books. There is love, loss, jealousy, happiness, sadness and so much more. It is a real rollercoaster, that I would love to ride again. I cannot wait for the 4th book.

It's only been a year since the Bender sisters purchased Promise Lodge and boy how things have changed! A return trip to the community will have readers attending multiple weddings, wondering about the secret Bishop Monroe is keeping, and catching up with the other members of this close knit community. Sit down a spell and catch up with the folks of Promise Lodge.

There is quite the cast of characters in this book and I once again had a difficult time keeping them all straight. However, once I had everyone straightened out in my mind it was fun to catch up with all of them. This is a constantly changing community so there are old friends to catch up with and new friends to meet. Leola and Maria were a couple of newbies to the community and they may or may not cause a little worry for Christine and Rosetta.

One thing I found unique to this series is that the Amish community is a bit "looser" than most. There is more kissing and flirting going on than one normally reads about in the genre. This didn't necessarily bother me as I realize that the Amish are people just like everyone else and have the same desires for love and happiness. I'm just stating this as some readers may be a bit shocked by some of the dialogue and actions of some of the members of the community.

This book was a fun one to read and it was great to return to Promise Lodge. I'm hoping there are several more books in this series as I have enjoyed each one. This book could stand on its own but I would definitely recommend reading the series in order as to get the history of the community and its members.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a review. All opinions are mine.

Charlotte Hubbard has once again written a true winner in Amish fiction. When this book arrived in my mailbox, I eagerly ripped open the parcel , so that I could once again reconnect with all of my friends at Promise Lodge, plus possibly meet some new ones. This is a continuation of a series taking place in a place that I would love to visit, a lodge in peaceful surroundings, filled with loving friends. Anyone is welcome, as long as they stick to Christian values. This is not to say, that this is a place without its problems and challenges!! We all realise that even the most beautiful environments have their share of problems!.

The characters in this book are believable and so realistically described that they pull you into their lives from the very first page. The reader walks alongside them as they encounter problems, endure many struggles, but overcome their hardships through their love of their Lord and His ability to heal. Second chances and new beginnings are the underlying theme throughout this tale.

The plot moves quickly and steadily keeping one totally engaged, with the frequent twists and unexpected turns . As I read, I was never quite sure what new challenges would appear just as everyone's lives were taking a turn for the better.

Of course, who doesn't love a story about weddings??? This is the season! If you love the Amish genre as I do, don't miss this book! It is a sweet romance that will leave you examining your own faith , long after finishing the book.

This book was received as a gift. The thoughts and opinions expressed are honest and my own.

To be released on June 27th.

One of the things that I've liked about this series are the unconventional characters.
I've absolutely loved the three Bender sisters, Mattie, Christine and Rosetta. Their dreams of starting a new colony, with the help and spiritual guidance from Preacher Amos have become a reality with more people moving to Promise Lodge and starting new businesses.
They are warm and welcoming to everyone and have formed friendships with most of the new arrivals.

I found newcomer, Bishop Monroe Burkholder kind of off putting at first, but after a few chapters I liked that he was a lot less stuffy than I'd expected a bishop to be and enjoyed his flirtation with Christine.
The arrival of Leola and Maria creates quite a bit of friction in and around the lodge as relationships are tested, but with faith and prayer things will work out the way they're meant to.
There's a busyness that I love at the lodge, wedding planning, wedding ceremonies, cooking, building homes and businesses and anything else that's needed to turn dreams into reality.

I've been a longtime fan of the authors work so I'm not surprised that I've liked this series so much and I think other readers of Amish fiction will, too.
Don't forget to check out the recipes included at the end of the book.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from Netgalley and have given my honest opinion.

This is the third book in a series and the first book of the series that I've read. It can stand alone, but it would read better if the previous books had been in my reading list.

Three sisters have bought what used to be a church camp and a few other plain folk have bought land around it to make a new settlement.

