Harry Potter meet Duncan Edge. Did you ever wonder what our favorite Wizard grew up to be? Well, we may never know that but Duncan grew up to be a T-FLAC/Psi operative, fighting the baddies around the world with his specially trained and equally wizardy team. I found it sorta ironic that Duncan fell for the red-headed girl too, but unlike in "Harry Potter" she isn't a sweet young thing, she is all fire and passion and Fury and so not what Duncan wants or needs - that old Curse and all that.
Duncan Edge and Serena Campbell have known each other since childhood and each have also known that because of family loyalties, that was the extent of any relationship they could have. For Duncan it was that Curse thing and for Serena, it was a little more complicated. So they grew up and took different life paths. Duncan became a T-FLAC/Psi operative using his Wizard powers to fight terrorism around the world. Serena married a old billzzionaire and runs his foundation, after his death, to benefit the poor around the world with new methods to feed them and make their lives better.
They are brought together when Duncan's job collides with Serena's newest project to feed the poor, the technology of which has the baddies of the world looking to use it for, well, bad things. Then they also are both summoned to compete for the Top World Wizard position. Which brings out another Wizard who played a big part is their younger feuds. Duncan, Serena and Trey are all deadly serious about the competition, each for their own reasons. In the end, the right Wizard is victorious and evil is vanquished and the Curse is ended and they all live happily ever after. The End. 3 1/2-Stars

Book #10 in the T-FLAC series and #3 in the Edge Trilogy within the T-FLAC series. I didn't care for this one because of the constant bickering between the two main characters--Serena and Duncan Edge. They were both wizards which put a slightly different spin on things.
Saw where this one was going and that's where it went...so no surprises. This book did wrap things up for the Edge brothers and that was good.
So 3 stars from This Reader, because I liked it, but I would not have finished it had it not been the final book in this set...because of the bickering characters.

Cherry Adair is such a good romantic suspense writer. The Edge paranormal T-Flac series though left me wondering why she did them. It's pretty hard to write really good romantic suspense and she's one of the very best out there. Her earlire books -- Show and Tell, Hide and Seek, Hot Ice and the others with the men of T-Flac are the best reading. These paranormals left me flat and wondering what they had to do with T-Flac.

