Playing a game of spot the cat is the perfect way to encourage young children to look closely at paintings. While hunting for cats, they can also discover and discuss all the different objects, colors, shapes, and patterns they see, and so take their first steps toward a lasting appreciation of art.
An assortment of masterpieces featuring cats, with minimal text guiding readers to find the cat within the paintings. The small format makes it difficult to share with a group of more than about 5 kids, but it exposes readers to a wide range of artists and styles. Some of the cats are much easier to find than others.
This is a really cool concept and I enjoy it a lot. It varies between difficult-to-find and east-to-find. It's not a super great introduction to art or whatever, but that doesn't matter because I would think it's more about exposure. Just a cool book/series.
