Fettered #2

Reveal: Scorpio & Harlan

Rate this book
“She smells like flowers—the dangerous ones that bloom in the night and occasionally eat unsuspecting bystanders.”

Scorpio is a retired punk-rock singer and the baddest wedding logistics coordinator in the biz. She has a style. Spiky hair, chains, and unending attitude.

Harlan is the big, tough, tats-and-leather manager of Fettered, Seattle’s best BDSM club. He’s curious what might be under Scorpio’s spikes, and he’s got infallible instincts where subs are concerned.

Or he thought he did.

Until a certain flower eats them in the night.

Scorpio and Harlan's story was engaging, quite sweet at times and super hot. It was a really easy, pleasant and light read, with a little bit of angst and a lot of steam.

Whilst I liked Scorpio and Harlan, I never really felt like I got to know them deeply. It's not that they were one dimensional but I felt like we only skimmed the surface of them. I didn't really care for all the "edge" references, I still couldn't say with 100% certainty if it meant something good, something bad or just pushing boundaries. In fact there was too much talking in code and I think that was part of what prevented me from connecting with the characters in this story.

That said, the story flows really well, the kink scenes, the negotiations, the actions and reactions felt very natural and real. I love the banter, the humour and the support between not only Harlan and Scorpio but also with their friends. It added a fullness to the story.

Things progressed quite rapidly between Harlan and Scorpio and it did feel very insta-love, which is somewhat of a soft limit for me. However I enjoyed them as a couple, and loved how they connected as much more than Dom and sub.

I am in so much love with the men on Fettered. They remind me of shifter men and consider themselves to be a Dom and a man which seem to be different mind sets. They're very hot and very Alpha. What I love most about Harlan is how he cherishes Scorpio and pushes her outside her comfort zones, but not to be a jerk, but because it's something she needs. Love these guys.

I remember nothing lmao.

Normally I take notes while I'm reading and pull those notes together into a review but whoops guess I have zero thoughts, which sort of explains why I rated this 3 stars.

Let's just assume this was fine?

I dunno, yet another series based around a group of friends who own a sex club and are in the lifestyle.

Scorpio and Harlen

This is book two in this series and each one gets better with each couple they bring in. This one is more softer but don't let it fool you because it is still one heck of a ride to take with these two.
This one brings me memories of a love lost that only had a beginning and an end no middle one from a lifetime ago that left everything against them she so wanted him to be her Dom and she was so willingly to be his sub if it would had just been the right time but fate was always against them from the very beginning...Yes she will always love him and hopes that the love he had for her will always be there for her before the time took them away...

3.5 stars. I loved Harlan but Scorpio got on my nerves sometimes. It was like she was trying to hard to be "tough"

Still a great read. Still leaves me feeling on edge.

PREVIOUS REVIEW:
Second time through. Still one of my favorites, and it still left me feeling like I’m full of frayed edges and unresolved angst. I have that raw feeling, like the whole weight of the world had scraped against my skin, and I don’t know if I’m okay with that or not. It’s kind of like I want to run away, but I also can’t look away. This book unsettles and unravels me, and I don’t know how to stitch myself back together in the aftermath. I don’t even know if I want to.

My previous review still stands and is probably more coherently so I’m going to stop here.

PREVIOUS REVIEWED:
I don’t know what happened here, and so I’m going to try to talk about it, as that is what this story would want from me. To communicate things I would normally keep to myself.

This one has left me all raw and emotional. Kind of frayed around the edges. Like all my nerve-endings have gone haywire, and I don’t really know how to feel.

There’s definitely a lot of marvelous feelings and happiness about the overall storyline and characters, but those are mixed in with some pretty strange and intense personal feelings of worry and uncertainty. Maybe even some fear. Over a book. Over what two characters walked through in this story, but not any of the physical stuff, just all of the emotional stuff.

This book made me feel like I needed a safe word to use to protect me from this book and all the ways it wreaked havoc on my mind and emotions while reading. I still feel confused and overwhelmed, even though I want to melt in and feel delicious about it all. I wanted to pull it close one second, and in the next, I needed to hold it away from me just to breathe and get some space. My chest aches, now, and I’m not even sure I can fully wrap my mind around the truth of why that might be.