Duncan - The third Edge brother - he has no desire to break the curse (lifemates will die before their time, no happiness as an ancestor chose duty over love) because he will not allow himself to fall in love, and risk losing his wizard powers. He is T-FLAC - and consumed with defending the world... with his eye on High Wizard.
Serena - wizard - has known Duncan since grade school - and the two of them have been competitors ... though Duncan causes her to loose kinetic control with his teasing, she bested him in most classes... at 16 they shared a kiss... he told her of the Nairne's curse - though she already knew of it, because she was a descendant of Nairne - and knows how to break it, and that if she is party to it she will loose her powers. At age 30 she married the elder head of a philonthropic organization, and was happy for the 3 years they were together... and his will named her head of his 50 million dollars for the foundation... and she has spent the last year using the money wisely, personally overseeing water, education, improving basic living conditions, etc projects around the world... (shimmering in and out from one location to the next)... and their baby is an experimental thermal blanket/fertilizer system that they are working on in the country of Schpotistan, tip of Siberia - because if it works there, it can work anywhere... most of the kinks are worked out, but they need the right energy source...
Trey Culver - grew up with Serena and Duncan - rich, goodlooking, entitled, competitive - especially with Duncan... to get at Trey, he 'glamored' Serena (though she didn't figure it out until this book) to date her - in HS, and later...
Henry - their mentor at school, and Serena's godparent - raising her after her parents died in a storm that Serena's uncontrolled powers had whipped up when she was angry with them... he is in a coma, and telepathically calling to Duncan - to 'stop her... to help her'... the only 'her' Duncan can think of is Serena. Henry has been High Wizard for 4 terms...
Trey, Serena, and Duncan are thrown together to compete for High Wizard... Serena wins the first 2 tests - one of fire and one of water - her calm head and a nursery rhyme helped her to brave the fire cave to retrieve the scroll - while Trey and Duncan battled fire demons - she wanted to end the test to save Duncan's life... and the second one of water had her overcoming her fear of the water to submerge in the cave and retrieve the scroll - again motivated because Duncan & Trey might be hurt and she wanted the test to end. So Serena will be given the Wizard's medallion 2 days hence - and her powers will include all wizard's powers. After the 2nd test, Duncan whisks her away and makes mad, passionate love with her - while both are chiding themselves that this cannot last... stupid, stupid people ...
on Serena's staff, Johanna is project manager - a brilliant scientist with a son in boarding school... and we know that she is being glamored (yes, by Trey, though we don't know who until the end) to gain access to the thermal blanket (he wants to get to the oil in Siberia) and he is pushing her by having her son kidnapped, pretending to be the inbetweener, to figure out how to activate the blanket... and they do - from a satellite... so satellites are converging on Russia, the blanket has been unrolled... and Duncan and Serena figure it out in time to use their power over fire & water to create a high atmospheric storm to push the satellites away... and Johanna's son is rescued by Duncan's crew...
and for the 3 books, high level wizards are being killed - and their powers absorbed by the murderer... and Duncan (along with his brothers) are trying to figure out who and why... They finally put the clues together and figure out Trey is the wizard behind it all... and Duncan knows he must face him... and Serena knows he will likely die as Trey has absorbed the powers of other wizards, making him the stronger one... so Serena goes to the council, retrieves the medallion - the 3rd piece of Nairna's jewelry, and gives it and the position to Duncan - so that he can draw on it's super powers - and she does this knowing that she will loose her powers... The Curse is broken (though the brothers haven't figured it out quite yet)...
at the castle, Duncan faces Trey - and his brothers join him - and they realize the curse is broken because they can fight (3 work as 1) together for the first time without canceling out each other's powers... Trey believed that he could kill them and take their powers and be the ultimate power ... but... yeah... right wins over evil - and they defeat (kill) him...
And Duncan goes to Serena - knowing his love for her is the strongest thing in his life, even if it means loosing his powers - but it doesn't - for an engagment present he is able to gift Serena back her powers...
and the castle butler - MacBain, is in fact the Magnus of the curse - and Lark (of the council - who has been administering the tests) is in fact Nairne - and with the curse finally broken - and the two of them older and wiser, they too can finally be together... ahhhhh

I enjoyed Duncan Edge & Serena Campbell's romantic battles as well as their battle for the seat on the Wizard's Council in this final entry of the Edge brothers saga of the series. Since the backstory for the brothers has been split between t he three installments more time was spent on the frustrated romance Duncan & Serena shared. Their squabbles felt very natural and comfortable as they should since they each had been fighting mutual attraction since childhood. Serena's additional battles with her career, secrets and family gave Duncan a chance to flex his protective alpha male muscles without her being the damsel in distress. Serena's frustration at gaining the upper hand on her powers was humorous without making fun of her and gave her some good moments to show resourcefulness and independence. The resolution of the trilogy-long Wizard's council leader was resolved and the villain wizard finally unmasked.
I liked all of the threads for this story, each of them moved at a good pace as they intertwined seamlessly. The introduction of new characters and the fleshing of recurring characters was done well as resolution for some secondary characters. This was a strong entry for the series although the "diversion" of the Edge brothers to psy-ops felt separate from the installments that came before. I'm thinking this was very much my favorite of the mini-series within and my favorite T-FLAC to date. I'll continue with the series since it is interesting enough and hasn't settled into the one formula trope for couple-dom.

