Lucas Sloane defines beautiful for Reese. Tall and sleek with gorgeous red hair and deep, dark eyes to drown in, it's no wonder that the famous bass player is the hero of many a starry-eyed teenager's dreams.

Reese used to be one of those teens. Back when Heaven Sent was no more than the house band for the local club, Purgatory. Back then, it was easy to get to know Luc. To become friends with him. Somehow, Reese found the courage to take heart in hand and confess his love to Luc… only to be soundly rejected. Luc wasn’t gay. Not long after, Heaven Sent left town and skyrocketed into rock and roll stardom.

Now, six years later, Luc is back in town for a visit and more gorgeous than ever. Surprisingly, he not only apologizes for his treatment of Reese years ago, he comes onto him. Seems Luc's discovered the pleasures of being with a man and wants to know what it'd be like between the two of them.

But Reese can't. He just can’t. He lives the straight and narrow. He teaches high school. He's got a girlfriend. He has a normal life. He can't be gay.

Of course, it's really very hard to deny the man who's defined everything beautiful in Reese's artistic mind. Okay. No one has to know about it, right?

I think it is only fair to list a few of the many reasons I hated this book (most all have to do with Luc)

I did not care for Luc in the first Heaven book and in this one I hated him from the prologue on. He never did anything to even remotely redeem himself for the way he treated Reese.

I am feeling lazy so I will just list the biggest reason why I hated Luc and this book

You know those books that you read early on when your tastes change, and you love everything, but when you go back and read them later, they just don't stand up to your original impression?

Yeah, these aren't those books. I first read these years ago, fairly early in my M/M reading craze. I loved them then, and I still love them today. Sure, there's nothing particularly awesome about the writing or original to the plot, but all put together, they are just something special to me. I love reading about this larger than life rock band, who's members are all apparently gay, or at least bi, and the fight to get the men they love.

Realistic? Hell no, but fun as hell, and that's all I really want!

I read this one a while ago, and as with the first I have a fond memory of it, I didn't love the first one as much upon rereading, but I'm hoping I will love this one just as much as I did the first time.

I still love it, Reese has loved Luc for what seems like forever, but years ago when Reese had the courage to make a pass at Luc it ended badly, so badly that Reese turned from his art and his life as he had been leading it and is now just sort of existing.
He teaches and dates girls, but it's not his passion.
Now Luc is back in town and wants him back, but Reese isn't ready for that.
Here is my issue, I know Reese thought he was doing the right thing, and as it ended up, Reese is a lot happier with his life after it is changed due to Luc's actions, but it is still VERY WRONG to do that to someone.
I would have liked to see a little of Luc's suffering and wanted him to have to work a little harder to get Reese back, but it's still a fun, sexy read.

Like a good cup of coffee. Jet Mykles books have a tendancy to keep you hot and up all night (reading of course ;)).

Heaven Sent 2 features Reese and Luc, bass player in the band Heaven Sent. I enjoyed the emotional play between Reese and Luc. Reese at first going for the crush he had on Luc then later denying it to preserve outward apperance.

There is NO denying the thier physical realtionship burn the sheets but yet and still Reese does not feel he is worthy of Luc's affection, nor does he want to admit he's gay.

In all I enjoyed this book in the Heaven series. I like the fact that Reese tries to deny over and over who he really is, because it gives truth to his reasons to love (or not love) Luc.

I thought Purgatory was boring. I didn't really care for Luc or Reese. I didn't think they had any chemistry, their feelings for each other didn't ring true, and I disliked how pushy Luc was. This bothered me in Heaven and it bothered me in this book. I was appalled that Luc would out Reese the way he did, even though Luc was doing it to "help" Reese. This is not a series that I plan on continuing.