I think that watching this couple walk their edges left me on edge and had me questioning myself in a lot of areas. I feel strangely undone. And I’m not part of this community or lifestyle. All I’ve done is read about it and wonder if there’s any truth inside what I’ve been reading. Or maybe it’s just pretty fiction, the highly effective kind, and I really let it get to me. I don’t know, and I think the not knowing is part of my current emotional chaos. Either way, any book that can tie me in so many knots of tangled emotions deserves all the stars.

There's nothing for me in this one. I don't really think it's worse than the others, but I do not care in the slightest about the main characters.

I'm going to copy/paste almost the same review for each book in this series since there aren't many variations. No spoilers
2.5*
Different cast but the script follows the exact same plot scheme in each of the seven books: two characters we barely know meets for the first time and pair up for casual kinky sex that suddenly becomes very serious, monogamous, almost vanilla happily ever after love relationship.
Everyone is quite anonimous: the differences in personality and physical appearance are just skin-deep, and everyone acts in similar ways. Even age and social status, or past experiences, when mentioned, aren't more than just a number or a tag, rather than a way to better detail the person.
Book 6 and 7 are slightly better because main characters have a bit more in-depth and nuances: Chloe and Eli - and their relationship - are managed quite well as characters (probably thanks to them being childhood friends) while Meghan's character and storyline in book 5 are the ones worst managed.
They still are a fast, light, easy reading anyway.

Blah

I felt this story lacked something & there needed more pieces to it. The characters themselves are alright but they weren't shown all sides of them. Yes Scorpio has been introduced to the world & Harlan loves it but I would have liked a little bit of their back stories to help place their feeling & why they act how they do.

A fine read

This story was good. Light...simple and fun...nothing too intense. This is a good read for a lazy day around the house. A little bit if erotica, but no real BDSM in this book...it’s just centered around a BDSM club.

Reveal: Scorpio & Harlan

Leather and Flowers

Another really good book in the Fettered Series. REVEAL: Scorpio & Harlan is the second book in this Series and I really enjoyed this book as well. Scorpio works for Emily the heroine from book one as a “Wedding Planner Logistics Coordinator and she is a retired “Punk Rocker” Harlan is the “Floor Manager” at Damon’s BDSM Club also book one. I love when authors put couples together that you normally wouldn’t think would work and these two really do work. Harlan and Scorpio walk a tight rope that is their relationship. They don’t want to want each other but they just can’t help themselves. Scorpio sees something in Harlan that He decides he needs to push the envelope with her and with them. I could go on and on about how wonderful a couple they are but I think you are better off reading the book and exploring the genre for yourself. My parting words will be a thank you to Lilia Moon for making her books more about the lifestyle of BDSM and less about the sex that is involved. I think that if you are new to this genre, or are thinking about this lifestyle this paints it in a nice way that it doesn’t turn you off.

Good Vibrations

Truly enjoying this author and her books that give BDSM a much more realistic presentation. Scorpio is a former punk rock band member, who now works at Emily's wedding planner agency. Since Emily and Damon , BDSM club Fettered's owner, are now a couple, Scorpio has been spending time at the club, although not as an active participant, and regularly encountering and becoming friendly with most of its management. Harlan, Damon's best friend and the dom who manages Fettered, has been making overtures to Scorpio about considering testing the kinky waters and agreeing to a contract with him. When she ultimately agrees, the fireworks begin.

This story, more so than several of the others by this author, addresses the breaking down of walls of a sub who has spent her life taking care of herself and who believes that surrendering equals weakness. The process of getting Scorpio past her misconceptions and rebuilding her was an intriguing one. It also reinforced the tight bonds that this community shares between its members and how they support one another in a variety of ways. In many ways, this storyline developed differently than most.

3. 5 Stars for me!

My rating range throughout the story... 3 - 4 Stars
Main Character Ratings... H = 7/10 - h = 7/10

Scenes with heat.. Lots
Heat Rating... 8/10

The back story... The h has been coming to the club for a while but has not partaken in the activities. The H is interested in the H and gets her to play with him.

The Romance... Slow burn but the lust is immediate. It takes a while for them to admit their full feelings.

The drama explosion... Very minor... The H gets a bit scared and wants to run. The H then pisses her off to get her to return.

