A new edition of the classic guide to using the spiritual and psychological insights of renowned mystic and psychic Edgar Cayce to find your authentic mission in life.
The medical clairvoyant Edgar Cayce (1877-1945) left the world a wealth of intuiitive readings on everything from health and spirituality to psychology and past lives. Now the most significant teacher of Cayce's teachings, Mark Thurston, updates and revises his classic book, Discovering Your Soul's Purpose , to help you use the Cayce teachings in the twenty-first century to find greater purpose in your relationships, career, and overall mission in life.
This book works hard at its purpose and cycles through many different get-to-know-you activities, which the reader does with by themself. These step by step activities--one leading to the next--finally results in a workable knowledge of "life's purpose." For me, this purpose ended up being credible and accurate, and I've begun living it in accordance with Thurston's recommendations.
So the title to me is accurate: You find your purpose here, and you explore it in terms of life, work, and personal mission. (The advice here is not too radicle; it's actually quite down to earth and realistic: You will not be advised to jump up and quit your job the next day, etc.) The advice and recommendations are referenced to Edgar Cayce's methods and readings, and these are fascinating to read in themselves.
I guess the reason it's not a great book is that it lacks fire. Thurston writes well enough, but there is no real oomph or go-get-'em to spice it up, or dynamism in the arrangement of the chapters. The author is even-keel, trustable, accurate, and friendly, but not too passionate or creative.
But this is a small criticism after all, and I would still recommend this book to anyone drawn to its title. For whatever it's worth, you may indeed get a glimpse of your soul's own purpose here on Earth, and some ways to live it out.
When I found Mark Thurston's book - Discovering Your Soul's Purpose, I had to buy it. And I totally devoured it. The core reason is that it wasn't like any other books I'd read. It was all focused on Edgar Cayce's method. If you don't know Cayce, he was pretty radical in his day. He was a 20th-century Psychic and medical clairvoyant, right up my alley of spiritual adventuring.
It really helped me focus on the latest iteration of my business.
Now might be the perfect time for you to sit down and have a “good think” about your business and where you see it today, in the next month, year, or more.
Maybe you need a “Discovering Your Soul’s Purpose Reboot.”
I’d highly recommend Mark Thurston’s book - Discovering Your Soul’s Purpose: Finding Your Path in Life, Work, and Personal Mission, the Edgar Cayce Way. For more specifics and takeaways from the book - here's a more in-depth review - https://booksyougottaread.com/2023/01...