This book is the final book of Edge Family trilogy which is a subseries of the author’s TFLAC books. TFLAC is a privately funded counterterrorist organization. It can be read as a standalone or the trilogy can be read separate from the other books. The male main characters in the other books in the trilogy are the brothers of the main character in this one. The Edge brothers work for the psychic phenomena group within TFLAC. I believe the three books happen concurrently with this book having an ending that concludes a story arc across the three stories. There is a second story arc that was introduced in the first book that was not a factor in the second book but comes back into play in this one.
Duncan is a wizard and can teleport, manages fire, and can charm. He has a lot of casual experience with women. He has known Serena since childhood and has always been attracted to her. He has not gotten close to a woman because his family suffers from a curse. If he falls in love, the woman will die.
Serena is a wizard as well and can teleport, manages water, and has telekinesis. That she is a wizard is different from the female main characters in the first two books. I thought that having her be a wizard put her on a bit more on an even footing with Duncan In the first two books, I felt that between being a wizard and part of an organization that had access to intelligence, gave both Gabriel and Caleb an unfair advantage over the non wizard women they were attracted to.
Serena and Duncan are two of three people who are running for Head of the Wizard Council. It seemed more likely that someone on the council would step up to this role and they could run for a vacancy on the council, but it made for a plot device. Early in the book, Duncan thinks to himself that he has the votes on the council sewn up so in order to win the position, he has to pass two tests. However, when the candidates are called before the council, Duncan realizes that someone he knows is on it. It seemed odd that he would not know that person was on the council but yet know that he has votes.
When Serena loses her temper, which happens around Duncan, she loses some control over her magic. The author had to keep up the idea that the men in the books were bigger, better, badder, etc, as it was not mentioned anywhere previously in any of the books. It also makes her less qualified for head of council in my opinion as control is important for a leader. Early in the story, Duncan teleports Serena to him without notice, which seemed rude. She was taking a shower at the time, so she appears naked in front of him. He does not apologize and he should have. Her anger keeps her from being able to manifest clothing. Another plot device.
Spoiler…You find out somewhat early in the book that Serena has a big secret. There is a twist at the end related to it.
The point of view switches between Duncan and Serena. It was easy to tell when the POV changes. In my opinion, the word choice at times uses slang and it felt flat.
There is a discrepancy between the second book and this one. In the second book, Caleb and Heather are expecting a child and they are told by someone who can see the future that he will be a very powerful wizard. In this book, the child of a wizard and a non-wizard are called “Halves” and they generally do not have much power.
I read the book more than 15 years after it was published. This was apparent in some of the interactions between Duncan and Serena. He would push about something (for example, visiting a warehouse). She would say no. He would push again and she would give in. At one point, she says “Who made you the boss of me?”, and he says “This” and kisses her. So his attraction for her made him her boss. Sure.
Serena’s foundation is working on a thermal blanket so that areas in the world where there is permafrost can be used to grow crops. It felt a little sad to read that as climate change is taking care of it.
Minor nitpick: Serena’s late husband’s will is being contested by his sons/Serena’s stepsons. It is more likely that a wealthy man would have put most of his assets in a trust.
I do not plan to continue reading this author.

Minor nitpick: Serena’s late husband’s will is being contested by his sons/Serena’s stepsons. It is more likely that a wealthy man would have put most of his assets in a trust.

I wasn't really in the mood for more curse and wizard stuff but i wanted to finish this trilogy. Unfortunately, this book was really heavy on the wizard stuff.
When my future self decides to pick up the T-FLAC series again, i hope i will go back and look at these reviews so i can remember why these books become 2 and 3 star reads. Not that there's anything wrong with a 3 star read here and there but i prefer to go into it knowing its not gonna be my favorite.
So what was wrong with this book:
1. The characters have long internal monologues. Some of them go on for multiple pages. Some are several paragraphs long in between one-line of dialogue. Then you have to go back just to remember what they were talking about. I realize this occurred in the first 2 books as well but by book 3, it was more annoying.
2. The author tries to fit multiple plot lines and POVs and a huge number of characters into one 330 page book. By the end, there are so many things wrapping up that its hard to keep track.
3. Its a cool idea that all of the 3 books took place during the same time period. But remembering where book 1 in the trilogy left off... it is hard not to realize that Gabriel is upstairs probably having a quickie while his brother is downstairs fighting for his life. This didn't sit well for me and makes less of the ending of book 1.
4. The ending of book 3 also didn't jive with book 2. In book 2, Heather/Hannah (whatever her name was) got pregnant in the beginning of the book and then 3 months passed. Yet at the end of book 3, it says "9 months later" and then we get a report of all 3 women having babies. So was Heather/Hannah pregnant for 12 months? Or is it some weird time travel thing? If so, what are the rules? I'm sure i could come up with more inconsistencies if I decided to waste more time thinking about it.
5. I am the type of person that likes my magic to have rules. In this book, there was so much magic, i felt like there were no rules at all.
Seeing that the next books in the series is another trilogy with wizards, i'm assuming i can expect more of the same.