I’ve read the first book of this series, Heaven, a few months ago and feasted upon the delicious rockstars - with their lush hair and sensuous bodies - of the band Heaven. Each of the four band members has his own book in this series.
Purgatory is the second book and it's really good. Luc and Reese, the heroes of this story are as lovely and hot as the main characters from the first book, Johnnie and Tyler. Their story is entertaining, sexy and ravishing. Funny thing with all the stories in this series so far is that there’s a recurrent emphasis on the characters’ looks, especially their hair and body seize. There’s no way the author let us forget how long, curly or what color their hair is. *g*

What I love about this series is the return of the different members of the cast in each installment. It’s great to see how couples from the previous books are doing, to get glimpses of their HEA’s. And it’s also nice to learn a little bit about characters whose love stories still have to be told in later books. Because it’s an interesting group of rockstars who each have their own character traits, quirks and preferences.

this was a quick 'in between' read... left me with much of the same feelings as the first Heaven Sent. Where is the suspense? where is the antagonising story? you wanna swap the names of the hero's and hey presto: same storyline as first book. I am disappointed...
Luc is 'not gay' and 6 years later he is... Reese is gay but 6 years later 'he's not'....uh uh
If anybody stormed into my workplace, calling me 'lover' and outing me for the whole world, i would be pissed oh yeah. That's crossing some lines honey. I was actually quite liking the ending where Reese got on with life and being gay...he even met some cute boy! now that would have been a believable story :)
and what is this with people feeling this animalistic attraction that is very very physical and then claiming they luvvvvv eachother? i don't buy it... it's too easy.
but maybe that's what this story is about...an easy-read...it's good at that!

Obviously yaoi-influenced

Warning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS.

Rating: 6/10

PROS:
- Dreamy premise. I love the idea of a man who was rejected once upon a time being pursued by the one who turned him away.
- Funny, realistic dialog and cute characters (personality-wise). This is true of both stories.

CONS:
- Everything is from Reese’s perspective. This isn’t really a bad thing, I guess--lots of authors write stories in limited third person that explore only one character’s thoughts and feelings. But for some reason I’ve never read a story that made me want so badly to hear both characters’ thoughts. It’s interesting to see how Reese thinks of himself and of Luc, but I really wanted to see what Luc thought of Reese also.
- I found the ending just a little off. Luc does something pretty awful to Reese in the name of Reese’s best interest and then vanishes with nothing but a “call me in the foreign country I’m whisking away to.” And then when he returns (and interrupts Reese’s finally-being-put-back-together life), he flutters his eyelashes, they make up, and they live happily ever after. The separation--and Luc’s actions that led up to it--seriously bothered me.

Every time I read this book - and I've re-read this book a lot - I get an attack of 'Pretty Woman-itis". You know, that feeling you get when you just love something and the minute the glow of the experience wears off you think, WTF? Was I really just enthralled by a movie where the heroine is too stupid to work her way out of prostituting herself on Hollywood Boulevard until she randomly snags the emotionally stunted billionaire with a heart of gold? Am I not smarter than this?

Purgatory works the same way for me. A lot of what happens in this book doesn't hold up to scrutiny in the light of day, but I can't seem to care. The characters make me laugh and cry and sigh with unrequited love. Our cinderfella Reese, isn't escaping a life of prostitution but something far worse - a life of utter boredom and unfulfilled promise. Our hero Luc is dashing, impulsive (or a totally narcissistic unrepentant ass depending on how you look at it) and the one and only love of Reese's life.
I just can't help myself. I love this book - every single time I read it.

I had issues with the first book in this series (big ones) so I was happy to see that this couple knew each other in the past and have a history. This book was really good for me for the first 75%. Luc was sweet to Reese and I really felt their connection. It was insta-love but I was expecting that from the previous book. This was one of those books where you're happily reading and then all of a sudden, from out of nowhere, something so extreme happens that the whole book runs of the rail and crashes. I could not get my head around what Luc does. It was all kinds of wrong and the kind of thing I can't see someone forgiving. (it was not cheating btw).
Just like in book one we have MC1 doing something outrageous to MC2 "for his own good". These characters take Alpha-hole to the next level.

There were a lot of missing words and mistakes throughout this book.

The story itself... There was way too much sex. I didn't understand why they fell in love with each other. Luc and Reese hadn't spent much time together six years ago (Reese said he'd only ever been in the flat with other people) and they didn't spend a lot of time getting to know each other after they met again. As far as I could see, it was all physical, especially on Luc's part. He never mentioned that he was in love with Reese six years ago, so those couple of days it took for Luc to fall in love with Reese was just based on the sex, I assume.

