American Girl: Tenney Grant #3

Tenney Shares the Stage

Rate this book
Tenney and Logan record their first album in this third book in Tenney's series!

Tenney & Logan are a harmonious match onstage, but behind the scenes, they are totally out of tune. In this third novel, Tenney has signed a recording contract and is ready to make the album of her dreams . . . she just wishes she didn't have to do it with moody Logan Everett! They're supposed to be songwriting partners, but Logan doesn't even seem to be trying. Just when it looks like they've found their harmony, Logan suddenly disappears, and Tenney wonders if he has bailed on their act. A couple of months ago, Tenney would have gladly taken the opportunity to go solo. But as she learns more of Logan's story, she begins to wonder: Do she and Logan need each other--and their music--now more than ever before?

Kellen was raised by New Yorkers in Fresno, California, a combination which resulted in an overactive imagination and a yearning for bagels. She decided to become a writer at age 10, after reading L. Frank Baum’s “Wizard of Oz” series, since the job of Princess of Oz was already taken. At 12, her unfinished first novel was tragically lost in a sea of library books on the floor of her room, forcing her to seek other employment. She’s worked as a screenwriter, television producer, bookseller and a congressional staffer, which is exactly as boring as it sounds. She loves vintage maps, strange names, strong coffee, and words and all the flavors they come in. Most of all, she loves her family. She lives with her husband and son in Los Angeles.

** I received a copy of this book for free through a Goodreads giveaway. **

This was a fun, upbeat story about two young musicians who have to learn to work together and trust each other. With a nice sub-plot about the stresses and worries that can plague young people at times, the story shows the importance of working together and reaching out, both for help and to offer assistance.

I'm really glad I reread all 3 of these books, because it reminded me how inspiring characters like Tenney can be! This one focused a lot on the hardships she faced with Logan ajd not only self discovery, but a mutual connection between the two of them.

●♡ SUMMARY ♡○
Things aren't looking the best for Tenney and Logan's record deal. Tenney doesn't understand why Logan is always late to rehearsals, and why he's showing so little interest in the work she's put in to her music. Over time, things begin to get better, but when one unfortunate event happens, the two of them aren't sure if their music career is a bust or not. Tenney tries her hardest to convince Logan to rejoin the band and what an important part of it he is, and after some help from her brother Mason, and a very happy little girl named Alice, they put on a performance they'll never forget.

○♡ OPINIONS ♡○
Like I said, these books felt so nostalgic; I really wish American Girl was releasing better dolls now, like they had in the past! I really liked seeing the dynamic develop between Tenney and Logan over time, and how considerate Tenney begins to act towards Logan and his whole situation. She realizes all the tough things he's left to himself, and I love that this girl is really all about helping people, even if they're in the worst possible state! I think this book would motivate a lot of younger kids because of how realistic it is to go through the (terrifying) process of losing friends and trying to gain their trust back. I also loved how no matter what she was doing, Tenney's brother Mason was always willing to help her out; whether it be for the greater good of the friendship she has, or her music career. A really timeless, encouraging read overall I have some books I'm looking forward to getting to over Christmas break, haha :)

The book Tenney Shares the Stage by Kellen Hertz was a very powerful book! My favorite part about this book was the main character, Tenney! Tenney is such a strong character and role model. Trying to face her dreams of becoming a professional singer and songwriter might come crashing down when she has to work with Logan. She knows something is up and wants to help. That is what I like about her! She is caring, kind, and presents that in her music. Tenney also never gives up. When she thought that Tenney and Logan were over, she tried all she could to save this band. Overall, I thought this book was a powerful book that was hard to put down. But my all time favorite part about this book was the main character, Tenney.

I like how this book shows that even if you don't get along with someone, you still need to find a way to work with them. Both Tenney and Logan have obsticles they must overcome, Tenney must learn to be open to critcism and learn to work with someone who has a different musical style than she does while Logan is dealing with stuff at home. I don't like Logan as a character because of his attitude but I do see the reason for some of his behavior. He's trying to juggle school and rehearsals while trying to provide for his family Its a lot of stress on a kid but that doesn't excuse his actions. I still loved this book

0 TSwift references! WooWooo! I would rate it four stars were it not for the fact that Tenney and Logan are unrealistically going to open for the TSwift wannabe, Belle Starr, in the next book. The drama with Logan was well-done and believable. I still can't believe American Girl sent one of their characters to juvie!

"Music makes us feel better and stronger when we listen to it... and it helps us heal when we're sad or frightened."

This is a fun continuation of Tenney's story. It includes insight into the singer-songwriter process and incorporates key lessons of friendship and cooperation.

So far this is the best of the Tenney books though I still have one more to go. The first two took awhile to get into but I could not put this book down.

Done! I really liked this one. Idk, it's not the warm and fuzzy feeling, maybe empowering? Cheesy, but oh well. I liked how the emotions were conveyed. I think this book was really well done.
