A young reader's introduction to art highlights fifteen colorful and diverse paintings by a variety of artists, and each work features a dog that is sometimes hidden in unexpected places.
Great concept! This book features paintings from a wide range of styles and time periods, and each one has a dog somewhere on the canvas. What a great way to introduce famous artists like Degas and Picasso to young readers. I love that this book exists.
An assortment of masterpieces featuring dogs, with minimal text guiding readers to find the dogs within the paintings. The small format makes it difficult to share with a group of more than about 5 kids, but it exposes readers to a wide range of artists and styles. Some of the dogs are much easier to find than others.
I like how Lucy used famous artists' works for her hide-and -seek activity. One or more dogs are found in each painting. The words are simple enough and big enough that they're great for beginning readers. I like how she has kids playing with great art!
This is a really cool concept and I enjoy it a lot. It varies between difficult-to-find and east-to-find. It's not a super great introduction to art or whatever, but that doesn't matter because I would think it's more about exposure. Just a cool book/series.