I also think that Reese was too forgiving. The story started out great and the premise had me eager to read more. The whole "I'm not gay anymore and I have you to think for that" was like a slap in the face (a GOOD, positive plot-slap) and the author could have done so much more with that. However, one kiss and Reese fell away from that conviction of his. Sure, he mentioned it a couple of times later, in a half-hearted sort of way, but not with any conviction. The story would have been so much better if this angle had been played out better and Reese would have been a lot harder to get.

Toward the end, Reese went through some childlike rationalization when he's talking to his sister and it just put me off. That wasn't a grown man talking. That wasn't even a crazed grown man talking. It was a child or an immature adolescent.

A positive point:

I wish I hadn't already bought the third book... If there's as much sex in it as in this one (and in Heaven) with as much lack of substance, it'll be the last Jet Mykles book I read. Sex, rock, and lack of plot doesn't do it for me - I need more.

3 to 3.5 stars

Instinctively, his arms wrapped around Luc's slim waist and clung for a brief moment as starbursts crackled around his heart.

Hmm, I don't know. I know this is well liked. I liked it. But I had some problems with it. Still, I really enjoyed the tummy twinges this one gave me.

My problems with the book had to do with a lack of relationship between the two MC's. Luc and Reese have a history, but we don't really get to see their relationship from that time and it didn't feel like there was a lot of interaction between them at the time. The other thing that didn't work for me here was what felt like a very abrupt ending. I really have no idea if this left them off in a relationship or not.

In fact, I found the ending so frustrating that I thought I must have missed something. I immediately started book 3 and nope, it just barely explains how Luc and Reese's relationship has moved forward, but still leaves me unsure. Granted, I'm only a couple chapters into book 3, so....

Now, all that being said, there's just something about these rockers, this writing and these story's that have me engrossed. I'm finding that I'm just whizzing through 'em now. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if it all wraps up with a little more satisfaction and completion.

Okay, back to book 3 and Brent and Hell - Oh yeah!

This review can also be found on my blog: A Match Made in Heaven

This book was just scorching! I loved Reese and I sympathized with his situation. He was so sweet when he came on to Luc in the prologue, and I really wish that Luc hadn't lashed out.

I enjoyed Luc and Reese's playful relationship, Luc's bossiness and the way that he called Reese'Tiger'. They were just too perfect together. I liked Luc's heavy-handedness in the bedroom, but not in Reese's personal life. He didn't respect Reese's wishes to keep their relationship secret. He just wasn't ready to come out yet and Luc was not very understanding about it.

When Luc got Reese fired and then ran off, I am glad that Reese did not chase after him. He took time to recover, but then he moved on. He let it go and I think that was the right decision. Even if it was only temporary, he needed time to discover who he was without Luc defining him. But it all turned out ok in the end, and Luc and Reese make so much heat together. Wowza!

I liked it. I might have liked it more than the first. Not sure. Toss up. Probably have to read again. Why a 4 star, not a 5? hmmm. not sure. Sometimes I can't get past comparing a books I read against another that is still in my mind. This being a "rocker" book, I can't help think of Conquest. That one for em was a 5 star all the way.

However, This was a really good read. I'm under the weather at the mo and even though I WANT to be writing I had no energy. Reading takes less effort. This book was fun and relatively short. I think Luc was not as seductive as Johnnie. Still had good presence but something about him wasn't as alluring. Luc and Reese are believable as a couple. I think some fighting is realistic.

I will have to read the next one as Jet Myles has captured my interest in following ALL the band members! So as an author, she's done her job! -I want more.

I loved this story, just as much as the first one. I loved how Luc wouldn't give up on Reese and kept coming back until he finally made Reese come to his sences. This one wasn't very long but it was a fun read and very enjoyable. Jet Mykles is easily one of my favorite authors. The writing style flows, character development is great, and the stories and fun to read. I can't wait to read the rest in this series.

This one had a little more bite to it.

Still mostly a fun read but the drama at the end gave it a slight edge.

Ideally I would of liked to of seen why Luc had such a change of heart but if you just go with the flow this is a pretty sweet story.

The premise behind this book is one I'm usually a sucker for - one main character does/says something to the other main character that changes his (or her) life for the worse then does his/her best to make amends once they find out what happened. While Purgatory has the first part of that, the second (and my favorite) part just didn't materialize.