Mattie and Christine are widowed sisters, and Rosette is older, but never married. Mattie ties her knot first with Amos, one of the preachers. Christine and Rosette both have beaux lined up for their own nuptials. Christine is going to marry Munroe--the new bishop, and Rosette is going to marry Truman--a Mennonite.

The only problem is a couple of flies in the ointment--Leola thinks she's in love with Munroe, and Maria has known Truman for most of her life, and both women interrupt the road to true love for Christine and Rosette.

Charlotte Hubbard has put quite a bit of humor and misadventure in the Weddings at Promise Lodge. She uses the humor to keep the reader involved in the story and to keep the reader entertained, and she does it with aplomb. I truly enjoyed this book and hated to see it end. I wish now I'd read the previous ones.

Five Stars, Two Thumbs Up, and a wedding pie

At Promise Lodge you escape and the characters become friends, in this the third book of the series as you follow the story lines of the Bender sisters and the families who have moved to Promise Lodge. Promise Lodge is a growing Amish community which is slightly different than a conventional Amish Community the sisters run the lodge, have a produce stand for income, sell homemade soap, allow a lady renter to own a bakery, and an unwed pregnant Amish girl has a glorious wedding. When a new Bishop come to Promise Lodge he is almost too good to be true and Preacher Amos is on a mission to find out just what is wrong with this handsome, available, caring, and Amish Bishop. Bender sister Christine and Bishop Monroe are attracted to each other right way. Their journey as a couple is so heartwarming and still has many bumps and bruises and roadblocks thrown in the way. Charlotte Hubbard thank you for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review of the book. I have read the entire series and have impatiently waited to read the continuing stories of the friends at Promise Lodge. If you enjoy books that take you away ... a visit to Promise Lodge will be just the getaway you need. I would suggest reading them in order.

As always, Charlotte Hubbard gives us an engaging story of the unusual community of Promise Lodge in her latest installment -- Weddings at Promise Lodge.

The women and men of Promise Lodge continue to find their way through joys and sorrows, exciting developments, and apparent obstacles as their new way of life evolves from the various backgrounds from which they came. Characters who have been present from the beginning of the series, as well as new ones who find their way to the old church camp turned Plain community, learn to live and work together for the mutual benefit of the residents. Wedding plans come and go amidst growing love and unexpected miscommunications. You just never know who will show up at Promise Lodge and what new direction life will take upon their arrival.

While many aspects of these books are considerably different from some other Amish romance novels, the flow is a very natural and interesting one. I highly recommend Weddings at Promise Lodge -- as well as the rest of the series -- to fans of great Amish fiction.

Thanks to Charlotte for providing a copy of her book and to Goddess Fish Promotions for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of this tour. I was happy to share my thoughts in this review.

Weddings at Promise Lodge is ranking right up there as one of my favorite books so far this year! It is such a treat to re visit Christine, Mattie and Rosetta and to see how their new lives and community in Promise Lodge is expanding. And, this time around, to read about Christine and her blossoming relationship with the new bishop, Monroe. Christine, a widow with two young adult daughters, and Monroe, a widower, shared an instant attraction and connection to each other upon his arrival at Promise Lodge. However, this connection is potentially threatened by the arrival of a young lady from Monroe's former community- unless Monroe can bring everyone, especially Amos, one of the preachers, to the understanding that nothing possibly could have happened between him and Leola. We also re visit Amos and Mattie in their relationship and their new marriage, and Rosetta and Truman as they hope to plan their marriage with Monroes' blessing. There are so many special and meaningful relationships that develop and strengthen in this story. Charlotte Hubbard is a truly gifted writer, and as always, I cannot wait to see what she writes next!

Could Promise Lodge sound any more perfect? Do they have problems? Yes, but the perfect part of it is they solve it as a neighborhood family.

I enjoyed this Amish novel for the different aspect it provided. Most Amish novels I have read frown up a Mennonite and Amish furthering their relationship to possible marriage and this one did not. The people of Promise Lodge let Mennonite and Amish live within the same community. Very well done. Acceptance at its finest.