I'm trying to not give out five star ratings so easily but the edge trilogy definitely earned it.
The edge series is a small part of the larger T flac series it revolves around magic and three brothers Gabriel Duncan and Caleb they work for the supernatural branch of the antiterrorism unit their family was cursed five years ago by a vengeful which that Everywoman they love will die in their sons will be Wizzards but what occurs in with Duncan Gabriel and Caleb ?
I thoroughly enjoyed this part of the series I had been kind of lukewarm about the series up until this particular offshoot. I really like the fact that each story took place simultaneously and the ending just wow if you like action spies and magic and oh yeah good fun romance pick this up!

This was a fantastic end to the edge trilogy. I really enjoyed this book. It was engaging and slightly different to the other 2 but thoroughly enjoyable. I liked how the relationship between Duncan and Serena changed throughout the course of the book and although there was an element of predictability, it was still great.

Here we are! The thrilling conclusion to the Edge Trilogy in the T-FLAC Series. This trilogy is a little series within a series and took the T-FLAC Series into the paranormal romance realm with...wizards. *shrugs* You do you, Cherry Adair. But actually, these three books have been the best BY FAR out of anything in this series, even though they are kinda silly and cheesy. But they're silly and cheesy in a fun way, and they have a good blend of romance and action, which is my requirement for a good romantic suspense book. Edge of Darkness was my least favorite of the three, but it was still decent. The very end was awesome, but you gonna have to read that for yourself. Spoilers and all.
Duncan Edge, like his two brothers, is a member of T-FLAC, a private counterterrorist group. He works in the special paranormal unit as a wizard where he runs across his childhood friend and somewhat nemesis/frenemy/I-actually-wanna-boink-you-but-I-can't-tell-you-that person. Duncan has a family curse where his "Lifemate" will end up dying a terrible death eventually, and he's spent his life pushing Serena away. Well, when a friend in a coma asks him to watch over Serena with little else to say, Duncan jumps on it. Sparks fly. Stuff. Curses. Terrorists. Wizard killers. Ties back to the other two books.
Serena Campbell lives and breathes volunteer and foundation work. She even married a philanthropist--one older than her, like...really older than her. But whatevs. Go on, girl. Do your thang. After her husband dies, she continues his work, but the work comes with an unknown danger, one Duncan warns her about. But like the stubborn lady she is, she doesn't believe him or care for his opinion. Then, there's a tri-wizard tournament for top spot on the wizard counsel. Okay, not REALLY, but that's what it kind of turned into. Yeah, very Harry Potterish with sex. She can't help her love for Duncan. Plus, she suspects Duncan loves her too but fights it because of the curse--the one she knows about but isn't supposed to.
This book didn't have the same charm as the other two. The chemistry didn't quite catch on for some reason. They may have been too busy bickering? Or too busy playing "who has the bigger balls." I dislike that angle of chemistry in romances. It just isn't fun to read for me. If that's your thing, you'll probably like the book--if you can get over the wizard stuff. lol But overall, I still think the book was good, and it was a very fitting end to the trilogy. It felt very satisfying and that I didn't waste my time with reading them. So, all in all, good reads.