We see Luc freak out over Reese's pass; we see him apologize for the original behavior, but, when Luc learns that Reese hit a downward spiral after the rejection that shoved him all the way to the back of the closet where it was "safe." Instead of seeing/hearing Luc being remorseful and trying to make amends, we just see Luc swooping in for the sex he passed on 6 years earlier then going to all those "safe" parts of Reese's life and removing them leaving Reese outed with no job. While this ultimately does turn out for the best for Reese (and I normally hate when a MC looks to another with plans of moving on, but I was giddy when Reese made plans with Jimmy - glad they didn't come to fruition, but also glad Reese wasn't sitting around pining), it came across as a little petty when it seemed to happen because Reese wouldn't ditch his life to run off to Italy with Luc.

It could have been that Luc came back specifically for Reese and truly had his best interests at heart, but we don't know that. I think getting Luc's POV likely would have bumped this up a star so for me, but we didn't. What saved it from being "bad" instead of "okay" were two scenes. The first was when Luc seemed completely shocked to learn that Reese gave up his art and went straight; there was a smidgen of a hint there that he may have been back for Reese and wasn't sure how to handle learning that the Reese he came back for was gone. The second was the ending scene which I won't spoil.

Overall, Purgatory was a decent book - not bad, but not what it *could* have been, either.

The second in Mykles Heaven Sent series, I can’t say I was as in love with the characters in Purgatory as much as I was in Heaven.

Still an extremely well written romance, I just wasn’t drawn in with Reese and Luc as much as Tyler and Johnnie. I wonder if I’d read Purgatory first if I would have felt different as the two stories are very similar.

Reese is a fan of the group Heaven Sent and has always had a thing for the bass player Luc, an enigmatic character who has similar aggressive/confidence traits to Johnnie, the lead singer of the band.

There were some annoying areas in the story that I couldn’t let go of, which probably hindered my enjoying the book in its entirety. Reese was almost to the point of being homophobic in his fear of people finding out he was in a gay relationship, which certainly made me less sympathetic to him. The scene in the classroom between Reese and Luc was hilarious but totally unrealistic and I found Reese’s overreaction annoying. Also the unprotected sex just seemed to happen for no reason, whereas it would have been lovely to have seen this as something that was built up to not just as an ‘oh well’. The ending was a little abrupt for me as well.

All in all, I would still rec it to others if they, like me, enjoy series, as I do want to see what happens to all the members of the band, and many of the annoyances mentioned above probably have more to do with my personal love of the build up than a reflection on this author’s capabilities.

Reese Schuyler, grew up with the guys from Heaven Sent. One of them, bassist Lucas Sloane, even dated his twin sister. But Reese was a sweet artist with sometimes blue hair, heavily pierced ears and is secretly in love with Luc. After Reese's sister broke up with Luc, Reese told him so. Luc did not take it well. He freaked out and kicked him out of his apartment, 2 weeks later Luc and the rest of the band left to start what would become their big career. Now it's 6 years later and the boys are back in town for a coming home show at the old club and they drop in to his sister's wedding. Luc seeks out Reese to apologize for his long ago behavior and finds out that he has become a math teacher at an uptight school, stopped dying his hair, took out his piercings and started dating women. But Luc has set his sites on Reese and he is used to getting what he wants, while Reese believes that this safe life is the key to his happiness.

I liked the love story in this book, it was sweet. And Reese is very likable. This is a third person story told from the POV of Reese. The only thing that was missing for me was, did Luc come back for Reese? Or was it just because he happened to know he was going to be there that he decided to make the apology? Has he been thinking about him all these years? I guess it really just would have taken one scene form Luc's POV to answer all my questions. It would have even been a long scene..

But that's okay. I look forward to reading about the rest of the band.

Luc's been one of my favorites since I first read Heaven years ago. I remember always being frustrated that Reese kept choosing It's interesting how my perspective has shifted over the years. I understood Reese much better this time, and sympathized so much more with his decisions.

Luc's still a favorite, and I think my shifted perspective helped me enjoy this even more than the first few times.

Some Favorite Quotes:
"When did you program your name into my phone?"
Luc chuckled. "Yesterday morning when I was checking it for you. Thoughtful of me, wasn't it?"
Reese laughed, sinking into his chair. "'Sex God' is a bit much, don't you think?"
"Mmmm. But you knew who it was."

"Are you okay?"
"Am I supposed to be?"