I have not read the previous two novels in this series but that did not slow me down one bit. I was able to follow along and understand who was who. You can bet I will be running to the library to get the first two as soon as I can. This series has piqued my interest big time. I am already looking forward to the next one and this one has yet to publish.

Charlotte Hubbard has provided peace and feelings of acceptance with the Promise Lodge community. Sometimes we all just need a little of that in our lives.

Thank you to NetGalley and Zebra (Kensington Books) for an ARC of this book. Any and all opinions are my own.

Welcome back friends. Are you in for a treat! Its wedding season here at Promise Lodge won't you join me in the festivities? All of you favorites friends will be there and even some new ones you may or may not care for, but either case you will be touched by this book and those we have all come to love through Charlotte writings.

Weddings at Promise Lodge is Hubbard's 3rd book in her Promise Lodge series. She, once again will capture your heart in Weddings at Promise Lodge making you wish there was such a place to visit.

When an unexpected Leola Duff appears at Promise Lodge and claims that Bishop Monroe has just about ruined her life people start to talk and asking themselves if they jumped to decisions on making him Bishop of their community. Christine on the other hand continues to stand by the truth of what she knows and that is Bishop Monroe is a wonderful man and shouldn't be doubted by any other members.

I am not going to give an spoilers away. This is a must read book by Hubbard and would be a perfect gift with the coming holidays.

I was given a copy of this book for a review that I have given above.

Promise Lodge sounds like a wonderful place to live, but everything is not always rosy. They have problems just like everywhere else. In fact, in this third book in the series, the problems seem to escalate for the Bender sisters. The story opens with Mattie getting married to Preacher Amos. Rosetta has been interested in Truman Wickey since their first meeting, but he is a Mennonite and Old Order Amish are not allowed to marry Mennonites. Christine has recently met Bishop Monroe, who is new to their community. From the looks of things, two younger women who suddenly arrive at Promise Lodge are chasing after Truman and Bishop Monroe. They generate quite a bit of “excitement” although Rosetta and Christine find it to be more stressful than exciting. One thing stood out more in this book than it did in the first two books. It seems this small community of Amish are constantly celebrating with huge feasts. You might want to eat before you start reading or you may find yourself snacking all the way through. The spreads they put on sounded like meals fit for a king. I think I need to go find something to eat before I get started on another book.

Interesting and Entertaining

When you find a novel by Charlotte Hubbard, you know you’ve found a fun treat. Such was the case when I happened upon her latest release, Weddings at Promise Lodge
Weddings at Promise Lodge takes readers back to Promise Lodge and its famous Bender sisters. Christine is smitten with a widowed newcomer, Bishop Monroe Burkholder. But when a woman from his old church shows up at Promise Lodge claiming that Monroe “ruined” her, the drama begins.

I was given Weddings at Promise Lodge in exchange for my honest review. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading them in order as many storylines, including how Promise Lodge came into being, are established in previous novels. I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet romances made at Promise Lodge, but was caught a bit off guard by the unconventional ways of the Promise Lodge church. The characters were openly amorous with one another, and even a bit suggestive. I would say this is more of a Christian fiction novel, rather than an Amish genre novel. That being said, I found the storylines interesting and entertaining.

Charlotte Hubbard is one of my favorite Amish fiction authors! From the moment I begin reading a new story, I’m pulled into the it and now that I’m retired, I usually don’t stop reading until I’m done.

This story is awesome! I enjoyed visiting Mattie, Rosetta, and Christine, the Bender sisters, who were determined to have a fresh start in a new community. Recently, widowed Bishop Monroe Burkholder has relocated to their community — and falls in love with Christine Bender.

But when another woman shows up, claiming that the bishop has ruined her, what is Christine supposed to do? Trust him? Or give him up?

Honestly, I had no idea what to believe… I wanted to believe the bishop, but Charlotte has introduced me to more than one dishonest character in bishop’s clothing! Obviously, I was hooked… and kept reading till the very end. Wow! If you want to know what happens, pick up a copy of Weddings at Promise Lodge and read it for yourself.