Cursed as he is to never know love else be stripped of all his powers, the hero and his brothers have made a pack that the curse will end with them. So as a child when he laid eyes on the enchanting and forbidden heroine, the hero knew that no matter how badly he wanted her, he wanted the curse finished more. The idea of being stripped of his powers filled him with horror. His power and his ambition is all he has, he would be nothing without them. So, because he couldn't have her and because just being near her makes him sweat, he instead chose to make her dislike him. He knew exactly how to press her buttons, what to say and how to say it that she would become furious with him as such she'd keep that healthy boundary between them intact.
Now, how many years later, he is still consumed with the thought of her even though she clearly doesn't think of him. She moved on from his best friend to actually marrying a much older man all the while not knowing the idea of her with another man make the hero insanely jealous and hurt. But the desire to be close to her, even though he knows it's ill advised, so he finds reasons to enter her life once again. The heroine knows what people say about her marriage to her dead husband. That she was a gold-digging whore who married him for his money. But it's not true. She loved her husband in her own way, grieves his death-but she never burned for him the way she burns for the hero. The man is absolutely infuriating. Everything he says or does seems to strike a fire in her that caused her powers to go haywire. Never before has she craved and despised a man to the level that she feels towards the hero. He's a playboy and obviously too cool for school because he never showed her any emotion except for arrogance. And now he's back. Wormed himself back into her life under the pretense of a spy ring and a serial killer who has linked her foundation to the one killing wizards around the world. Their relationship has always been one of competitive arguments and now they are also both battling for the master chair on the wizard council. But time spent together after all these years has only managed to make that connection stronger until they can no longer deny their feelings. The heroine realizes that it was her pride that kept her from taking the chance at love with the man she believes to be her true mate. And the hero realizes that his ambition means nothing in the face of having a chance at real happiness-curse be damned. When she wins the master chair, he is pleased for her-genuinely. But soon, she realizes that she's it not the man for the job, the hero alone has the ability to save them from this recent attack and she's able and willing to sacrifice everything for him.
There was a lot going on in this book and though the author did manage fairly well to tie it all together in the end, it was a bit convoluted. What the true attraction was the complex but eerily simple relationship between the hero and heroine. I adored their tension and the way they themselves went out of the way to ignore it. The hero made me laugh at his arrogant smirks and his habit of doing everything he could to piss the heroine off all for the means of helping himself keep his distance. Even if she's furious with him, he's still able to be near her and at the end of the day, that's all he's ever wanted. He may think his destiny lies with the master chair but deep inside he knows the truth, that's he just afraid the curse will keep them apart. The heroine was a lovely character and had a lot more depth than a typical lead female. First of all, I actually enjoyed the fact that she dated other men before, that she married an elderly man despite the eww factor. This meant she wasn't shallow, she was just trying to find love because she couldn't understand her relationship with the hero. Together they had awesome love/hate secret desire banter and more often than naught her fighting about something or another (it didn't take much to start an argument-especially when the heroine was so defensive). I believe this is a good start to 2017!

This is the first Cherry Adair book I've read, and while I wasn't thrilled with certain parts of the plot, I really enjoyed her writing. I'll definitely be reading more of her books, even though romantic suspense isn't my favorite genre. I was surprised to see that this ties up some ends from two other books, so it's actually part of a triology for 3 brothers, despite being marked as book #10 in the T-FLAC series. This book could easily be read as a stand alone novel.
There are two reasons I rated this a 3, and both have to do with the portrayal of the heroine.
First, the heroine is constantly described as powerful yet incapable of controlling her emotions, which causes her telekinesis to go berserk a LOT. The hero seems to find this endearing and somewhat erotic (because she's so passionate?); I just found it annoying. She's 33 and still hasn't gotten control?
I did like the psychic aspects of the novel, and I'll probably check out the other two books featuring the Edge brothers, Gabriel and Caleb, along with other Cherry Adair books.

Last in the Edge Trilogy. I had to give it a two star rating as it took me a very long time to finish. I read several books in between the send in the trilogy. At first, I was very excited to find out how all three will tie in, but it failed to deliver. I am finding out that I do not like brooding males or novels where the hero and heroine act like they don't like each other, yet they have sex.
Serena and Duncan have a history that spans since childhood. Their attraction for each other is manifested in competitive foreplay. Aware of the curse, Duncan reluctantly hold back on claiming her as his because otherwise the curse calls for certain consequences. Serena, likewise, is not only aware of the curse, but also holds the secret to breaking it, which also has dire consequences in its self. Poor Serena is left with the very typical conundrum: should she? should she not? damn if she doesn't and damn if she does.
What I didn't like:
There were too many things going on that made this book seem very busy. The Epilogue, while very intriguing, I was bewildered about the turn of events. Talk about missing all of the foreshadowing literary device through out the series. I didn't like what was revealed, but I did get a kick out of it because I did not see that coming.

The book is finished. I can finally log it in and not feel guilty about moving on!

