Talia lives in a tropical rainforest that is home to some magical creatures. Talia was given a magical stone with which she is able to communicate with these magical creatures. She meets up with a baby firebird and has to sneak it out the village as there are bad people out there that want to destroy them.

A lovely introduction to saving animals and the planet. I'm sure boys and girls would want their own magic stone to be able to communicate and understand animals.

This series is so cute! Talia is yet another wonderful character to add to the cast, along with little Riki 💖.

I thought that this book was awesome. Lucas and Taila really obviously both like animals. They're magical-animal-mad! I think that Sir Friztroy is horrid, espicially because he had to ban Sophy from going when Taila really, really, really needed her help. Also, I think that it was really very mean of the dragon to take away the speaking stone from Taila. Taila must really love Riki to do that. Also, she must LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Riki and the other firebirds to do this. First of all, no one and no one at all would dare first of call the dragon. If they did it would be IMPOSSIBLE that they went intot he cave and IMPOSSIBLE IMPOSSIBLE that they kept on persisiting and annoying it until it woke up. At least when the dragon saw Riki and Tailia hugging he saw how much they loved each other and gave the speaking stone back. Also, I knew that Lucas would get a speaking stone. It was obvious! You could tell by the way he cared about the animals so much (even though maybe not AS much as Taila!)
My favourite charcter is Tailia because she cares about the fire birds so much and has proved to willingly take huge risks for them, just to save them. I reccomend this book to everyone as it is awesome and amazing!

The Secret Rescuers: The Star Wolf

I thought that this book was awesome. Emma was just so keen on star wolves and obviously loved them very much, espicailly Teo. Teo had grown very attatched to Emma so it must have been very hard for him to say goodbye. My favourite charcter is Emma because she really and truly cares about the star wolves and took a huge risk for them.. She must have been absoloutely horrified when she heard that the 'baddies' wanted to take away the star wolves' voices and she must have also been angry. I reccomend this book to everyone as it is awesome and amazing.

Basic gist: The words that are used to describe the villain in this story are body-shaming.

I liked this series so far; strong girl characters that are not princesses, it's not based around a classroom (for a home schooled kid) but I have issues with how the villain in this story is described.

Descriptive words for this villain (which are used over and over) include "pudgy", "plump", "chubby", and in one case: "she stared back at the man, noticing his flabby cheeks and the pimples on his chin with hairs sticking out of them." He's also often described as "mopping his forehead" or "breathless" after walking around the rainforest.

Lord Fortescue is the villain, but he can be a villain character without being constantly described as basically "fat", "out of shape" and "pimply". This gives the message that all of this is synonymous with being "bad". This is body shaming, which isn't a message that I want my kids to internalize.

Since my daughter loved the first two books, when I read it I just skip over these parts. If my daughter could read along I would talk to her about it.

Another fun adventure!

We are introduced to Talia in this story. Apparently we skip the dolphin adventure and find out Sophy visited this girl and gifted her a speaking stone. When Talia meets a baby firebird she finds out how it comes in handy.
Soon soliders arrive to find the firebirds and she has to convince the birds to flee! But the firebirds cannot leave! 🙀
So between the firebirds, Lucas (Talia's best friend), and Talia they figure out a plan to save their valley 😄
With the help of a stubborn dragon later on haha
Another fun adventure. Loving this cute series and all the animal love in the stories ☺️

Perfect story for youth 3-7!

Just enough conflict to be interesting, but not enough to frighten. My grand daughter is falling asleep to these wonderful books and awakes to tell her parents all about what happened. Off to buy the next one!

This is a quick read about trust and friendship. Yes it is about magical creatures, but it has all the good qualities you need and use in real-life.
