The four heroes of Erdas are fugitives on the run in this new chapter of the New York Times bestselling series!
Conor, Abeke, Meilin, and Rollan are young heroes who stopped an unstoppable monster. They are Greencloaks -- guardians chosen from every nation of Erdas -- and together with their powerful spirit animals, they fight to protect their world.
But in the ashes of this destruction, there are some who Are the Greencloaks to blame? The young heroes are shocked to find themselves on trial, judged by a council of the world's leaders. Then the unthinkable happens. The council is attacked from within -- by Greencloaks --and an important leader lies slain.
In the blink of an eye, Erdas's saviors become wanted fugitives. Someone is trying to frame them as traitors, but why? As the four friends race to uncover this mystery, only one thing is clear . . .
I thought this series was over, so was confused to see the next few books pop up in Overdrive! I did enjoy this, but I found it a bit hard to get back into - not because I didn't like the writing or plot, but because I had already closed the story in my brain.
On pg. 5, Abeke says she knows better than anyone else that the Wyrm's influence couldn't be easily forgotten after Conor keeps rubbing his forehead. Conor was taken control of and forced to betray his friends. I'm pretty sure he's the one that knows better than everyone else. And she says it was "somehow worse for him." He was literally mind controlled lol. Having your spirit animal taken away is terrible, but at least you weren't mind controlled.
Wow, Anka and her chameleon are the first to have something about an animal be correct. Chameleons change their color and texture based on their surroundings, not their mood. I'm pleasantly surprised that someone finally got something right!
Overall, I'm really happy with this one. I was worried after the ending of the last book these last three would just be nonsense to drag the series out more, but at least Prineas did it well!
I'm glad Worthy got a redemption arc. I like Anka. I like how the heart worked like a talisman. Ultimately, I don't have too much to say about it. It was a good addition to the story that I enjoyed.
The fights were exciting, the character development was on point, and the animal knowledge was finally right. Couldn't ask for more!
dnfing this completely. in my mind the story ended with book four ---------- put this on hiatus on page fifty-two. i need a break from this mediocre series. not to mention it doesn't help that i think this continuation is completely pointless. the spirit animals: fall of the beasts series could've stopped with the fourth book and would've been completely fulfilling.
Congratulations Spirit Animals wins a big bucket of tree sap ! ( Sorry had to make a joke ) Review : It wasn't exactly the best Spirit Animal book because it was just bad .but I liked it only because the series hasn't ended yet .visible flaws and the action seemed shortened and warning : it was very sugarcoated .( and a lot of Hippocrate things appeared in this book )🍰🍦🍬🍫🍩🍪🍨🍭🎂
Spirit animals Heart of the land by sarah prineas.Connor Abeck and Maylin a few others try to save the world from disaster but during them trying to fix everything. Somebody ends up acting like a green cloak and kills one of the world leaders. So then they have to figure out a strategy on how to save the world. while the world is attacking them on site they have to be careful so they don't die.
Some of the things the author does is keep me reading by making it easy to picture. On page 73, Oathbound is coming for the Green Cloaks and Abeke uses her spirit animal powers to change the cloak color. “The rest of the Oathbound will be back soon,” she said sharply as her skin, hair, and clothes darkened to match the color of the forest. On page 113 the writer talks about Abeke says “Where like glue that keeps all of Erdas from falling apart”. I saw in my head all of them staying together as a family. The writer says on page 119 that it was a shrill scream that pierced the air, even louder than the booming roar of the waterfalls. Reading that part made me feel scared, and I imagined myself running the other direction. On page 76, it talks about how the parasites were crawling up the legs of Connor. “It was a seething mass of oily, black parasites. As he watched in horror, they covered his entire body”. This reminded me of a time when I was swimming and I got leeches on my legs and I even got one in my ear. It gave me goosebumps when I read that part.
I would recommend this book to my friends because it was a short book. It kept me on the edge of my seat. There were a few cliffhangers at the end of a few chapters. This book made me want to explore the outdoors a little more. If you like the outdoors, war, and animals this book is for you. I think this book is good for a kid around 10.
We didn't really get a happy ending after "The Burning Tide", So I was foolishly hoping to see where our four heroes where now and how their friendship, their family and their overall lives where now. But they don't get a moment's rest.
After Zerif and the Wyrm took control over (most) of the Greencloaks and forced them to fight the rest of the world, their friends and families. It, of course doesn't come as a surprise that the rest of the world doesn't trust the greencloaks anymore. Even though our four heroes, the Redcloaks and a whole lot of other people destroyed Zerif and the Wyrm the world is in distrust.
The Greencloaks are hunted and put on trial for crimes they did under the influence of the Wyrm. They are blamed for the death of the Zhongese Emperor when he gets murdered by imposters.
I think the Oathbound are responsible for the emperor's death, or even Princess Song. Although I'm a big fan of Anka, I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. Somehow the Oathbound keep finding our heroes and Worthy is trying to hard to be "worthy" of their trust. So I think Anka is the traitor.