It was good. It tied up the trilogy. It had some surprises I didn't expect.

Duncan Edge is asked by his long time mentor to take care of Serena Brighman safe. But Serena is apposed to all his plans and forces Duncan to kidnap her for her own protection. Add to that a killer who is killing off wizards from Duncan's wizard council and you got trouble. Duncan goes on a search to find out who is killing his friends, and then starts getting suspicious about his long time friend Trey. Along the way Serena tries and tries to get away from him so she doesn't grow to care for him as more than just a body guard. And Duncan is trying to avoid her as much as possible because of a curse that was put on his family. It says that whenever an Edge starts caring for someone, that someone dies there soon after. But as much as they try to get out of loving each other they know that it isn't possible because they love each other to much. What will Duncan do about the curse? Will the killer's identity ever be revealed?

This book took way to long to pull me in. I knew who the bad guy was early and it was not really suspenseful to me. The action was in the last 40 pages of the book and too much description in the first 130 pages that did not seem relevant later. I would have rated this one a two but I love other books that I have read from the author and I did enjoy the last part of the book. However, I really should learn to put down a book when I am not into it. It is a good story that I am sure others would enjoy. I did not b/c the characters Selena and Duncan spent too much time over thinking the relationship (in their own head), the author spent way too much time explaining situations/issues/that really did not add to the story, and the story of terrorists/kidnapping/killings was rushed and not fleshed out.

I came across Ms. Adair's work and thought, why not, give it a try. The worse that could happen is I don't like the book. I fell hard for Ms. Adair's books. I do like romantic suspense and all the spy stuff. Does Ms. Adair glorify it so that it is neatly packaged, yes. Is it realistic to the rigors of true special ops work, probably not. But a gal can still dream. Duncan Edge is pretty cool in this story. I liked how he's able to figure things out. I do enjoy the T-FLAC organization. I recommend this for all women who like the romantic suspense which includes hot special/covert ops military type men.

I really enjoyed the book the Edge of Darkness, the 3rd book in The Edge brother's trilogy. It wrapped everything up. Ended up tying all 3 books together & the 3 brothers actually do the final battle together. I did like Duncan & Serena's story a lot better than the other 2 Edge brothers, I think it was due to them growing up together & realizing they are lifemates later on. I like the twists in this story, especially who Serena's ancestor is. I especially like the epilogue & how it wrapped everything up. The story with McBain & Lark. Now that was a surprise, but a great way to wrap up the Edge trilogy. Love Cherry Adair's books & definitely recommend this one.

This story was awesome! I loved how Duncan was introduced in the earlier book and then to finally get to know what he was really thinking during Gabriels' meeting was great. I loved the background on Duncan and Serena as kids. I loved the fact that she had magic as well. I suggest to read the Edge brothers trilogy in order to get the full effect of this story. The biggest surprise was Serena having a secret. I was also surprised about Lark in the end. I loved her attitude. This is a must read. Excitement, romance and magic. Great ending to this trilogy.

Serena Campbell holds a grudge against Duncan Edge that dates back to their childhood. Unfortunately, Serena is soon being used by terrorists to carry out a vengeful plot. She and Duncan must work together to fight the enemy before time runs out. The sparks between Serena and Duncan jump off the page and will live you singed. Edge of Darkness is a definite must read and keeper for any Cherry Adair fan.

I love all the T-flac series and highly recommend every one Cherry Adairs books. I read this one again this month and will read the others again soon. Check out her cool website where she has all the books listed and pictures of all her heroes. (Wow)

THE OTHER 2 BROTHERS MIGHT HAVE BEEN ON FIRE BC THEY WERE HOT BUT DUNCAN IS LITERALLY ON FIRE! THAT'S HIS POWER AND HE KNOWS HOW TO USE IT, DARK AND BROODY HE OOZES SEX APPEAL. THE LAST BOOK IN THE TRILOGY, IT HAD ME HOPING FOR A LONG LOST BROTHER!

Out of the Edge Trilogy, Edge of Darkness was my favourite. Cherry Adair nailed the ending, tying everything together for one of the best endings I have read (Out of her books). It was also nice because you don't necessarily have to read them in order, unlike some trilogies.