Final Notes... I liked the characters quit a bit in this story and appreciate the author building safe worlds. What did drive me crazy was the use of BDSM to solve all relationship problems. The h won't fess up to what is bothering her... The H will spank it out of her. I don't see how that will work in the real world. There are also several times in the story that referenced that the Doms always look out for the best interest of their subs and that is not realistic. I am sure that many do but there are always those who will abuse any system.

Another really good book in the Fettered Series. REVEAL: Scorpio & Harlan is the 2nd book in this Series and I really enjoyed this book as well. Scorpio works for Emily (Book 1)as a “Wedding Planner Logistics Coordinator and she is a retired “Punk Rocker” Harlan is the “Floor Manager” at Damon’s BDSM Club (Book 1).

I love it when books are so good I have to finish reading the books that have been written already in the series and I can’t stop myself so I am looking forward to reading Book 3 Desire: Gabby & Daniel. I will be buying the next book as soon as this review has been written and posted. By the way we have had a peak at Gabby in both books 1 & 2 of this Fettered Series.

I received this book via Kindle Unlimited.

Book two of the Fettered series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone, but secondary characters are throughout the series. Full length told in dual POV with HEA. Series takes place in / around the BDSM club and the secondary characters are all coworkers that feel more like a family. I really liked this book! Although the timeline that the book takes place is very short the story is very detailed. Scorpio needs to be tough and she thinks to be soft is a sign of weakness or being less than. Harlan wants to teach Scorpio that she holds the power in submitting. I am looking forward to reading more in this series, and I highly recommend!!

I love the way Lilia Moon incorporates "vanilla" people with the BDSM Club people. Fettered is a series that isn't so much about the sex, but about the way of the lifestyle. The love people have for each other, the way they take care of each other. It's so beautifully written, you just want to hug all these amazing characters. Scorpio and Harlan are wonderful characters who just don't know who they want to be at the moment, they walk a fine line together to figure it out. And all their friends are just lovable enough to but in when they mess things up. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Hard Shell, Ooey Gooey Center

I have been very curious about Scorpio since we met her in book 1, that tough exterior couldn't be all there was to her...there had to be more, and oh boy was there!

Harlan was the perfect Dom for Scorpio, he sees so much, and he understands better then most...exactly the kind of Dom she needs.

Their connection on that deeper level is the part of this story I enjoyed the most. An author can normally write amazing sexy scenes but its those digging deep moments and scenes that really show me an authors true writing style and capabilities.

Another excellent series book from Lilia Moon. Gosh, I like her characters. Harlan and Scorpio's looks are deceiving. He's all tatted up, professional Dom and BDSM club manager. She's the epitome of a punk rocker, sassy and irreverent. He sees something in her and decides to push the envelope. She pushes back at first but finally gives into her wants and he gives her what she needs. They slowly dismantle each other's walls through trial and error. They find their "in-between."

DNF @ 15%

So I was feeling a bit ambivalent toward the first book in this series but I figured I'd give REVEAL a try. Unfortunately the writing style and phrasing choices that annoyed me so much in YIELD are still present here and after putting REVEAL down for a day to read something else I realized I don't have any interest in continuing it. This is mostly a me thing but I'm going to move on to something else.

Enjoyable but not as good as the first installment

I enjoyed the dynamic between Harlan and Scorpio, both of them having tough exteriors but an apparent softness underneath. I enjoyed the book and it was a quick read. I just felt it didn't have the impact that the first book had unfortunately. But a good read none the less.

I really like this softer side of BDSM stories where both of the characters are very likable

This is the second book of the series and the second book com this author that I have read and I really do like the build up of the characters as much as the sex scenes. Both of the characters have feelings, faults and seem real. On to three.

Interesting and well-written for erotica. Not gonna lie—I don’t know much about BDSM, but I enjoyed taking a peek behind the curtain. I can’t rate for realism or exaggeration, but the emotional connection was great, and I enjoyed the characters’ sense of humor. This story wasn’t as alluring as the first, but I’ll read more from this author.

Second in the series of Lilia Moon's Fettered series, involving Doms and subs. So far, this book and the previous really delve deep into the psychological aspects of a bdsm relationship, beyond just the physical nature of sex. I'm learning a lot about the depths of a committed D/s relationship.

Lilia Moon did a good job to connecting me with Harlan and Scorpio! I love that Scorpio is a badass and that Harlan is a big softie with her! I love when Harlan buys Scorpio underwear! I think that scene is super sweet! This book kept my attention all the way through!
