Wären Mauthners Beiträge nicht so lang, würde das Lesen noch angenehmer sein. Heute scheinen die Beiträge wenig neue Erkenntnis für uns zu bieten, und das wollen sie vielleicht auch gar nicht, denn es geht ihnen vor allem darum, die alten Erkenntnisse (=Wörter) zu kritisieren und ihr oftmals loses (Sprach-)fundament aufzuzeigen; Mauthners Akribie bei diesem Unternehmen in allen Ehren, es zieht sich dann aber doch gewaltig und vieles wiederholt sich nicht nur zweimal. Aber trotz allem gut, denn ein recht einfacher und dann und wann lustiger Sprachstil lockern das Ganze auf und die Wiederholungen sind gut, da man so das Wichtigste auch nach dem Lesen im Kopf behält. Auch am Inhalt des Büchleins ist kaum etwas auszusetzen - mal sehen, wie die zwei anderen Bände sind.