Charlotte has created a wonderful new community in Promise Lodge, with fascinating characters and intriguing possibilities in this new series.

Don’t wait another minute. Order your copy today… you’re gonna love it!!!

Happy Reading!

This is an excellent continuation of the Promise Lodge series. Preacher Amos is showing a side of his character that I didn't fully notice in the first two books. I even start to wonder if I like him anymore and if Mattie is going to have problems with her new husband. The new Bishop is also having a great deal of trouble which raises Amos' ire. Christine, the middle Bender sister has placed her heart in Monroe's hands and he feels the same but a new visitor is wreaking havoc for sure. Charlotte Hubbard keeps this series fresh and deeply interesting. Even Rosetta and Truman are having problems.
I'm very happy with his book. Characters are so well developed and the ongoing story stays true to itself and is very enjoyable. I never know once an author has been deeper into a series but Charlotte keeps this fresh, suspenseful and riveting!
You could read this as a stand alone but the series is so good, I recommend starting at book one.

Thanks very much to the publisher and NetGalley for my copy.

I really enjoyed the next book in the Promise Lodge series. Charlotte Hubbard is definitely one of my favorite Amish authors. Her books are uplifting and very enjoyable. Her characters have real feelings that make you keep reading to get to know them all better.

Promise Lodge is a former camp site that was purchased by the Bender sisters and as new plain people come to reside in the community, each brings their talents, their trials and their personalities with them to their new home.

The community seems to be flourishing and love is blooming but not without being tested in a way that might stretch their trust and faith just a bit too far. Are they up for the challenge? You need to read this book. I loved it and was sad to see the book come to an end! I will be reading more from Charlotte Hubbard, no doubt about that!

I received a copy of this book from the author for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Charlotte Hubbard and the Promise Loge series are totally new to me, and while this new order of Amish seemed to be more liberal than the Old Order books I have read before, it certainly did not stop me from enjoying the story.

I give full credit to the author for introducing mental health issues into the book, as it seems like one of the subjects that Anish Romance tends to stay away from. I also really enjoyed the spin of Bishop Monroe Burkholder (and main love interest) having secrets, it gives this book that thrilling little morsel that we all want to read in a romance book. The idea of Monroe and Christine fall in love with each other (basically) at first sight is also a wonderful breath of fresh air, and I loved it.

This book really surprised me as I tend to be more traditional in my Christian fiction, but if you only read one Amish romance this year, I totally recommend Weddings at Promise Lodge.

I give Wedding at Promise Lodge 4 stars.

Weddings at Promise Lodge is the third book in n the Promise Lodge series written by Charlotte Hubbard. I have not read the other two but did not have an issue picking this one up as a stand-alone.

The characters are very welcoming and it is easy to follow their story. Bishop Monroe who is calm and open to the changes the community wants to take is introduced in this book. He is calm, understanding, and not afraid to encourage his community to make changes.
The story opens with a wedding and there are others that are paired up facing marriage before the book ends. There is some added mystery plots that put a bump in the road for one couple when a mystery girl, Leola, shows up with a story that Amos must discover the truth behind.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from netgalley in return for my honest opinion of the book.

I loved reading about older couples starting a new life in new places. If you are like me then you will not be disappointed in this book.
Christine Hershberger sees bishop Monroe Burkholder and is strangely attracted to him even though she does not know a lot about his background. He arrives at Promise Lodge where no one knows him. Monroe returns the affection toward Christine and soon they are a couple with promises for a future together until someone from his past shows up and claims Monroe as her own love. Will the arrival of Leola tear them apart or will Monroe send Leola packing?
I love Amish fiction and Charlotte Hubbard brings the characters to life with her stories. I have read several of her books and look forward to reading more of them.

This book continues the story of the 3 Bender Amish sisters who start the community of Promise Lodge. Everything is going well but problems arise when Christine Bender falls in love with Bishop Monroe and Preacher Amos doesn't like it. The romance doesn't go smoothly when Leola claims that Monroe ruined her and he has to marry her. A nice continuation of the story.