"SPIRIT ANIMALS" IS NOT A CONCEPT FOR NON-NATIVE PEOPLE TO TAKE.
The title and blurb alone are incredibly racist and appropriate Native cultures. It's never ok for spirit animals to be used in this way. They're sacred to many Native peoples. Something a lot of Native people won't even talk about among themselves/ourselves because it's so sacred and private. For this series to even mention spirit animals is offensive, let alone ENCOURAGE KIDS TO ROLE PLAY HAVING A SPIRIT ANIMAL. Don't pick up this trash. The entire concept is rooted in the oppression of Native people.
Settlers just take and take and take, with no regard or respect for the cultures they're stealing and profiting from. Stop it. Please, just stop. This book and this entire series is sickening. Make up your own concepts and use your own words. Stop appropriating Indigenous peoples. You're causing real harm.
I felt like this book wasn't really needed in this series. They finished the story nicely in the previous one. The only thing they left open is if Abeke and Conor would fall in love like Rollan and Meilin. Even so, I read this wondering what they would do.
Again I still feel like this should have been its own series. It was different conflicts and new quests. It doesn't really have anything related to the first half of the series, other than Conor still feeling bad about being taken over they the Wyrm.
Not much really happened in this book. They got a new quest, new "bad guys" that are trying to stop them, and a few new characters. Even with the new characters that you meet, only Devin - who you know from previous books, had any sort of character growth.
CONTAINS SPOILERS!!! DON"T READ IF YOU DON"T WANT SPOILERS! This book is okay, but the series took a fall after the best person in the book world died, and there's a little drama, but I like Worthy and everything, though I dislike the whole Rollan-Meilin thing they have, because, I guess if Shane and Abeke aren't a thing, I don't think Rollan and Meilin should be. (I'm not saying Meilin or Rollan should be killed off, I'm saying Shane shouldn't have been, I don't know how many fan-fictions I wrote where he didn't die and him and Abeke lived happily ever after. Him dying influenced my writing greatly, and now I'll never kill a character, because it affects the reader in a lot of ways and CAN RUIN A BOOK SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought this was a great book in the Spirit Animals cannon. It didn't feel dragged out, or boring in any way. I especially loved the relationship between the characters as they grew even closer to one another. Anka was my favorite new character.
My only problem was that I think this should be a new series, not a continuation of Fall of the Beasts. It has a completely different conflict that was only brought on by what happened previously. Other than that small thing, I loved it.
I really thought this series could have been concluded with the last book. But seeing as how it didn't, I feel like I have invested so much time in these Spirit Animal books, that I want to know what else is going to happen to these 4 kids, and the others they have met along the way. In this book, they are being chased by a group called the Oathbound. The Greencloaks have been made to look like murderers. I am interested to see what else will go on in the final three books.
3.5/5-I really liked things about this portion of the series. I don’t think it quite measured up to the “Worm Trilogy” that preceded it. It never felt quite as desperate. And, it felt repetitive: traveling their world trying to find relics with great power. But, I loved that the 4 main characters were together for essentially the entire mission. And, I loved the climactic battle in the final book after they’ve strengthened the bond with their spirit animals. Good stuff!
Okay I'm willing to see where this series goes. I don't know how the author can create so many unique stories within the same world. It is honestly impressive. Keep up the fantastic work on character development and redemption. I'm okay with villain redemption as long as there is still a realistic edge to it (i.e if the Allied powers had forgiven Hitler). An entirely evil villain cannot be redeemed but lesser ones who just made mistakes deserve chances.
Beating that horrible thing was great, and just when you think nothing else could go wrong. something does. The greencloaks or impostors of attack make people fear the green cloaks rather than like them. Now they have to go on another mission to save the green cloaks' names and show everyone that they were deceived. But how on earth are they going to do that now when the world is against them?
Although the fourth book in this series seemed like it wrapped up the story, they've continued the series with a new quest. They've added one of the redcloaks - Worthy - to the team of four along with another greencloak guide.
This was a great addition to the series. I wasn't expecting another book after the last one, but i'm glad they wrote another one. I can tell that the next adventure will be just as good as the last two.
The end of the Spirit Animals Fall of the Beasts was supposed to be the Burning Tide. Not Anymore! You'll find that this book hides many plots and secrets that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Rollan, Abeke, Connor and Meilin are back together and have to rescue Erdas again, but this time it is not an external enemy, but the nations of Erdas itself that are the problem. Well written and engaging this story will delight all spirit animals fans.
I enjoyed reading this story! Now our heroes have a new threat as they are on the run from being captured. Their flight takes them from over the sea to deep forest as they move to bring a special amulet to its place.
very interesting, I was wondering what the last 4 books were going to be about since they defeated the wyrm and Zerif in the burning tide, now the 4 heroes of Erdas have to save the green cloaks.
