I really enjoyed this historical romance story. The description of the world of Lord Marcus, with his scurrying servants and the beautiful letters from E were wonderful.
I really enjoyed the various parts of their building relationship, both their written correspondence and their actual meetings. I was so pleased that they gained their HEA

Pow! Boom!

You are not likely to meet two Regency era aristocrats quite like the rake Markus and the doctor Ellis. That is as far as I am going to go in describing these two--but the action they throw off in this novella is likely to scorch your fingers, and other sensitive parts, if you don't have something next to you to cool you off.

The plot is almost witty--though there is some danger afoot. The dialogue is also sometimes witty but mostly really dirty, which is so much fun coming out of such sophisticated mouths.

This one is so off-the-wall it actually seems it's possible to have happened. But if not, what the hay--enjoy it and just wait until the Epilogue: You will be screaming for more!

I have a special fondness for historical novels and this one was a great addition to my list of favorites. When Marcus begins receiving mysterious letters from someone known only as ‘E’ showing knowledge of his ‘illicit’ activities, he rightly freaks out and hides at home before becoming angry. When Marcus finally resumes his routine of dalliances, the letters continue as well and as the correspondence goes one, they become more explicit. From fear to anger to now arousal, Marcus finds himself determined to meet the mysterious E once and for all. Their meeting doesn’t quite go as planned, however, and when Marcus wakes alone, he finds himself chasing after the man that once chased him.

I liked this one quite a bit; the one sided letters sent from E in the beginning morphs into one sided letters from Marcus. Even after the two men finally get together, the letters continued, which brought a nice constant to the story itself. Marcus and E shared a kind of symmetry; they came from different backgrounds but had the same wants and needs which was easily satisfied when together. While it was easy to see where the author could’ve stopped the story and had a nice short story for her troubles, I was so very grateful that the story instead continued on. The book, while having a quite a good amount of sex in it, also has a deeper plot and it was immensely satisfying to see the difficulties crop up only to be overcome.

There was so much more to this story than I had been expecting and I enjoyed every page of it. I loved the characters and their correspondence and the ending was just the perfect little happy ending to wrap it all up. The bdsm I’ve tagged the story with isn’t heavy and is more along the lines of rough sex with a couple of instances of more defined kink so if that would normally put you off of reading this one, I encourage you to give it a chance anyway. This was a really good book, I enjoyed the heck out of it and I look forward to reading it again!
